I know aren’t looking for an answer and you might not be asking a question but I felt like putting this out there because people seem to get it backwards. The country was founded by people who were influenced by men like Hobbes, Paine, and Locke. That influence being that our rights rights are derived from nature and are not granted by the decree of government. I think people ought to keep that in mind more these days. In my opinion the proliferation of that ideology is probably the greatest lasting accomplishment of the United States. Or perhaps I should speak in the past tense as so many seem to be forgetting thatThe rights of all people? Who decides what those rights are?
Individual rights? Who decides what rights an individual has?
Edit: Not looking for an answer - but I saw my name in your post
I might not make that argument. But it’s interesting you bring up AIDS. It’s now legal in California to have AIDS and to not disclose it before having sex. Try to wrap your mind around that one. Especially coming from one of the states that has gone the wildest about COVIDDo you do that homosexuals who put thier live at risk getting aids??? It thier life not for you to judge and mock..what you feel is the right choice may not be for everyone so to judge and mock a person foe thier choice...just makes a person an a**hole
I'm beyond happy with society having evolved to the point where the majority believe that certain rights are inalienable.I know aren’t looking for an answer and you might not be asking a question but I felt like putting this out there because people seem to get it backwards. So there is a level in your mind that once exceeded, requiring a mask is appropriate?Highest concentration of germs and bacteria? I never said COVID wasn’t real. The numbers are just blown out of proportion and over exaggerated
Hospital/ nursing is the one place I follow the mask orders. If an at risk person wants to walk around in public then he has willingly accepted the risks. But I’m not going to enter his domain and expose him to risks that he’s not consented to via his actionsI wouldn’t walk into a hospital without a mask. But anywhere else they can kiss my ass
It drives me up a tree when people phrase words as if our rights are derived by decree ( not accusing you of that ). For instance, when people call driving a privilege it makes me want to vomitI'm beyond happy with society having evolved to the point where the majority believe that certain rights are inalienable.
Not a damn thing. I’d say to myself “I personally would respect a mask in this environment but hes a free man to do as he feels is best for him”So there is a level in your mind that once exceeded, requiring a mask is appropriate?
And the level in your mind is the correct one?
What would you say to someone who refused to wear a mask entering a hospital?
Masks aren't common sense and a lot of the data shows they don't do much. But if asked by a private business one should respect their wishes or not enterPractice common sense and wear your mask during the middle of a freaking pandemic and no one will have to dictate anything to you. No one wants your guns. Good grief.
I believe most (maybe just some) people understand that their is a balance between individual rights and societal rights. It is impossible to have one without the other. The debate has to be about the proper balance. Most of us are beyond pissed that a portion of society are happy being dictated.
Yes, it’s illegal for a business and legal for an individual. All I’m arguing is that businesses don’t have the same freedoms as an individual. What we’re talking about is not a simple thing. We’re talking about businesses that many people have worked at for years, established themselves and raised their kids on that salary suddenly telling you you have to take an unproven shot to keep your job. Yes they can walk away freely but they can’t get an equal job that doesn’t require the same under Biden’s mandate. What if the employee had an attorney draw up a legal contract that said something along the lines of “If you’re going to force me to take this shot to keep my job, OK. But sign here saying you’re legally responsible if I have complications.”? Do you think any owner would sign? Hell no! So what gives them to right to force a mandate to employees if they wouldn’t be willing to accept the penalties? If you force the mandate, you express confidence in it. But I’d bet my left arm they don’t trust it enough to sign that paper. And that’s exactly what I would do.
How many people do you know that have had breakthrough infections. Honestly?
Also, those people who've had breakthrough infections are still alive - so you know, they have that going for them. That's akin to people bemoaning having to get the flu shot every year because they never get the flu.
The truth is, one doesn't know they need it or if it's unnecessary until you have it. It's an unnecessary roll of the dice.
