War in Ukraine

"The authorities of the Republic of Poland...are ready to deploy – immediately and free of charge – all their MIG-29 jets to the Rammstein Air Base and place them at the disposal of the Government of the United States of America," the ministry said.

Are we going to be flying those planes and pretend it’s the Ukrainians flying them?

NATO should approve and prepare to establish a No-Fly Zone. Don't do it yet. Just approve it and have it queued up.

Yes, it's provocative.

No, Putin can't do sh*t right now about it.

Technically, it's a "defensive" posture established to protect Ukrainian airspace and its citizens.

If he attacks NATO aircraft, Section 5 is enacted, and then all the West is at war with him. The absolute LAST thing Putin needs right now is the US entering the war. He's already getting his ass handed to him by Ukraine alone. It's become evident that the Russian armed forces are far more pathetic than we could possibly have imagined. It is clear that Russia would be absolutely ANNIHILATED by NATO and the US.

No boots on the ground. Just air defense. If attacked, these planes have the right to defend themselves.

The strategic objective is to simply neutralize Russia's air offensive advantage.

At that point he knows his goose will be cooked. If he's backed into a corner I have little doubt he would scorch earth.

The best path here would be to give him some wiggle room, give him a fall back option and hope he takes it. The alternative is likely MAD.

We are going to restart production of Tab and ship it to Russia. Either the populace will revolt over the taste or else they will be too nauseated to fight

Don't count PepsiCo out. They could bring back Crystal Pepsi, just for the Russian market.

Right. Well, the alternative has always been MAD. Putin could go nuts and nuke the world if he loses. It's a risk.

But the question is, are we going to let Putin dictate our policy by threatening world destruction?

Will take us a while to get the owners manuals translated into English “Congratulations on you purchase of a Mig-29……”
Of course the new plane smell is long gone

It seems that something comes from the car first, unless I actually don't understand what I'm watching.
That's the windshield exploding from the first two rounds fired from the armored vehicle. He continues to fire through the trees and more as he rounds the corner.

The driver and anyone in the car was likely dead after the first few rounds.

Look at the bottom of your graphic. See those things called nukes? War mongers like you have no business being all butch and threatening a nuclear power like it's a cake walk. If only one nuclear weapon explodes, it's game over for at least a billion people, probably more like 5 or 6 billion.

So, what's your strategy then? If Putin threatens to use nuclear weapons, we just cave in to whatever he demands?

No, that's one of the questions. Another question is do we risk forcing the hand of a guy that could go crazy?

As long as one of his demands is that Ukraine can’t join the EU, I think it’s safe to assume he isn’t serious about a diplomatic solution and is fully intent on the complete conquest of all Ukraine.

I don't think that would be a deal breaker honestly. They could join the EU and the west could bolster their military. Not that I think that would be a good idea necessarily.

What is your solution, wipe out civilization? Once we provoke a confrontation with Russia over Ukraine, Russia may very well decide it is going to be destroyed and destroy the world in it's place.
I don't understand people like you that throw around the use of a nuclear weapon like it's just a big bomb and you can go to the beach afterwards.

So, at what point do you "force the hand"? If you allow Putin to take Ukraine and its 44M democratic people, where do you draw the line?

My solution is grounded in MAD. It's worked for 70 years.

Putin knows that if he uses nukes, Russia will be nuked.

There is no winner.

If he's rationale, he'll never launch nukes. If he's irrational, we're all already f*cked.

Thus, we should NEVER allow our policy to be dictated by threats of nuclear war.

Putin started this war. We need to make sure Ukraine survives. That's what this is all about.

When he attacks a member of NATO. Until then we sell weapons to any and all former Soviet block countries, provide intel, and sanction the crap out of him until he's broke.
