War in Ukraine

I tell you how everyone can come out of this (including Putin). He goes on state tv, says he has failed Russia in his endevour for national security, he did not intend for it to go this far, and resign. Hand it over to free national elections and everyone votes a new leader in. He will, at least, stay alive.
I can tell you that will definitely not happen. This may be the most delusional thing you've posted.

Not so delusional actually. He would be charged with war crimes if he ever left Russia, but he could live quite comfortably within Russia as part a withdraw. He would have to turn it over to free elections tho, and I'll bet he would rather appoint a successor. He would have to come to the realization that free elections would have to happen.

A democratically elected leader who campaigned on working with the west who immediately crawfished and did the opposite. The people voiced their displeasure and were ultimately met with force, they responded in kind and overthrew the government. When the government doesn't represent the peoples interest you change it.
So that justifies the US State Department going in and staging a coup? Really?

He would never go on tv, admit he failed Russia, and step down.

Doesnt really matter what they are. The Soviets/Russians killed off, or Gulag'd, Ukrainians, Crimeans/Tatars by the millions and moved in ethnic Russians, same thing china is doing in their west.

This time the people crossed the border, not the other way around.

Doesnt justify what Russia is doing, or make the fighting over the last 8 years "worse".

It's just noise to sell on the state run media.

Perhaps the best way to look at that is that Russia was the owner/operator of the Soviet Union. As such they sent Russians (ethnic or just thuggish) out to all manage/oversee the countries they rounded up and put in the Soviet Union; in other words overseers to make sure the local heathens/slaves stayed in line. When the Soviet Union fell apart, the Russians didn't take their trash back; and left ethnic or just thuggish Russians in place to create civil strife for the ex Russian owned slave states. Most people would probably understand why the recently freed states plundered by Russians and Russian sponsored communism wouldn't think highly of Russia.

And be remembered as something more than one of history's most pathetic leaders.

Didn't work so well for Pinochet or Fujimori. No, things just don't work that way. It is even less likely in Russia. He probably would not even make it to a tribunal. Modern boyars would see to that.

Yeah, the stage is being set for a false flag. Just like in Syria...

Or there is some intelligence to suggest it a possibility. I mean it's not out of the question, things done l don't seem to be going as well as the Russians thought.

So the Ukrainian regime should have just continued to attack the Donbas? After 8 years of fighting?
As Long as Putin used the Donbas as a staging ground for “low intensity” continuous proxy warfare against the legitimately elected government of Ukraine, you better believe they should. It is called dealing with armed rebellion and is the absolute duty of the state

Meanwhile, them biolabs... This story isn't going away. Now how long before we finally get confirmation that this disinformation turns out to be true, just like during COVID?

China Amplifies Russian Claims About Secretive US Bio-Weapons Research in Ukraine

Is anybody willing to bet their mortgage that we were not involved in gain of function research?

I am sure we were. What is your point? I thought they were in there killing Nazis like the Inglorious Bastards and freeing the Slavs from tyranny, now it's they were afraid of non-existent biological attack from a secretive us bioweapons lab? China is extremely trustworthy, how many total millions have the Russian and Chinese governments slaughtered in the last 100 years? 100 million?

Yep, there was no talk of biolabs when the invasion was announced--it's all an after-the-fact justification.

Read this thread on where it came from.

Nothing would surprise me anymore. That aside, this is China’s “hey, look over there” moment post Coronavirus outbreak.

A serious failure’: scale of Russia’s military blunders becomes clear

The average age of Russian soldiers in Ukraine is 20-25 years old, according to one western military official, compared with 30-35 for the Ukrainians, who are better-supplied and have a cause on their side. Many of the young Russian soldiers deployed meanwhile did not even know they were being sent into Ukraine, let alone that they would have to fire on fellow Russian-speakers. “It has become clear that a lot of Russian infantry are simply not willing to go into the attack,” said Chris Donnelly, an adviser on the Soviet military to four Nato secretaries-general. “Once morale really starts to collapse like this, you don’t have an army any more.”

I wouldn't put much faith in anything coming out of our government.

If China overtly supports Russia with war materiel, the US and all the West then face the prospect of what... now boycotting Chinese goods, services, etc.? Plus doing so would have huge economic consequences worldwide, and such action would seemingly effectively tighten the bond between Russia and China.

Just not good.

Our diplomats need to be spot-on in how they handle this potential cluster.

We couldn't boycott China because we wouldn't have any clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, car parts, tools or electronics anymore. Our politicians have sold us out by outsourcing everything.
