War in Ukraine

If Trump were truly compromised he would have been charged a long time ago. The IRS has audited him probably more than anyone else and couldn’t get him. They got Al Capone on tax evasion but can’t get Donald Trump? Think about that because it speaks volumes. You can say he’s an a-hole and a sleazeball, and you’d be correct. But one thing he seems to have going for him is that he hasn’t been compromised by foreign countries.
They can’t let that fiction go. Won’t talk about Clinton or about hunter and the big guy, but they’ll peddle the fantasy that trump is a russian asset all day

He's very "smart" though.

...and remember, that was his best case scenario even if the initial invasion went well. The occupation part of this was always going to be hard and bloody.

This going to dominate and completely control the rest of his time in office, and that was totally foreseeable before he invaded. I don't think this is how he wanted to spend his twilight years. Usually I don't buy clickbaity, hot take-type stuff, but there really might be something to the "he's not the same guy he was a few years ago" narrative that is making the rounds. He supposedly has been incredibly isolated during COVID. In these public pronouncements over the last few weeks he appears angry and agitated.

Or, forward thinkers just way ahead of their time. Just to provide a balance and maybe even kindness to the discussion.

We need a voice saying we can do both at once. Increase American production while investing in a large wave of renewables. No harm, no foul, plenty opportunities to continue making money and creating jobs.
There's nothing forward about it. Unless we have wwiii, we are headed toward a bad recession or depression. In a moment where you can invest in such projects AND level your economy with your own production, its stupid, irresponsible and insane. The reality is the timing of this, after a pandemic that sevelerly hurt our economy, is poor. It's time to put your utopian wishes aside and put country first.

Heavily open up our own production and export to Europe. Revamp the keystone pipeline, invest and build nuclear energy. This nonsense about solar, wind, etc is just as anti green as oil with the production and resources need for such little energy. It's why Germany relies on Russian energy because they went that route and it doesn't produce enough so they buy from Russia. There's no devil's advocate to play here. It's plainly stupid.

I'm placed in a position of having to set the record straight just like I'm put in a position a lot to defend Trump. Both of these guys have their flaws, but nowhere near what the media and political society will have you believe. And really, the same can be said of any world leader that goes against the US.

Your boy has militarily invaded another country and has threatened to go nuclear. Both actions are indefensible and abhorrent. The fact that you're still trying to carry Putin's water for him at this point is just bizarre.

I don't think Trump is a Russian asset. I think that is bit absurd. I do think he has been manipulated by Putin because of Trump's desire to be his buddy.

I'm unaware of any country in the course of human history being sanctioned like the EU and NATO are giving Russia right now. It's unprecedented and despite what Comrade Carlson is saying on Fox, these sanctions will cripple Russia. Not just financially, but these people won't be able to fly through EU airspace. Hope they like vacationing in Siberia and China.

Now does that mean that it will suddenly make Putin change his mind? maybe - maybe not. Probably not. He may not care that the plebes suffer the brunt, but it isn't nothing. Guarantee Xi is paying attention to the sanctions.
Germany was smacked pretty good for WWI.

While it’s great that Germany is finally stepping into a protection leadership role in Europe one can’t help but look at the first half of the 20 th century and wonder how this is going to go over once Ukraine has ended.

I realize the Germany of today is not the Germany of the 1940’s and same for Japan but the longer term impacts are both of these power houses are going to be “welcomed” back to the well armed and dangerous country club. Let’s hope Europe’s tiffs stay sibling rivalries this time around.

Wonder if @Rasputin_Vol will be posting that "Got any more of them sanctions" meme again?

Not so funny anymore.
Oh, they are getting serious now.

GOP Governors Urge Russian Vodka Boycott. There's Just One Thing... | ZeroHedge

Only around 1.2 percent of all vodka imports into the United States in the first half of 2021 came from Russia, according to data from the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.

The most popular vodka brands sold in the United States like Smirnoff, Svedka, New Amsterdam, Tito’s, Absolut, Ciroc, and SKYY, are made either domestically or in European countries like the UK, France, and Sweden.

Something about these "sanctions" doesn't seem right if the intent is to immobilize Russian trade. This can't be a serious gesture. I'm starting to wonder now if these guys in charge only want to make symbolic gestures instead of going with a more nuclear option for some reason.

We shall see…. Russians wants, needs, and desires are not the same as western cultures…. My dad did a missionary trip over there remodeling a hospital over there and was shacked at how they lived and thought about things over there.

Correction, Germany was unfairly kicked in the balls repeatedly by the French at Versailles. There was no "good guy" in WWI outside of what the Turks pulled on the Armenians. Heck the Germans didn't even start the war and weren't solely responsible for its escalation, one could argue it was the Russians who escalated it.

Dont disagree here.

Oh I get it, the culture is radically different.

The pressure is being put on the oligarchs, they are the ones who collectively keep him in power.
