We’ve found our offense..

Pearl got fired for lying. Barnes is the coach. The 5 stars are here because of Barnes not because of Pearl.

And you know, the 5 stars he's bringing in aren't just great ball players. He's recruiting high character kids. That hasn't always been true around UT basketball. It's enjoyable to watch these kids succeed. This is an incredibly likeable bunch of players.

I was worried about Bailey shooting too much and taking TN out of the game. Instead after making a couple of big scores he didn’t turn into a ball hog.
I think Bailey brings a bit if that dog mentality that is missing on the team. He reminds me a little bit of Ramar Smith. I am sure I see that wrong, but the Smith brothers. Not character off the court, but mentality on the court.

100% agree on all points. I do think he is the best spot up 3 shooter on the team but that's not how he is being used. I don't think he's being used in a way that makes us our best team. To me, if you are gonna play the frosh you have to compliment them. And in my opinion there are other players that do that. I think SV can be an incredible weapon off the bench. I am not suggesting we get rid of him. I was only talking a starring 5 that I felt can run other teams down.

Vescovi has just a bit over a year on the roster and is one of the most experienced players on the team. That is why Barnes wants the ball in his hands. He needs to be right alongside the freshmen. Do you remember which player knew to pull back and run clock around 2 minutes when the game was going manic?

I loved the way Keon was zoned in today. Both freshman were able to easily make it to the bucket all night. The high tempo definitely plays to both of their strengths. And I'd much rather play towards their strengths than others. We've already allowed our guards to shoot enough sub par 20% games from 3 and have had enough games where we fail to get anything going inside.

We've forced the halfcourt offense. But for this team, high tempo works well.
As teams potentially focus more on Johnson / Springer, Fulk+Pons will get more points.

That’s fine as long as the real dogs don’t stand around and watch VJ. JJJ, KJ, and JS need to be the dogs if this TN team is going to achieve greatness.

No worries. Didn't mean to come across combative but after seeing some of the other replies to your posts I can see why I did seem that way. I too believe I can construct a "best 5" without him, but I also believe I could construct a different "best 5" with him but just change our style of play. However, like you said, neither of us are on the UT coaching staff haha.
Thanks, Jello.

I just posted what I thought wiukd be a fast and fun starting 5. If I was defensive, my bad. I enjoy the back and forth with people who have different opinions. It how I learn! I agree with you. He is a great shooter but it's not how we are using him now. I want him on the team! I almost envision 2 teams. A starting 5 and a bench 5. Again, I am not a coach. But he'd be on my bench 5 coming in and killing it from behind the arc.

I’ve thought about utilizing a second five as a valid approach in the past. But the Gonzagas and the Baylors are running 6 or 7 man rotations.

Again, not disagreement. He has been on the roster for 13 months. Not about his ability/talent but fit in a top 5 of our best players.

Humphrey probably wasn’t one of Florida’s best 5. But there was a reason that he was on the floor with the future NBA players.

They do. But we are deep. Imagine a 5 that run the f*** out of teams and the a 5 that comes in and play a half court and shoot lights out. Crazy. Calipari tried a 5 and 5 squad one year if I remember correctly?
