What does Tennessee have to do to make the NCAAT now?

The record might not glisten, but I dare say no other team has this season's story line that Tennessee has, with the myriad personnel changes due to graduation, draft, defections, and injury. Coach has had to sculpt and re-sculpt, manage, and teach throughout the season with the inclusion of new bodies in January. What an incredible job to keep this team's spirit and fight a constant work in progress!

If we win 3 out of the next 4 coupled with what it has accomplished over the past week, I think it would be too compelling for the committee to ignore. I think many of the favorites would dread seeing Tennessee in their respective brackets.

The committee will likely put less consideration on the games we had Turner for.

Probably some. My opinion is that we’re not as good. But the committee has said they take personnel changes into consideration. If we finish the season with wins against the 4 best teams in the conference, Florida, UK, Auburn and LSU. Then that should sway them.

We obviously have to win a few more, but I believe it also depends on how some of the bubble teams finish and if there are no surprise conference winners. Go Vols!

Imagine getting hot at the right time. This team has the ability to play with anyone. Win at Rupp. Close hard fought loss at Kansas. Tough loss to FSU. If they watch their turnovers and stay somewhat consistent from 3. Sneak into the tourney and make an elite 8 run. Wow wow wow. No one thought Auburn would be in the final four.

I do disagree with Palm (if we lose to Auburn and make it to SECT Finals, we would have almost the exact same resume as UF last year that got a 10 seed).

I do think this does prove that we have a ways to go and those that thought a couple weeks ago that we could get in going 2-3 in Final 5 games plus 1-1 in SECT were a bit misguided.

The Auburn game is huge for many reasons since if we lose, that would make us a 15 loss team looking for an at-large bid (if we don't win SECT). Only 3 of those have got an at-large (2 of those had top 3 SOS and one was the UF team that went 20-15 last year).

You aren't wrong there. I think if we beat Auburn, we are squarely on the bubble. If not, then we need 2 in the SECT to even be in the discussion and likely 3 to feel safe.

The fact we are popping up on first four out means we are right there as is, fact is barring huge runs there aren’t many teams behind us, the bubble is actually pretty small. In theory if everyone in front of us wins their next 3 then us winning 3 probably isn’t enough? That’s what makes it impossible to say.
