Was Notre Dame much better than UT?

Other than WR and QB and an o-lineman or two, is there even a player on the Tennessee roster that would start at Notre Dame?

I am thinking not. Notre Dame was exposed as a fraud---over hyped and Manti Te'o possibly the most overhyped player--ever. The Tennessee team we saw early in the season----GA, SC, even UF games---could have played with the Domers---IMO. Obviously UT got regressively worse later on, but on their best day, I say they compete with the Exposed #1 team. Last night was fraud night. Manti couldn't tackle---anyone. The Vols' O Line ranks among the best --lest we forget.

From this Vol fan's perspective ND just got whipped by a superior team. . .and NO, the Irish were not necessarily better than the Vols - they just executed better and consequently had a great record! Lastly, although Te'o had a bad night, to say that he is grossly overrated is ludicrous. . .did you watch him at all this season?? I saw four or five of his games and he was dominant! No defensive player has ever received the accolades that Monte did. The bottom line is that to give the Tide 5 weeks to prepare means that you are going to catch HELL!

I'm convinced the Vols will get there. . .just will take a bit of time.

ND wasnt much better than most of the teams they played. There were so many times that a simple play here and there would have completely turned the game on them.

Granted, it didnt, and they won those games, but they are not "Much better" than the top half of the SEC or the top half of the Big Ten for that matter.

(To kill the next comment, that I can feel coming already: The top of the SEC is indeed much better than the top of the Big Ten. but the bottom of the SEC is NOT better than the top of the Big Ten. So yall save yourself some typing there)

Manti Te'o had an extremely good season, but compared to every other LB in the SEC barely above average. And all this talk about Te'o, makes most of those outside the southeast forget about Clowney. Clowney is arguably the best player in the country, and Richardson held his own all but one play, granted a big play that changed the game. Our O-line would have matched up well with Notre Dame, but I think ND would have been more successful running the ball and ultimately beating UT

I ASKED the question "is ND that much better than UT" JUst answer, and omit the dumb & stupid remarks. Dang, you birds up in here. Act like morons. You want to swap emails and talk this over? Try me. You wouldn't say squat to my face----so lay off the comments in here.

you can save the Tony tough guy BS for someone else. you make a stupid thread, be ready for reactions.

the OP and others trying to make this argument are as dumb as a box of rocks. to even suggest that a 7 loss team is better than a 12-0 team is nuts. I'm no ND fan, but they beat about ten teams that went to bowl games this year. they blew out Oklahoma at Oklahoma. so they played a team that beat them at there own game, and you somehow try to relate them to Tennessee. just stupid.

ND is not a good team, I have said this since day 1.

The only good team they beat this year is Stanford.

If we played ND this year I dont think we would win, but they wouldnt beat us by more then 7 points.

Put down the crack pipe. They beat two BCS bowl winners/ conference champs in Stanford and OU. Went undefeated. Louisville pounded UF, does that mean they would do as well in the SEC? No.
Bama played lights out inspired. Who else would have fared any better last night?

Several SEC teams did a lot better vs Bama!
And when OU, Michigan, and Pittsburg get blown out by the SEC, what does that say about how weak ND schedule was?

Oklahoma and Michigan State aren't exactly pushovers.

I can't believe a thread is so homeristic that I'm defending Notre Dame.

Michigan state was a pushover

They weren't world beaters, but they were ranked . . . Just like Michigan, Oklahoma and Stanford. Throw in a win over the preseason #1 and their schedule was pretty decent.

Don't forget we had one of the worst defenses in the NCAA. 50-50 chance. We played Bama better...

And in the NC game we saw the same system that CBJ will run. Look how well it did against the SEC best. And we want to cheer stealing recruits from Cincy and Vandy???? Great hire Hart, way to F it up. The NC game is a shinning example of why you go after coaches that can get 4&5 star recruits, because you sure as hell won't beat anyone worth a damn in the SEC with the 2&3 stars we are getting.

Michigan state was a pushover

Michigan State lost 5 games by a TOTAL of 13 points. And most of those games hinged on one single play. A dropped TD pass here and there. A missed field goal here or there.

Not a great year for MSU, but they are far from being a push over.

On paper ND was a very good team. As we saw last night, they were totally exposed and had no business playing for a NC. They would be next to last or last place were they to be in the SEC East or West this year.

I love UT as much as anyone but ..........you have got to be joking to even ask such a question. Threads like this make our fan base look like....to put it nicely, not so smart.

We couldnt beat Vandy. As they say on ESPN.....Come on man!!!!![/QUOT Irish couldn't beat Vandy either
