What other message boards (Tennessee’s remaining SEC opponents) are saying about Tennessee (bye week edition)

Saying we're "exposed" would suggest our offense is mediocre, which isn't remotely the case. We also had a couple of key OL guys injured. I get we don't want our shades too orange, but your claims are exaggerated in an effort to come across as objective
Some people try so hard to be right they end up ignoring all context and lose objectivity.

1 INT a bad decision
1 INT QB hit as he threw
2 Strip sack fumbles

We need to get our OL healthy and tighten up our pass protection, but any team is going to struggle with both 1st string OT's out against a DL like Oklahoma.

Cause for concern? Sure.
A glaring weakness or exposed? Meh....

You used the word "exposed" out of context in an earlier post and now you're stating we have a "glaring weakness". Of course there were a couple of breakdowns last game. We were playing against a stout defense. Other teams can be elite too. We overcame it with solid play and game adjustments. Our "glaring weakness" got "exposed". Put away your word games....

In this thread you've gone from Oklahoma shut down our run game, to Nico's NCst turnovers, to Nico fumbling on strip sacks while describing us as 'being exposed'.

It isn't clear to me and I'm not trying to play word games, but are you calling Nico or our OL the glaring weakness?

Say what you want but a lot of this is right. Our O got exposed by OU. Sure we were able to score. But Oklahoma did to our offense what Georgia does year in and year out. They shut down the running game and made our passing game look meh. And they are right that OU could have beat us if they had a QB that wasn't lost as last year's Easter eggs.
Der, der....bUt wE beAT OU! yEr aN IdiOt .......
Sure we won. We deserved to win because we played our butts off. But a complete team like Bama, Texas, GA are going to have as good a defense as OU and the offense to go with it. We won't put north of 20 on Georgia. Hopefully that defense of ours is as legit as they appear. Our D is the real deal. They can play with anyone in the country. That secondary is still a question mark. I clearly see that we made HUGE improvements from the last 2 years.

This guy seems as mentally stable as his profile picture implies

With respect, GA was relevant almost every year that Mark Richt was the coach. Of coarse unless you mean one must win a championship to be considered relevant.
Richt basically was Fulmer without a title. Heck if not for Saban being here Richt possibly has a title or two at Georgia.

Really think Ryan Day is Ohio State’s Mark Richt if they don’t win a title soon.

Ok, well it’s obvious that some football challenged GA fans made some dumb comments and some idiotic statements.😂. Oh well, I have to live with that just like you guys have to live with your football challenged fans doing the same, as does every other major college football program. On the upside, it does provide material for you guys to enjoy a thread such as this.😂

Also, it’s no mystery why CJH got conservative against Oklahoma. I’m not going to be long winded and attempt to explain all of the many reasons, I’ll just broadly say that he chose the strategy that gave TN the best chance to win this game given the circumstances and the direction the game was going. Some of you above hit on many of the reasons. It was a smart move for the way this game was unfolding and it certainly paid off. Much better to surely win than maybe win by 30 points. Everyone that watched the game and understands football knows that it was a dominating performance over the Sooners.
Serious question: How are you a Georgia fan? You seem far too humble and circumspect. Is it just pure family loyalty or something?

I became a GA fan in the early 90’s as a young kid. I guess I was steered that way bc of my dad being a GA fan. That and just the fact that I was born and raised in GA. GA wasn’t very good when I chose them as my team, but probably mostly for the reasons above I chose them, and have been a lifelong fan.

At the moment we have many fair weather and band wagon fans because of recent success. I remember many of these people that I’m surrounded by were once FSU fans because way back FSU was competing for and winning National Championships. I can’t stand that kind of fan. Sure they sport around all the GA clothes and memorabilia today, but before they used to ridicule GA and point out to me how terrible my team was. They are not true fans, they make me sick to my stomach at times.

If you're trying to sound like you know what you're talking about, you're not doing a very good job of it

After more thought, it is the Nico hype that is driving this. For where he is at, Nico is doing a great job and even the experts are stating that. The issue is that fans expect him to just come out and ball like vintage 2022 Hendon Hooker, Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, Joe Burrow, Bryce Young, etc.

Two thoughts about that:

1. None of these QBs were playing at that high level when they were in the spot Nico is in now
2. We haven't necessarily needed Nico to ball out. Some of the most vintage games (take 2022 Alabama with HH) required these QBs to step up and make plays during times of desperation. Go back and look at these QBs, even in their best year, they had some low output games, especially at the start of the season. Cam Newton struggled with Clemson as an example (this was before Clemson was the great Clemson btw).

To be fair, Kirby has them playing at an entirely different level than past Georgia teams. We haven't even had a game close to them yet. They can talk trash. Sadly, that is the way College Football works. Not just Tennessee; Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, etc. No one is close to them right now except Alabama.

The one difference in the 1990s is that there were powerhouses outside of the SEC and the recruiting wasn't so centralized as it is now (I think the national exposure impacts that). Therefore, Tennessee could have a #5 recruiting class and still win the SEC. Now it seems like Tennessee gets #5-7 recruiting class and we are still 3rd or 4th in SEC pecking order.
It’s still not enough to erase the memory that, as a player, Kirby was Peyton’s beeotch, and we owned them for a straight decade.

Ask any Georgia fan from Gen-X or elder Millennials. We’re still in their head, and I love it.

True but we never did what they did in the 1990s. In a way, Peyton was a letdown because no National Titles and a year we were able to get to Atlanta only because Florida stubbed his toe twice. Even then, that 1997 year ended on a thud with that blowout loss to Nebraska.

Georgia the last 3 years has 2 National Titles and another 12-1 season. Far better than our Manning era.

Tee Martin actually had a more successful 2-year run than Manning's 3 year run (or 4 if you count his freshmen year but he didn't start every game).

Peyton Manning is a hall of a famer and Tennessee icon but Tennessee did not do enough when we had him.

And still yet, Georgia fans wince when they hear his name.

Also, the QB needs to get ride of the ball sack, as well as a hit to the ribs, arm, or head.

Kirby smart is a very likable coach, but all of these bandwagon bulldogs are pissing me off. They must be the same group that was Florida fans when Meyer was coaching.

Last year there was a drunk young man barking like he was 10 feet tall in Neyland to the point that people started turning to him to tell him to knock it off, stop cussing, etc. He talked **** to a man who was beyond retirement age and I still feel ashamed that I didn’t pick him up and throw him 10 rows down. All I could think about is that I needed to get home to my family and not go to jail.

Real Georgia fans know that TN has had their winning streaks also and that it will flip back and forth over time. These bandwagon yappers don’t realize that Stetson Bennet was the best thing that happened to them since Charlie Ward, and they’re both long gone from the roster.
This was almost my exact experience with NC State fans in Charlotte, minus the barking but with constant insults to the team, the school, and everyone around. I told the dude to STFU after he started going after my wife and mom and he threatened to attack me.

A few rows back were an identical group of NC State fans. Wish nothing but the worst for the adopted useless step child of the Carolinas from here on out.

We were #3, I was a senior that year. We also went 5-6 (I think we only played 11 games that year). Defense was good but Offense was very poor.
I have the athlon magazine in storage, ranked as preseason number one. I had it framed after we sucked it up so bad. I think sports illustrated had us third or something. We had 10 preseason All-Americans that year.
Gerald Riggs Jr
Aaron Sears
Jesse Mahalona
Kevin Simon
Parys Haralson
Omar Gaithor
Etc.

Some of the bad things Bammer and uga fans wrote, hurt my feelings. I didn't care for those comments and hope UT pummels Bammer and uga. I mean am I disrespectful to their teams? Well they deserve it though.

Favorite part of OP, nothing found from Vandy or Miss St. I assume that means nothing found on message boards at all, and just regarding UT. What could they be talking about, the weather? I take that back about Vandy. They are doing pretty well. Should be 4-0. To sum up my post, I really don't have anything of value to say.

@DirtyDawg, I have to ask an honest question to a reasonable uga fan.

Did no one really think through naming a building Butts-Mehre? I get why those individuals were chosen, clearly, and it is an unfortunate combination of last names to be sure, but is it intended to be a (rather weak) joke, or were the committee members on that project just too clueless to recognize what they were doing?

If it were me, I would have selected two separate buildings and applied the gentlemen's name to them. But that's just me.

I say this all the time, but my biggest problem with Georgia is that they really just became relevant in 2017, but I swear they act like they've been there all along.

They remind me of a more severe version of James Franklin's Vandy. Those guys talked like they had been hanging with the big boys all along. Their reality check was so nice to see, and Georgia's will be too.

Horrible offense?? You scored 13 on KENTUCKY. South Carolina's QB literally needs glasses to see and they scored almost 3x as many points on Kentucky.
I can not throw shade on Georgia considering our last 25 years. At least they have metal in their trophy cases in Athens. Where have we been?

Alabama
-Tennessee’s defensive line is going to make a lot of offensive lines look bad this year.

-I’m still not impressed by Tennessee. If Oklahoma could’ve thrown in that game, they would’ve murdered Tennessee.

-Oklahoma exposed Tennessee’s offense and we should absolutely roll in Neyland this year.

-Tennessee is a paper tiger. We’ll all see them crumble soon enough.

-I really think Tennessee is better on both sides of the ball than Georgia, I expect a much tougher game in Knoxville than I do against Georgia.

Georgia
-I’m not worried at all about Tennessee. They are one of the most overrated teams currently.

-Tennessee has a horrible offense, but good defense.

-Oklahoma exposed Tennessee. Tennessee will look good until they run into Bama and us.

-Tennessee and Arkansas will be a war and those hillbillies will come back down to earth.

-Stop the run. Don't get beat deep. A simple formula to absolutely beat the piss out of an average Tennessee team.

-The Vols will be a challenge. They can play defense and while raw, their QB has the physical traits and moxie to make life tough for even good defenses.

-LOL at anyone that thinks Tennessee is a good football team. Kirby will skull frick them.

Florida
-Vols continue to dominate opponents with so-so QB play. They’ll do the same thing to us.

-Tennessee's defense is way better than last year. We're going to have a hard time scoring on them. Their offense looks a little worse but they won't have any issues moving the ball on us.

-Tenn is going to kill us.

-Tennessee is really good on both sides of the ball. Their DL is deep and stout. Very envious.

-Josh coached his team to a win without humiliating his Alma mater and not having to open his play book.

-Tennessee is pretty good, on both sides of the ball. Heupel is only in 4th year there. They were in bad shape and their roster wasn’t much when he arrived. How did they get so good?

Arkansas
-Tennessee and Ole Miss look better than Texas - especially if Ewers remains limited through the rest of the season.

-We get to show OU how it's done week after next. We should beat Tennessee.

-The Vols definitely made a point to introduce OU to the jungle. The hitting in that game was crisp.

Kentucky
-It’s early in the season but UT and UT look like the best two teams in the country to me.

-We usually don't do well against teams like Tennessee. Too many mistakes on the back end. It took a few coaches that didn't work out, but they are a top 10 program again and will be a regular playoff team..

-UT has a good offense and they also appear to have a solid, if not good, defense as well.

-Saying good things about Tennessee football is almost painful....but that's a mighty good football team. Mighty good.

-Tennessees q-back is pretty good but he can’t protect the ball, twice he’s lost it because he careless with it. We should feast on that.

-Mark Stoops makes the same money as Josh Heupel. One team going to be in the playoffs and the other fighting for a mid-tier bowl bid.

-Josh Heupel has the ball rolling in Knoxville. You can’t deny it.

-The fact that Tennessee can control the clock or absolutely shred you through the air and run it up on you makes them the scariest team in the country.

Miss State (nothing I could find)

Vandy (nothing I could find
There are really people in this world who are truly oblivious, or just plain dumb.
