Fast forward to last night, and a team of reporters at Bloomberg have produced an answer: at risk of potentially violating US sanctions (which have imposed strict limits on secondary market transactions involving certain types of Russian debt), JP Morgan and Goldman are already scooping up Russian corporate bonds, either for their own book, or on behalf of waiting clients.
It is kind of like Europa Universalis 4, we were NOT the War Leader. The fate of the war was not dependent on us. South Vietnam was the leader and lost the war. You can possibly say we lost with them but we were not the main factor in the war.
He has a point….. it’s hard to distinguish between what is real and what is fluffed up nonsense….. they are all out here fighting for clicks to make money….. look at some recent lies…. When we pulled out of Syria…. ABC news used footage from a kentucky gun range to show the atrocities of what happened when we left…. Remember the scenes of COVID caskets overseas that turned out to be a scene from a movie…. The media running with the trump/hooker pee story…. That is just a few off the top of my head.Same sensationalized propaganda, that you spoke about, that was speaking to a Russian invasion? Or is that diffferent?
I promise you, if your utilities are out for a week or longer, you're going to think your house was razed.

Our military made many unforced errors in Vietnam. For example, deciding to measure success through body count rather than land won and controlled was a massive strategic error by our military in Vietnam. Our air actions over N Vietnam could have been far more effective, and that was definitely on us - specifically LBJ and his merry band of idiots. You are right that the war in the south had more to do with S Vietnamese incompetence - although we had quite a stake in that, too. When Nixon handed the war to the Vietnamese, if went downhill pretty quickly - especially after Cooper and Church emasculated our response. One of our worst moves was the "are we going to fight or negotiate" and the nonsense about calling off the dogs while negotiating - you negotiate from strength. The other big factor was that the N Vietnamese never honored the Laotian/Cambodian "neutrality" - and neither did we, but we didn't call BS on what N Vietnam was doing and go whole hog on destroying their sanctuaries and transportation.
Now why are JP Morgan and Goldman allowed to do this? I thought we were imposing sanctions? But these too big to fail banks can side step the rules? I swear, you guys are being played... this has nothing to do with Ukrainian sovereignty or saving Ukrainian lives.

I'm sorry about that man, I'd have changed everything electric at my house to avoid a 10 day stay with my in-laws. It must have been holy hell. After Hurricane Irma (2017), I spent 10 days at my inlaws because they had a whole home generator. When things got back to normal, I had a 15k generator installed because F that, I wasn't doing that again. I also equipped my business with failover internet and a generator because of how dependent we are on internet.

I think THIS qualifies at „razed“. I realize it is a town and not a city. But it is still inhumane and a violation of the rules of warfareYou and I have different definitions of razed. Taking out utilities and government/military structures isnt razed.
I agree. I also have a major philosophical issue with sacrificing many American soldiers' lives to take a hill. Then, abandon that hill, giving it back to the enemy to then sacrifice many additional American soldiers' lives to re-take that exact same hill at a later date. That was beyond stupid.Never fight a war of attrition with Asians - you won't win.
