We want Mike matthews

Our receivers can all catch the ball. They were not mentally into the game. Perhaps too much blacked out hype. They’ll be fine in standard home/away colors from here on out.
I seriously doubt the uniform made receivers drop passes, guys miss blocks, or make wrong decisions.

The fact that this guy isn't seeing the field at all given the struggles of the other receivers is beyond ridiculous. We need to actually rotate bodies at that position until we find some guys who can perform when the lights are on.

This team could have put up 40+ points if not for the numerous drops. They spend all year talking about how deep and talented they are then play the same four guys

Do you even watch games?

He was targeted 3 times.

Quit making sh*t up.

Brazzell gets a pass in my book. He’s been making plays. Not going to throw him in the dumps because he dropped a diving attempt after the ground dislodged the ball. He was focused just couldn’t hang on
Agreed. The guy misses a pass he should’ve had but wasn’t a given. It’s not like even the best WRs don’t have some drops or misses. He’s fine. This fanbase just feels the need to POUNCE the first sign of ANYTHING questionably bad.

Matthews will be needed for the stretch run. He will get some targets vs. Miss. State and play his way into the rotation. Super to see the tight ends get so much action. The offense is still tuning up for the upset of Georgia.

There's 💯 some reason he's not making a bigger impact. I'm sure missing the off-season plays a huge role in it. I just don't think he knows the schemes and routes very well yet. He will be there eventually.

You gotta wonder if he's portal bound at this point.
Why would he be? It's a complicated offense and I think he missed a good bit of the off-season and was injured a bit during the early part of the season. He's getting more reps as the season goes on.

Like I said in another post, AP wasn't real reassuring a couple weeks ago when asked about it being a possibility. This is just the CFB world we live in currently. If a highly recruited player doesn't have everything go perfectly for him someplace, there are liable to be people in his ear. AP didn't say it was going to happen, he basically just said the idea was not crazy talk.

Matthews is working hard. He is focused on getting better. He played tonight just 1 his way but his time will come.He missed one block but had one great block. He will break out eventually. GBO
I remember how disappointed Hyatt was in '21, different guy in'22. I suppose thing happen in their own sweet time.

In that case, everyone has a possibility of entering the portal.

AP doesn't have any sort of inside knowledge into the inner thinkings of Matthews. So any speculation on that is silly. Matthews is just as likely to transfer out as any of our WRs.

1 target. He should be ahead of Squirrel and Nimrod
Dave Hooker said he's hearing he's still dealing with a hamstring issue. May be what's limiting. He agreed there's zero reason Nimrod should be out there over him. Dude is more inconsistent than Keyton was.

Brazelle, Nimrod dropped sure fire scoring plays. Kitselman got the ball jarred loose which was a pretty good throw. The worst pass of night Nico did get lucky that Georgia would have nabbed was the one the Kentucky defender dropped with no one around him for several yards so at least would have advanced the ball 10-15 yards had he caught it.
It would have been a pic six. Terrible play calling to be backed up and throw that long opposite hash throw. We got lucky on that one. It hit the Kentucky guy right in the hands

Also some of the missed catches were well defended a couple should have scored.

So how many practices do you go to? Tell us how you know he hasn’t had a true chance. Playing time ain’t based on what a recruiting service says it’s based on being prepared.
Y’all f——- kill me!
Yeah and ppl should remember Squirrel got no reps in a contested games just mop up in 2022 until Vanderbilt game. It's hard to just look at he's got a 5 star label put him in but he was in this game at crucial times not a mop up duty game so to me that's really good for a True Freshman.

he honestly should get some of nimrod reps and just see what he could do with the targets nimrod gets. he’ll be a starter next year with bru and thornton leaving, so i doubt he’ll transfer

Bring back old days punishment. Run the stairs after practice. See who's left. Cream will rise to the top

I know it’s a different position but I remember reading about the same frustration with Sampson his freshman year and people worried he would transfer. Matthews just needs time. He’s just a freshman and was apparently hurt throughout fall camp so he missed a ton of practice and development time.
