You've traveled quite a bit so you know exactly where we rank on freedom?
I travel all over the US, not sure I know where we rank on freedom. From NYC to LA. Headed to Miami for the game, one of my business contacts told me to “protect myself at all times”

According to this scale, 7th on economic freedom and looks like barely top 25 on personal

Your business contact sounds like a p**sy.

They're all different but seem to generally adhere to scores based on basic human rights, freedom of passage, decline/ascent of democracy, authoritarian reach, law enforcement, criminal justice, technological freedom, and wealth disparity.

While we're certainly still in the upper 10 percent of the world, which is awesome, we're not the most free nation on Earth like we constantly propagate. Kind of impossible to be at our size/scope.

I'm not sure why that's such a hard pill for some to swallow.
How is freedom a function of size? What is our scope in that context?

Simple.

The more civilians you have, the more complicated it becomes to govern them. It's a huge part of why Switzerland and Norway are idyllic in their freedoms.
A small country, being easier to govern, is easier to control. Look at Laos and Singapore, countries far from idyllic in their personal freedoms. Larger countries require heavier bureaucracy to achieve the same level of control, as you noted.
I don't see an effective correlation between size and freedom.

Possibly, but poison (?) and lack of a legitimate autopsy (if that's the case, idk), and we will probably never know for sure.
His family can have him autopsied. Was there an autopsy in Qatar?
It's a stretch to think anyone would kill the guy for writing what's common knowledge. That's some conspiratorical thinking.

Yeah, I don't know the answer to that question. And I'm just spitballing with "what if's?". Can the autopsy in Qatar trusted? If they get his body back to the US, does the amount of time and previous autopsy affect how and what a subsequent autopsy reports? I don't buy off on any conspiracy with everything we don't know. And who knows what being boosted multiple times will eventually cause?

How can you not see an effective correlation after stating the very opposite just before?

Get shot in the head in Chicago or thrown in front of a moving subway car in NYC, you’re weak or other choice words by DinkinFlicka. Kids classmates killed in Miami, dads choice words.

Yes, that is exactly what I said.

Sorry you feel like you need to live in such fear.

Oh I don’t. I’ve been fortunate to live in and experience life of NYC, LA and the other side of the tracks of St Louis. Life is comfortable and safer behind a computer.

One anecdote wins the argument!

They also don’t take into account that in most all of the countries listed above us you can be arrested for “hate” speech or even being in possession of certain swag. Most you can’t even defend yourself or your property, choose your healthcare and in most their criminal justice systems you are guilty until proven innocent. But hey their government mandates everyone gets 4 weeks vacation and you can get low interest loans from the government to pay for them so they’re freer.
