Penn State moving UP after winning in OT against 3-2 So Cal is a bit contradicting. Bama staying the same after a near loss to SC, also contradicting.

Not saying we should be in the Top 10, just thinking out loud about those other moves ahead of us.

Alabama always gets love, but they did beat the number one team whereas we have really not beaten anyone of relevance and dropped a game to an un ranked. I think #11 is fair

I would have loved to see us in the playoffs this year, but more importantly I would have liked to have been in the "hunt" a little longer. I predicted 3 losses, which would absolutely eliminate us from the "hunt". I just thought we could have ridden the hype at least to the Georgia game.

Pretty easy to understand why Alabama is ranked higher. They have a great win. We do not. Their loss on the road to a 4-2 team is no different than our loss on the road to a 4-2 team. Stop saying “It’s Vandy.”

It also doesn’t matter because 1) it’ll be sorted out next week and 2) polls don’t meant squat anymore. Go 10-2 and you are in the playoffs. It’s that simple.

We’re still a 1 loss team currently. We are not eliminated. As crazy as it sounds, we could very well run the table. Even if we end up at 10-2 we’re getting in.

I am counting wrong? Serious question. Even IF we run the table, I am still counting 7 ahead of us. Remember that some of the conference champions are likely to be ranked below us, and half the teams are now in the big 10.

Next week after we beat them, the narrative will change and it will be that Tennessee beat a bad Bama team.

Vandy is going to be a tough game this year. They are not the typical Vandy team. Pavia is a good QB, I wish we had him.

Well, it looks like our playoff hopes are now all but gone.

We have to win - that has always been the case. A second loss is where the hopes diminish considering what is happening in the other conferences.

Some of the teams above us play each other - there will be losses that will drop them.

Penn State plays OSU
Texas plays UGA, they also have A&M
LSU has Bama, at Arkansas and A&M
UGA has Texas and Us
Bama has Us, LSU, Missouri

Of the teams above us, some have easier glide paths Iowa State and Miami are more than likely not going to lose another game. Oregon has very little challenges left. Those three are probably in even if they lose their championship games because they will probably not worse than 1 loss teams.

In reality, Texas needs to beat UGA while we take care of Bama. That pushes both of those teams to 2 losses and moves them below us.

I haven’t seen anything from Bama to make me think we can’t beat them. I’m not saying we will, they’re a good team, but our season isn’t over.

I have a hard time believing there are only ten teams better than us in the country. I love the Vols but at some point you have to be realistic.

All the teams we beat are proving to be scrubs. Oklahoma got dominated. We haven’t beaten anyone this season. Honestly might not even be a top 20 team. Guess we find out this Saturday.

Outside of a few at the top I’m not sure who is really that good. Motto is win and get in the playoffs to give yourself a shot at getting hot. We could be one of those teams…or we could be back in Charlotte for the Mayo Bowl

Yeah but bama already dropped from 1 to 7 for losing to vandy. Can’t use that loss for this week’s poll.

I think bama at 7 is fine because quite frankly they have proven more than we have. If we beat them Saturday then we will probably move back to top 7

By the way Vandy would beat the Vols if they played today.

In reality, Texas needs to beat UGA while we take care of Bama. That pushes both of those teams to 2 losses and moves them below us.

A UGA loss to #1 TX and a top ten Alabama will not put them below us UNLESS we beat Alabama next week.
