War in Ukraine

But we signed. Do we stand by our word or not? I mean we have to keep our word … right?
We agreed to those terms when there was the USSR and The Cold War. But this alliance (which includes the United States) is no longer practical. If the Europeans want to maintain their alliance, that is fine. But in this situation, it is justified to walk away from this deal.

We gave our word and the agreement stands. Are you trying to be a weasel Ras? Tsk tsk. We need to honor our commitments

I'm simply being practical and what is best for the US. We have long outlived the purpose of NATO. We can leave the group just as easily as we joined it.

So which is it? The Europeans are so inept that they need the US to lead the charge? Or in your scenario, they will band together and crush Russia?

The western European gene pool has been degraded so much over the centuries that they are incapable of defending themselves. From the 1700s through the early 1900s every European with any balls immigrated to the US or one of their other colonies. Then you factor in all of the wars fought the majority of the rest of them with balls were killed. The majority of people left in Europe are decedents of weak genes.

There might be something to this.

What does Denmark, which borders Germany, have to do with the US, which is separated by an ocean? There was no immediate (or tertiary) threat that Germany posed to Main Street USA.
You’re not very informed. You really trying to say that a fully strong Japanese military with no US defense in the pacific and a German Nazi regime that was hurrying to build its own nuclear bombs would have no direct threat to the US? Despite the fact both countries had US invasion plans ready as early as 1940?

Having plans is far different than being able to execute those plans. Germany would have had its hands full in Europe even if you assume they would have been able to successfully roll over Britain and USSR after France. They would have had to deal with local insurgencies and resistance groups, so they would have spent time and resources just trying to maintain what they would have conquered.

I get how Russia going into Ukraine is a problem, but I don’t get how it’s our problem. Are we going to harangue Switzerland for not getting involved too?
I don’t see anybody lobbying to put our people in the line of fire again we’ve spent two decades doing that. But if they are willing to fight back and make a serious attempt at keeping their sovereignty I’d like us to arm them to the teeth so that they can kill as many of the invading bastards as possible.

Germany…wtf?? Blocks Estonia from supplying Ukraine with weapons. We ask for Europe to handle their own backyard and Germany blocks it. Trump was right to dress down Merkel over Germany’s contributions to NATO. Guess Germany being Putin’s b**ch is preferable to having their nat gas supply cut off in the winter.

Russia moving aircraft to forward positions was always one of the last steps in prep according to the experts. They're deploying strike aircraft to Belarus currently.

Watching the Saturday morning news shows. Apparently also moving landing ships into the Med as well. (Edit)

Apparently the embassy draw down is real. I know we posted some rumors earlier but Monday it will be official.
