While all minarchists are libertarians, not all libertarians are minarchists. Libertarianism is an ice cream shop with many different flavors, so to speak.
I'm probably butchering the definition a bit, but...Minarchism sees the practical utility/necessity in a minimal State, where the government's role is limited to protecting individual rights and providing essential services such as national defense, law enforcement, and a legal system. Generally, it's based on a realization that in the real world, bad actors do exist and will cause injury or otherwise trample the property rights of others if left unchecked by law enforcement (on a smaller level) and military (on an international level). Another term for it is a "night watchman state".
That's a thoughtful position. If we don't like the change in tune, and not about what the tune is, does it matter if the tune changed to gain political favor or election.wonder if he believed his position either time - I'm betting the Hitler comment was to gain some political favor just as back tracking has been.
it's what those seeking power do unfortunately
You seriously believe Trump is Hitler? Would you pleeeeeease provide some examples as to how you arrive at that conclusion?
I don't. JD Vance does.
LG believes it when words put those he oppose in a bad light but doesn't believe it when it puts them in a good light.
JD, then, was being truthful and sincere with Trump = Hitler, and now untruthful joining the Trump campaign as VP.
Even though we constantly see President / VP tickets where two in previous opposition (and saying harsh things about each other) are now united on the same ticket supporting each other.
Instead of "or" it could be "and".No, no, he can change his mind.
I just think he was either being insincere at the time or is being insincere now because it politically advantaged him to do so then, or now.

Vance should be held to the same standard as other "tune changers".personally I don't respect changing a tune as strong as this just to favor - I don't justify the behavior
I'm more commenting on the treating this like it's some kind of outlier, unique to Vance.
Another thought about "changing the tune".
I think it is more believable when someone in the 20s or 30s changes their tune over a few decades. Who among us hasn't experienced that in yourself? I know my opinions are not the same, some even radically different, compared to when I "knew everything" in my 20s - early 30s.
