So you want to play players cause your scared they will transfer. Sounds like most of the coaches on here.

Yes I want to play the 5 star stud who hasn't been given a true chance yet. College football players transfer all the time and not getting playing time when the guy(s) in front of you aren't much if at all better is a solid reason.

So how many practices do you go to? Tell us how you know he hasn’t had a true chance. Playing time ain’t based on what a recruiting service says it’s based on being prepared.
Y’all f——- kill me!

No getting open across the middle is the job description. Credit for doing that.

He has that many drops because he doesn’t catch very good,, which by the way is also part of the job description.

You can’t be considered a good receiver if you don’t do both.

Can you tell us which games he had the drops in? I can’t think of even one except tonight.

You gotta wonder if he's portal bound at this point.

I’m pretty sure you know but there’s plenty on here that don’t
….there’s not to many scripted routes and not many freshman get a handle on Hypes Offence their first year. I’m pretty sure they are working hard on him. The last 4 games there hadn’t been to many chances to take risks.

The fact that this guy isn't seeing the field at all given the struggles of the other receivers is beyond ridiculous. We need to actually rotate bodies at that position until we find some guys who can perform when the lights are on.

This team could have put up 40+ points if not for the numerous drops. They spend all year talking about how deep and talented they are then play the same four guys.

I expect Matthews will play some against Mississippi State and he will definitely want to show out against his home boys in Athens.

He isn't doing what he needs to do in practice

When he earns it, he will play. You don't know that he would do better and games are not for OJT.

Fans don't get to demand to observe the "tryout" during games.

Our receivers can all catch the ball. They were not mentally into the game. Perhaps too much blacked out hype. They’ll be fine in standard home/away colors from here on out.

Matthews was in on several plays. He also whiffed a block on a bubble screen
And that is probably why it is taking awhile. Remember, Dylan Sampson did not see the field much his freshman year for the same reason. He whiffed on several blocks in pass protection, so ride the pine more than he would have otherwise.

So it doesn't matter whether he runs the right route, or blows up what could have been a great play because he didn't feel that block downfield was worth his time, or his responsibility? I keep forgetting, how exactly is this season going? Go back and look at the season averages for offense and defense from 98. You will see that we are better off overall on offense and defense. That team actually ran the ball a bit more that they passed and had a great defense. This team has more balance, more yards and an even better defense. Stop complaining and enjoy the run. If this offense gets all the pieces to click into place, the next 5+ games are going to be a LOT of fun.

You did see that he was in on several play, right? Had the ball thrown to him 2 or 3 times…

Yeah, it's utterly ridiculous our coach doesn't know who to play like you do🤭

Don’t worry JH will mention him again in the presser that he’s going to get more action. Watch the transfer portal on that guy, I’d think

AP didn't give a greatly reassuring answer to that question a couple of weeks ago as to Matthews. That's just a concern we have now with about any highly recruited player in CFB when things don't go perfectly for them from a personal standpoint.
