We would be winning 9-10 games if Kiffin was still here....

Yeah, yeah guys, I know he is the biggest slimeball snake to ever set foot on Shields-Watkins Field. He put the knife in all of our backs, and I hate him for that and how he did it..no question! I wish him the worst!

BUT, that slimeball snake brought valuable characteristics to this program such as confidence, swagger and arrogance! Do you guys realize that Tennessee was the most talked about 5-7 team EVER?! In one year, that man had TN football back on the map! Yeah, we went a mediocre 7-6, but look at the results from some of those games. We had to play #12 Virginia Tech in the Peach Bowl which wasn't fair, so he really could have/should have went 8-5. Hell, if Cody doesn't block the FG he could have easily went 9-4! Kiffin is what WE NEEDED at the time...I thought it was the PERFECT hire! Just turned out to blow up in our faces...but who saw that coming?!

So, with all this being said, what are some of your thoughts on Kiffin? Did you like him and feel was the perfect guy for the job when he got hired? Did you like his swagger and Cali arrogance? Do you think if he had stayed we'd be relevant again winning 9 or 10 wins...making New Years Day and BSC bowl games?

I'll admit, It killed me when I found out he was leaving...total dagger. I enjoyed his only year in Knoxville. Yeah, he made some horrible decisions off the field, but that man was just what the Doctor ordered AT THAT TIME!

We would be on probation if Lane was still here.

Dude is a good POSITION coach and he can recruit, I'll give him that. That being said he had a stacked team last year and this year and underachieved. Orgeron is doing better than him as the interim coach. He would not have survived. The only reason he won 7 games his first year here is because we had more talent than he let on.

What good is it to win 9-10 games a year if you are on probation for 6-7 years, ban from bowl games. and have you scholarship numbers reduced from 85 to 70? That together with 6-8 players being kicked out of school or in jail, we could hardly field a team. i think we are just fine with Jones, thank you. In addition, USC is playing much better football since he was fired and left in Arizona.

He had such a good eye for talent he told Boyd to go somewhere else, great call, his offensive scheme is modeled after the NFL offenses of the 1980's

Personally, I couldn't figure out why he was ever hired. If he didn't really want to be at Tennessee, I didn't want
him to be here. We would certainly have been into deeper NCAA trouble than we were in. Winning 9-10 games consistently would not have been happening anytime soon. We had one slightly better than mediocre recruiting season under Kiffin. When Kiffin decided to leave, that put recruiting in the toilet and Dooley just left it there. If Kiffin had really wanted to be Tennessee's Head Coach, things might have been different.

Shoot, at first , I thought I was in a coma for five months and thought it was April Fools Day, when I read this thread.

All I can say is if you're impressed with Kiffin you must really love Butch. He has recruited better than kiffin and will probably go 7-6 also with a MUCH harder schedule. Not to mention inheriting a much worse situation and roster than Kiffin did.

Tell me this...why did our entire fanbase try to trap him in the sports complex and burn it down with him IN IT?! If he was soooooo bad like all of you say, then we wouldn't have acted the way we acted when he decided to fly the coop! Tell me you weren't devastated when you found out...all of you! Be honest with yourselves

So wait, if we really hated Kiffin we would have not reacted and just kept quiet?

I was kind of devasted when I found out yes, that he didn't burn in the building :devilsmoke:

The little success Kiffin, had was with a Fulmer/Chavis team. Kiffin proved he could not coach while at USC. Dooley, proved he neither coach or recruit. The verdict is still out on Butch.

Butch, had better figure out fast how to bring in talent/beasts on defense or it's going to be a long 2014.

When Al Davis, the late Raiders Owner, warns against hiring you, you know there is problems. When Davis calls you a liar and says his tenure will set you back years, I think you should listen. Look at the 3 places, Kiffin has been and tell me that they are in good shape!

He has no bearing any longer on my football experience. He was better than Dooley. Fulmer averaged that many wins so we would be in that range had he stayed. He didn't, mattresses burned and it is over.

He would have been better than Dooley but in my opinion, would not have brought us to the heights that CBJ will take us. I want a national championship not a a Chik-fil-a bowl.
