What other message boards (Tennessee’s remaining SEC opponents) are saying about Tennessee (bye week edition)

Alabama
-Tennessee’s defensive line is going to make a lot of offensive lines look bad this year.

-I’m still not impressed by Tennessee. If Oklahoma could’ve thrown in that game, they would’ve murdered Tennessee.

-Oklahoma exposed Tennessee’s offense and we should absolutely roll in Neyland this year.

-Tennessee is a paper tiger. We’ll all see them crumble soon enough.

-I really think Tennessee is better on both sides of the ball than Georgia, I expect a much tougher game in Knoxville than I do against Georgia.

Georgia
-I’m not worried at all about Tennessee. They are one of the most overrated teams currently.

-Tennessee has a horrible offense, but good defense.

-Oklahoma exposed Tennessee. Tennessee will look good until they run into Bama and us.

-Tennessee and Arkansas will be a war and those hillbillies will come back down to earth.

-Stop the run. Don't get beat deep. A simple formula to absolutely beat the piss out of an average Tennessee team.

-The Vols will be a challenge. They can play defense and while raw, their QB has the physical traits and moxie to make life tough for even good defenses.

-LOL at anyone that thinks Tennessee is a good football team. Kirby will skull frick them.

Florida
-Vols continue to dominate opponents with so-so QB play. They’ll do the same thing to us.

-Tennessee's defense is way better than last year. We're going to have a hard time scoring on them. Their offense looks a little worse but they won't have any issues moving the ball on us.

-Tenn is going to kill us.

-Tennessee is really good on both sides of the ball. Their DL is deep and stout. Very envious.

-Josh coached his team to a win without humiliating his Alma mater and not having to open his play book.

-Tennessee is pretty good, on both sides of the ball. Heupel is only in 4th year there. They were in bad shape and their roster wasn’t much when he arrived. How did they get so good?

Arkansas
-Tennessee and Ole Miss look better than Texas - especially if Ewers remains limited through the rest of the season.

-We get to show OU how it's done week after next. We should beat Tennessee.

-The Vols definitely made a point to introduce OU to the jungle. The hitting in that game was crisp.

Kentucky
-It’s early in the season but UT and UT look like the best two teams in the country to me.

-We usually don't do well against teams like Tennessee. Too many mistakes on the back end. It took a few coaches that didn't work out, but they are a top 10 program again and will be a regular playoff team..

-UT has a good offense and they also appear to have a solid, if not good, defense as well.

-Saying good things about Tennessee football is almost painful....but that's a mighty good football team. Mighty good.

-Tennessees q-back is pretty good but he can’t protect the ball, twice he’s lost it because he careless with it. We should feast on that.

-Mark Stoops makes the same money as Josh Heupel. One team going to be in the playoffs and the other fighting for a mid-tier bowl bid.

-Josh Heupel has the ball rolling in Knoxville. You can’t deny it.

-The fact that Tennessee can control the clock or absolutely shred you through the air and run it up on you makes them the scariest team in the country.

Miss State (nothing I could find)

Vandy (nothing I could find
georgia and bama fans are idiots

The Florida Fan got it right. Josh didn't want to humiliate Oklahoma and didn't have to open the playbook. The OL was another factor, but that's only because he didn't need to put Nico at risk to win.

lol Josh woulda 100% ran the score up if our oline was playing well. They played like trash, that’s why he went conservative. That and well we have an elite defense we can lean on. Period.

And man it’s good to see people on here just don’t say dumb ****. Not the typical UGA head up their ass behavior (that’s to be expected) but stuff like “Their offense appears a little worse than last year” is insane. That UF fan is in for a rude awakening 💀

Ok, well it’s obvious that some football challenged GA fans made some dumb comments and some idiotic statements.😂. Oh well, I have to live with that just like you guys have to live with your football challenged fans doing the same, as does every other major college football program. On the upside, it does provide material for you guys to enjoy a thread such as this.😂

Also, it’s no mystery why CJH got conservative against Oklahoma. I’m not going to be long winded and attempt to explain all of the many reasons, I’ll just broadly say that he chose the strategy that gave TN the best chance to win this game given the circumstances and the direction the game was going. Some of you above hit on many of the reasons. It was a smart move for the way this game was unfolding and it certainly paid off. Much better to surely win than maybe win by 30 points. Everyone that watched the game and understands football knows that it was a dominating performance over the Sooners.

Our offense is definitely a work in progress, but it's also worth noting, we've not been remotely tested this year, and Heupel has dialed break the aggressiveness as a result. We basically ran a conservative ball-control offense for most of the game against Oklahoma, even though that's the opposite of our M.O.

Arkansas will probably be the first team we face that can move the ball on offense against us. Their offense is good, 21st in the nation in offensive efficiency (in comparison, Oklahoma was 112th and NC State was 116th). Much better team than being given credit for and they'll be hungry for an upset win.

We're going to need to open up the playbook a bit in Fayetteville.
I think this is a trap game for Tennessee. Coming off a bye week, you go on the road against a team with a terrific back and a mobile quarterback. Aside from Georgia/Alabama, maybe the toughest game yet when you start to factor in everything.

After the SC game in 22, I highly doubt Coach let's the team sleep on any game

Arkansas fans are delusional. UF fans appear to finally see the writing on the wall.

I still think we beat either UGA or Bama this year.
Maybe, one game at a time. With Huep, def think he wins most all games he is supposed too. That's what makes 2022 at Cockyboose so crazy.

Get better, get better push. And bulldoze the Razorbacks. We owe the Western teams payback for 15 years of suck.

I think it’s because most of us will remember what it was like wandering in the wilderness for 15 years. I certainly will and it will keep you humble and appreciative. Bama wandered for 10 years through 4 coaches and Georgia went without a title for 30 some odd years before they finally solved the riddle. Don’t even need to mention Texas and their struggles until lately. All of those fan bases have convenient memory loss and the sidewalk alumni don’t care. They’ll jump off the bandwagon at the first sign of failure. Those droughts can happen again to anybody at any time if you pick the wrong coach.

I started watching football in 1997 or so. I remember Alabama's rough spot including losing to LA Tech in 1999 but winning the SEC, going 3-8 in 2000 after being ranked 3rd in the preseason including being shut out by Southern Miss 21-0 (Southern Miss used to be a solid program in 80s and 90s), and going 4-9 in 2002 and losing to Northern Illinois and Hawaii. They had Dark Times, especially with Dubois. Georgia was mid tier but pretty much got hammered by Tennessee from 1992 until about 2006. Older Georgia fans still hate Tennessee for it. Sadly, Florida has pretty much beat up on Tennessee my entire life...

I’ve seen a lot of player interviews through the years and the current team has a discernible difference in the maturity and focus when they speak. To me it’s clear the entire team is on the same narrative of “improve every day” and “the next game is our only focus”. Also with the depth CJH has built, if a player shows up not ready to play at 100% then the next guy will. I have zero concerns with this team having any “trap” games. The leadership is too strong. JMO, TIFWIW

A typical Florida comment should read...............Tennessee should beat us but as usual they won't because we're in their heads before the game starts.
I’d like to think this team is confident enough to not have any mental blocks against any opponents. Heupel is a players coach and it’s obvious they will put in more steam when things don’t go their way. Unlike our teams coached by Dooley, Butch, or Pruitt. Those teams wilted when it got tough.

How could anyone think our offense is worst this year after we put 30 on Austin Pray and 16 on Florida within the first 4 games last year? We also have a rookie QB that's going to continue to improve.

Say what you want but a lot of this is right. Our O got exposed by OU. Sure we were able to score. But Oklahoma did to our offense what Georgia does year in and year out. They shut down the running game and made our passing game look meh. And they are right that OU could have beat us if they had a QB that wasn't lost as last year's Easter eggs.
Der, der....bUt wE beAT OU! yEr aN IdiOt .......
Sure we won. We deserved to win because we played our butts off. But a complete team like Bama, Texas, GA are going to have as good a defense as OU and the offense to go with it. We won't put north of 20 on Georgia. Hopefully that defense of ours is as legit as they appear. Our D is the real deal. They can play with anyone in the country. That secondary is still a question mark. I clearly see that we made HUGE improvements from the last 2 years.

Really? We didn't get exposed, we had injuries at both tackle spots. The big plays were there, and I have zero doubt we could have scored 2 or 3 more times (like we did in the first half) had we kept being aggressive, but why risk it? The game was over at halftime with the way the defense was playing. The only way Oklahoma was getting back into that game was if Tennessee gave them an opportunity with a pick 6 or turnover deep in our territory. The 2nd half on offense we played the clock, not Oklahoma. Number 2 we did a good job shutting down the backup QB until we went into prevent defense, which again, was to keep everything in front of us and not allow an explosive play that could let Oklahoma back in it. You will not see Tennessee be that conservative against Alabama or Georgia. Oklahoma probably has the best Defense we will see all year and the offense still scored twice and moved the ball until Heupel shut it down. You won't see Heupel running the ball into stacked boxes over and over again unless it's a similar situation and the game is all but over.

I really feel this year if we play our best (offense and defense) we beat Alabama and Georgia by 10+. In the past I thought we had to play our best to have a sliver of hope going into the 4th quarter. This team is just different and I don't see any other teams that just out class us.
It’s hard not to be excited. It’s not just that we’re 4-0 but it’s how we look and that nasty, nasty defense. On paper, UGA and Bama both do “out class us”. That’s why games aren’t played on paper though! UK easily could’ve beaten UGA and those rosters aren’t in the same stratosphere. Plus, UGA has a brutal schedule this year. It won’t shock me if they drop a game and outside of Texas I think we have the best shot.
