What do you REALISTICALLY hope to see this Saturday?

lol you remind me of my Grandpa when he gets likkered up and starts in about fighting Germans in 8 feet of snow while us wee Nancy boys only had to worry about forgetting our suntan oil and beach balls. :worship:

Sounds like your grampa should have pulled out.

You'd love a bowl game in shreveport right now much less one bcs game.

Only someone butthurt would discount four straight BCS bowl games with a winning record overall as nothing. Another truth, your players would freak if they had our unis.
#REALReality

I love it....

Barely above .500 record, losing bowl record, no National Titles, and the most made fun of uniforms next to Maryland. Facts.

Discipline! Gap control, D playing within the scheme every down, no heroes just playing Team defense. Oregon's speed is displayed week after week, however the SEC and its recruiting philosophy has always been known for athletes with size + ......SPEED. We obviously don't want a 60 min foot race but I dare to think there's not a sizable gap in pure speed, more matchup issues than anything (which is the point, I know) our D is much faster as a unit than previous years. If....IF you keep QB in the pocket, make him beat you throwing the ball, we might hang around longer than the experts think. However if Worley doesn't quickly learn how step UP in the pocket and throw vs side to side back foot throws, it won't matter how well our defense plays. Disclaimer- imo

^This. Contain their QB. The guy tore off a QB draw against UVA and it looked like he outran his wideouts. The O is just gonna have to run.

I hope we can focus on containing the run option from the Oregon QB. When a QB gets out of the pocket our D has trouble. Hopefully CBJ can use the film from WKU and say look here's where Oregon would have gotten us....I'm thinking of the WKU throwing that final interception when he had just a ton of space to run. And I'm concerned about our QB being able to make the throws he should be able to make with accuracy and timing and the receivers being able to adjust to him and catch the balls they should catch.

Generally, I'm concerned with injuries happening. and also just lack of speed to prevent big plays from Oregon and lack of speed to make big plays on offense.

I think if we can stop big plays, have a really good receiving game, and generally control the tempo and clock this one could be close. That is, however, a lot to ask at an away game. If we can keep the score low at halftime--maybe we don't have to be winning but within 1-2 touchdowns-- we have seen great 2nd half adjustments from Butch and I think that would give us the best chance to come out with a win.

Why I even have a tiny bit of faith---I think Dooley and Sal would have easily lost to WKU and CBJ found a way to smash them in the second half. Yes it was a lot of luck first half--but what team doesn't need a lot of luck? Another poster said they feel like this week with Oregon is similar to what WKU had to deal with us--a more talented team with home field advantage... now that didn't work out with WKU because CBJ made those half time adjustments but who's to say Oregon's coach will have that same kind of success? Don't sleep on the vols yet. But a lot of things are going to have to go our way in this game.

Ah, looking at our record since the beginning. I'm sure that doesn't skew anything. Check from the late 80's and get back to me.

Made fun of? You, are truly out of touch. Your own players wanted more unis after playing us. Read it right here on this site. Coincidence? Nah brah....

Coincidence our unis are mentioned in recruiting circles? Nah brah....that's only the beginning of what can be offered at Oregon.

It's amazing the dividends that have been reaped simply from the unis. That was just the beginning of a simple plan. Pretty amazing for a school in a state with little D1 talent. It is only getting better and stronger.

Go on though about how our unis mean nothing....lol.

:eek:lol: good stuff!

I hate to be so negative but they could be up by as much as 21 in the first quarter. they have a chance to beat the pants off of an SEC team and show that they are ready for a national championship. They're going to try to put as many points on us as possible.I hope that our defense shows up in a big way but I'm afraid that in the deep quarters they are going to be too tired to keep up with Oregon and even if we keep the game close they're gonna blow us out in the second half of the game.

A spirited and fired up first half of with the "63" philosophy. A strong second half effort like we saw on Saturday with actual coaching adjustments to the defensive and offensive game plan. Make it a track meet if necessary as long as the team doesn't quit and continues attacking until the final gun.

Have visited Cali and Washington state but never Oregon. Would love to see this game and get the Autzen experience.

I think this is where coach Jones can leave his mark, I'm not sure he can overcome the loser mentality in Dooleys players but I do believe Vols will climb upward once he gets a couple classes of his own recruits in.

not give up big plays...control the ball/clock...no turnovers...at least give ourselves a chance but our youth could have the wheels come off and oregon will punish a team quickly for mental errors

If I could have one wish for this game, it would be that we make Oregon beat us throwing the football, and find a way to limit the big plays. Unfortunately our linebackers are still a step slow, and there are actually very few defenses that would be capable of achieving that in 2013.

I think that will be the game plan for both teams. I'd be very surprised if we don't stack the box and try to exploit Worley's weaknesses.

Agree 100%. I think Oregon will see a much heavier dose of WR screens from UT's O.

Oregon will have a much easier time getting desired match ups no matter how many players UT puts in the box, but they could say that about any opponent this year, with the possible exception of Bama or LSU (if they play in the NC) or Stanford.

UT will be dependent on their defensive ends pushing plays as far as they can to the side line, and Oregon will likely have their biggest plays when they cut the ball back from contain. Our gap discipline is better, but we don't have the speed to provide the backside help.

I have to disagree here. A big draw of Tennessee is its tradition and I know many of the players and recruits see Tennessee's uniforms as iconic. While I do think they get hype over having a new uniform (the smokey for example), I know many players who think that Oregon goes way overboard.

Your uniforms are talked about for sure, but not necessarily in a good sense anymore. I don't know a single person who didn't think those all-bright green uni's weren't atrocious.

Wish I could go. Oregon is a beautiful state. It has been a few years since I have been there.

No injuries and improvement on both sides of the ball. It's hard to have a "positive" loss but if we play a sound football game and keep it respectable we can build on that going forward.
