War in Ukraine

Hitler's timing (winter), fighting on multiple fronts, and general madness also helped the Russians. None of which really applies here either.
Name one military power post Mongol invasion who has forced them to capitulate (and 1918 was self inflicted suicide by Lenin, so that doesn’t count)

Or Hunter Biden paintings...

Why must you continue the partisan rants? Conservatives can match you rant for rant but where does it get us? Can't you leave the partisan crap aside with regards to Ukraine? Let's unify our differences and support freedom

Because it's important not to whitewash where the GOP (largely) stood on NATO, Russia and Ukraine until the invasion actually happened. Trumpers wearing shirts saying they support Russia over Dems, Trump withholding support/extorting Ukraine for non-existent dirt on Biden, Trump wanting to exit NATO, Tucker flat out saying he was cheering for Russia, etc etc. That's the ugly history you guys have. Don't act like the party didn't dance with the devil.

The US government isn't the enemy of the people inside this nation, that is a ridiculously paranoid statement, some of the people who run it may be but not the government in and of itself.
Our AG was calling parents at school board meetings domestic terrorists.

Out POTUS was shoving vaccine mandates that violate the Constitution and Geneva Convention.

Our police are using excess military equipment used in wars in the Middle East.

Our govt works in concert with traditional media and social media to manipulate and control information.

There are very, very few examples of our govt doing anything beneficial to honest, law abiding, heterosexual, freedom loving, hard working, nuclear family centered Americans.

No one cares. Let's save lives in Ukraine right now. Check your whiny vendettas from the past at the door

No one is attempting to enter/occupy Russia. Their landmass is irrelevant
The main argument I am trying to make is that early conclusions based on initial Russian incompetence are usually mistaken as they have the resources to continue a fight much longer than their opponents. And they have shown a historical tendency to continue fights until their resources come to beat.

If anything, I would think that the size of Russia would be a hindrance in an offensive operation. More land means more distance to move troops, equipment, and supplies.

And horrible weather as Hitler found out. Your men are prone to freezing and starving.

This Fiona Hill piece is fos.
Ask the radicals what they think of Nato
Conjecture that Trump would of conceded Ukraine
If we have been at war Obama didn’t know it

Just a repeat of everything wrong in the world cause Trump.
The Trump stuff is but a snippet of that interview.

She knows Putin - the interview was 98% about him. She has some interesting insights into his psyche and aspirations.

Can we call the Cold War a draw? I kid. I see what you are saying, but my point is most of the advantages you reference pertain to fighting defensively. They are on the offensive here. It also helps that the leader of Ukraine's brain isn't eaten up with Syphilis and on crazy amounts of meth.

So with Russia demanding all citizens to leave Kyiv, this is where things get ugly and scary. Will they leave or will they resist?

Regardless of whether most civilians leave or not, I'd wager Russia will then use their standard MO to simply raze the entire city with artillery, rockets and bombs. Can the Ukrainian army survive and resist? Yes. But, there will be huge numbers of casualties including civilians.

When the world then sees the video of pure genocide and mutilated children and women, what will it do? Continue to sit on its collective hands and just watch innocent Ukrainians be blown to bits?

This is where the US and our allies *could* be compelled to "come to the rescue" of Ukraine. For moral reasons. To stop genocide.

Would this be wrong?

One thing's for sure: It would be WWIII.
Exactly. In a situation like this you don’t want to be reactionary but it seems that’s the only way it can be. It’s sad so many have to die for things of the magnitude of what will have/need to happen to actually happen.
War sucks, we’ve seen war for 20 years now. Regardless of were you sit on this war or on others. It is apart of everything, every country does. There will always be war that’s just part of it. The faster people realize it the faster one can separate emotional ties to toMorrows thinking

I wouldn't trust anything she has to say, she's discredited herself by going political.

If time is on anyone’s side I would argue it’s on the side of Ukraine, not Russia. As time progresses you’ll see discontent among the Russian elite and you’ll see the results of the money flooding into the Ukraine.

I don’t support the EU stealing the assets of Russians, but I do think it will create more pressure on Putin to wrap this up fast.

The same with the economic sanctions. Granted they’re extremely weak sanctions (because German’s and others are absolutely pathetic).

Time is not on the side of Russia. Putin should be attempting to end this as quick as possible.

I asked basically the same thing last night and I was told I was stupid to think we would do anything since Putin has nukes. Curious if those response are the same or different today or tomorrow.

So, as depressing as the prospects are for Ukraine right now, it would appear that 'near-nuclear-level' sanctions that the free world has imposed on Russia are working. Bigly.

The Russian stock market remains closed for a second day. Oops!

The Ruble has plummeted from around 75 rubles/dollar to 114 today. BAM!

This importance of this 50%+ gashing cannot be understated. This is HUGE.

Putin and every Russian oligarch, average citizen and soldier just lost 50% of their financial nest egg.
(presuming they're mostly held in Rubles - I suspect most average people would be, at least)

Viewed another way, every Ahole Russian soldier on the front lines also just got a 50% pay cut.

Enjoy!

If anything, Ukrainian civilians should be handing out copies of the following chart to Russian soldiers.

The economic downfall of the USSR is what lead to its capitulation in 1991, and it can definitely happen again today.

If the Ruble crashes down to 150 or 200 per dollar, I don't see Putin surviving.

You can’t call them “near nuclear” if the sanctions did not effect the Russian oil/natural gas exports. The sanctions were weak. It would be like sanctions against Columbia that don’t include cocaine and coffee
