We’ve found our offense..

And the team won without any points from Fulkerson and a double double from JJJ.

Springer and Johnson led the way and Tennessee pushed tempo all night long.

JJJ gets an honorary double double for putting a clamp on Keion Brooks. That guy was having a career night until JJJ beyotch slapped him.

Why haven't they done this all season? 🤔
Barnes has had the reins on them. Can’t blame anyone but himself. It’s obvious this team needs to play transition basketball to play to their potential because our 1/2 court offense is like TN football with JG at QB
I think the thought that Barnes wanting to play down hill may not be accurate. Barnes presser, post game...I think some of it is the light coming on for the frosh...hope it stays on!
On what changed with Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson in the second half:

“Obviously we started the game with too many fouls early. Got ourselves in trouble there where we were trying to work that. What we did in the second half was what we were trying to get done in the first half. Trying to get going downhill, 94 feet. And I thought those guys got in a rhythm there where you could just feel that they had that attack mode. The last couple days in practice all we had talked about is run, run, run, run, run and get out in transition. Get easy baskets, try to get teams back on their heels as much as we can. But the second really, I thought a big key in the second half, I think the last six or seven minutes, Josiah (Jordan James) did a nice job on (Keion) Brooks, because he was having his way with us. We were getting stretched out too much.

“I’m really proud of the guys. I thought second half they came out and, really, what I got onto them about at halftime, I said I want you guys to listen. I wasn’t very happy at halftime only because we weren’t listening when we were coming out of timeouts. Not doing the things we wanted to do. I said if you guys will listen, execute, we’ll give ourselves a chance. They did and I’m really proud of them for doing that.”

One thing I think helped the Freshmen is they were playing against a lot of former AAU 5 stars freshmen. That they felt comfortable playing against, sans Sarrs and he had foul trouble. I hope to see the same gusto vs Florida Wednesday but feel like they bring a much better D. Onward and Upward hope springs eternal.

Hope you're right OP. Pretty clear we won't be seeing KJ in orange next year. Hope Barnes doesn't pull a Dean Smith on us and stubbornly remain fixated on "his system". Pretty sure Smith would love a do over of the years he spent with Jordan on his roster. Jordan was a prisoner in that system. Barnes needs to adjust and adapt to what this roster can do and not force them to be something they're just not good at. He needs to let these guards play ball. Defense is all fine and well, but we need to let these kids have some fun and just do what they do while we have them.

At the 10-11 minute mark to go in the 2nd half, Keon and Jaden relentlessly attacked the basket and repeatedly scored and/or got fouled. The pushing the ball up court and letting these 2 go at it needs to continue and be our bread and butter.
Going through Pons and Fulkerson just hasn’t been cutting it. Vitale said at one point they’ll have to get Fulkerson back in the game to have a chance, won’t surprise me if he has the worst +/- today. He’s just not a PTP’er. But Springer and Johnson are. Once teams start focusing on stopping them and there drives, and them drawing the D with their drives, then VJ and Santi start getting open 3’s again. Pons and Fulky will get easier baskets in the paint again.
Also, Johnson is the one we need bringing it up the floor against pressure and presses, not Vescovi. His quickness and ability to get by defenders is elite
This was the game plan, but the early fouls caused a few problems. This was the first game where both Johnson and Springer played up to their potential. It was fun to watch, especially UK. If they continue to play as they did last night, we had better enjoy them while they are still here. I still hope we can get a true 5 player for next year. With Chandler coming in, we can have more success on the inside. He is a terrific Point Guard. If even one of JJJ, Johnson or Springer return, we will be very good next year.

They are men among boys. Looks like Barnes finally took off the bridle. Sadly, Fulk has gone full stop. He brought nothing tonight.
Yes he has had bad year so far but he looks like he has lost weight .. plus Samson cut his hair ... no really he is getting bad position defensively and touch fouling .. he's frustrated .. plays harder than anybody on court .. love ya Fulky .. you will be back

At least he will be back for 2021-2022:cool:

They did, but not so fast my friend. UK is 5-12 for a reason. The contrast in the UK and Ole Miss games should be obvious. UK provided virtually no pressure to bringing the ball up the floor. Even towards the end when they did, it was half hearted. UK does not play a defense that is problematic. I can’t believe the talent they have and how poorly they play at times. I kept noticing that Uk could never get the lead past 10 even when Ut seemed inept and the refs were controlling the game.

The freshman just exploded and that was the difference. UK still showed our issues in the post and our bigs looked hapless.

Overall, the win is great and the team should be applauded for playing through the horrible officiating. They flipped the score by 20.

Yup this is how it’s done

Leads the SEC in assist to turnover ratio. Do you understand what this means
Yes, I do. Thanks for asking.
I understand statistics. Several others have questioned my statistical knowledge and basketball IQ.
Stats are easy to point to when trying to shut people up. Right, Brady is the best because he has six rings. No argument? You all agree with this I assume? Or Barry Bonds is the greatest HR hitter in baseball?
Are all turnovers equal? Maybe, maybe not. SV makes some really bad passes that result in turnovers. Would everyone else in that position? I can't tell you. As I have said repeatedly, in my opinion, SV isn't one of our best 5 players. Not attacking him or saying he should transfer to Junior College. My original post was a comment as a fan about who I thought gives this team the best chance to win. That's all.
For those I have offended with my ignorance, I apologize.
Maybe I should have just started a thread asking who everyone thought our best starting 5 is. But then again, best 5 or most talented 5 doesn't mean that they play well together. Long story short, that was my point.

Put the ball in Springer or Johnson's hands and let's play offense. They can drive it dish to the bigs or to Vescovi or Bailey for the three.

Where would James be going? Certainly not the NBA

Chandlers high school team has beaten the #1 and # 2 team in the country this year.I can’t wait to see him play in orange..

That would be an honorary triple double. He earned the double double all in his own, no honorary needed. But, I get what you mean. His defense was impressive.
