We have ZERO playmakers....

...and this is why we will be in trouble Saturday. The only two potential playmakers we have, Young and Howard, are out. I'm not even sure what's wrong with Howard--who only touched the ball twice against WKU. We don't have a single guy with big-play potential on the field, though, yes, we could score a long TD if there is a breakdown of pass coverage or a missed tackle or two by the Oregon defensive backfield. And we are the most absurdly unlucky team with injuries. Maggitt hasn't played in forever. Young plays one game against little Austin Peay and breaks his wrist. On and on it goes. I feel the ill wind blowing our way again, I'm afraid.

This is the essence of all your posts lately.

Note that I said he barely stepped into the throw. Logic leads me to believe that his max is greater than 50. I know logic isn't supposed to be used here, but I like to break the rules from time to time.

Wind? Kidding. I think Worley's problem is the trajectory of his throws. They all seem a little too moonballish.

Now, that is something that you make a good point with. I agree that it is most likely a combination of route running and Worley, but that will get fixed with time.

That was an easy TD if Worley didn't under throw him so bad.

I don't know how many times I've read this comment this week. Worley had a DE going for his legs at the point of the throw. Couldn't step into it and was going backwards, so he just had to try and get the ball their on arm strength alone. When Worley has protection he can deliver the ball all over the field on the money.

exactly. ive seen that posted many times as well. i know he has not been very accurate but on that particular play he was on his way down. after the game they asked him about the catch and he said he did not see it bc he was laying on his back

Wasn't North just on ESPN top 10 plays?

Bah! Who have you been watching???? First of all, he underthrew North for a gimme touchdown in the first game, then in the same game he threw 3 ft behind ??? right in front of the endzone. The guy would have scored if the ball had been on the money. In the 2nd game, he underthrew Johnson for a sure td and North again! He was under 'some' pressure each time BUT THEY WERE WIIIIIIIDE OPEN. All he had to do was zing it. Finally, he underthrew North again down the sidelines for yet ANOTHER missed td. North had to slow and reach back for the ball. He had his guy beat down the sideline and if the ball was on target he sprints into the endzone. Worley SUCKS.

If some if you guys ever listened to the coaches interviews you would notice that they repeatedly point out that north keeps running the incorrect depth on his routes and that is the disconnect in getting him the ball. I guess it's just easier to blame Worley, though.

While that may be true in a lot of instances, how does one go about running the wrong depth on a "go" route??

We have plenty of playmakers. Worley just can't get it to them. He is an average to below average qb who is a place holder until one of the underclassmen who actually have talent is ready. It is what it is. Just like Simms was.

Young's injury happened in practice and Maggitt is comming off an ACL in the Missou game

Johnston ran the incorrect depth too? What about the other noodle arm throws?

you think you have zero playmakers

i know we have zero playmakers

If it wasn't for my policy to never "like" anything a gator or bammer says then you would possibly get one here. But I can give you a virtual thumbs up:good!:

I'm not at all ready to write Worley off. I remember Crompton. There are so many factors that play into it, and timing is a huge one. We were shuffling 4 QBs in fall camp and we are still shuffling WRs like crazy. Hard to get on the same page like that. You guys know, one of the things that makes Peyton so good is that he works tirelessly with his WRs to get their timing down. Has Worley underthrown some balls? Yes he has. Have the receivers been off on their routes? I'm sure they have.

It's still early in the season so no reason to panic just yet. Worley may not get any better as the year goes on. On the other hand, some receivers may emerge and he may be lights out by the end of the season.

Seems like I say this on VN a lot, but let the season play out, then we will know how good Worley is or isn't.

:good!:
