Whats The SEC Record After Today?

Would it be better if OSU took those types of recruits and SEC therefore became less talented and eventually less relevant? At least Auburn is in our conference and we get the chance to play and beat them.

We're nowhere close to beating Auburn any time soon, and it's mainly because they've been consistently beating us out for these type of players.

Wow! Didn't realize so many yankees had moved down here amongst us. Our losing records makes them want to root against our SEC brethren.

Its just as important for the SEC to be strong as it is for UT to be strong. Us against them....outsiders that is. Couldn't ever be against the South versus other competition.

We'll show The Union Army!!!

I hope that drunk Ulysses Grant is rolling in his grave!

There's a lot of you waiting for the south to rise again, huh?

The SEC is currently 2-1 today with LSU and USCe winning and Georgia losing
Texas A&M beat Duke
Ms St beat the hell outta Rice
Ole Miss beat GaTech

The SEC is 5-1

Tomorrow watch for bama and Oklahoma!

I think this game tomorrow might end up being a big surprise. I know that we should pull for our conference but I would love to see Bama go down. I HATE BAMA!

I lived in Bham, AL for 4 years from 1989-1993...and I learned to hate the Bammites during those years. But at least the Bammites never looked down their nose on me and thought they were better than me as a fellow southerner...they just hated the Vols...and it was all about the SPORTS, and had nothing to do with heritage.

However, I did live in W. Lafayette, IN for a short while back in 1988 thru July of '89--and had plenty of "so-called" educated people who thought that they were intellectually superior just because they were born up North and didn't speak with a southern 'drawl.....

I'll NEVER root for one of those teams--or ANY non-SEC team against my SEC brethren...

I'd rather suffer a little sports ridicule over a FB game than have some ignorant SOB think he's intellectually and personally superior just because he was born above the Mason-Dixon line....But--:peace2:--you ain't my enemy.....just different in perspectives...and I can live with that....:salute:

I'll go with that and I have seen some of what you mention with regards to educational snobbiness. Like I said its US versus the world.

Lambert isn't a big loss cause the kid won't even qualify for anyone. The bagman threw away some dollars on this one as well.

Good for you....just don't be on here crying in a few years when our one-loss Vols--hypothetically--get shut out of the 4th and final playoff slot to a Wuss-10 team with one loss....That's where it's gonna bit your view in the azz....

And then maybe you will care.....but then again, maybe not...

The reality of the situation is that the SEC isn't going anywhere, it's always gonna be if not THE most powerful conference, one of the top 2 or 3..... too many resources, too many players in the South, too much passion, too important to everyone involved.

I do understand why so many want to pull for the SEC team in bowl games, vs other conference teams, etc...I used to do the same thing for years, I get it.

I'm just not pulling for immediate rivals/competitors of my favorite team....it just makes no sense IMO.

Even if that's true we at least get a chance to beat Auburn since we play them. How often do we get a chance to beat OSU?

No doubt, f the rest of the SEC. The rah rah SEC crap doesn't help us.

Would Butch still be pulling a top five 2013 class after going 5-7 if we were not in the highly touted SEC?
How many top 5 classes did this exact same best in America staff pull when they were at Cincy or Central Michigan?

Cincy and Central Michigan=Tennessee? UT is a lot easier sale than those 2 schools no matter what conference we are in. I'm sure a bunch of recruits will watch Bama tomorrow and say "that's it I'm going to Tennessee" The SEC being strong helps, but cheering for the enemy is pathetic. IMO

Some people are scared opponents will get better. Others hope they get better so when we kick their ass we rise to the top.
Simply a matter of whether you're a glass half full or glass half empty kind of person.

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

I don't care if they get better, has nothing to do with it. I just hate the teams we play, and don't get how people cheer for them. It's pretty simple.

UT is what it is (historically) largely because of the strong competition it has played (and dominated) over the years. Butch understands that very well and has been selling that tradition like hot cakes to recruits. Even this year - you think telling recruits "we may be down results wise but have played 6 teams in top 10 this year and are always on the big stage with the chance to win (with your upcoming help)" - if you don't understand how powerful that type of message is with recruits then you are hopeless and will never "get it".

Uh--excuse me--but there was nothing for the admin to kill if 'ol Phil would have taken care of his bizness.

This staff missed on Lambert--but just what did we lose? Lambert didn't even qualify. CBJ and crew have hit on more than they have missed--and Feb. 5th still hasn't arrived, so we will see how it all works out.

And I understand that the SEC is a LOS league--but I also know that losing a guy like Lambert will not make or break this team. You're thinking that he will is short-sighted.

The 2014 season and the 2015 recruiting class will be a GREATER indicator of where the program is headed than missing on Lambert. :hi:
You apparently can't read.

I'm not chanting "SEC SEC!" I just happen to pull for many teams in this conference BECAUSE I LIKE THEM and I enjoy their brand of football.

Exactly. Which is why losng a recruit to OSU doesn't effect us like losing one to our rivals.

Yes but once OSU gets loaded with enough SEC level talent we will be constantly watching them play in NC games instead of SEC teams (and then their rivals and conference will become stronger which is NOT what works to our favor long term).

That's what the 4 team playoff is for. They'll have to go through one or two SEC teams every year. They may make it there , but they'll have to earn it..

Personally I hope that the SEC Wins as many games as it possibly can. I am not a BAMA fan but I hope that Saban a big SEC sign to shove up Bob Stoops a** tonight! The SEC is the best conference in the nation. We have to get better to compete so the SEC getting better makes us better!
