When he was in high school, Tennessee still ran the single-wing; we were the last team in the country to jettison that offense. As a passing quarterback, Spurrier could see no role for himself in Tennessee's offense, so he attended Florida instead. We lost Steve Sloan, another homegrown quaterback prospect, for the same reason to Alabama. Dickey put an end to the bleeding by implementing a more pass-oriented T-formation offense when he became head coach in 1964.
Anyone who knows steve spurrier knows he hates georgia above all other things.
Most of the other stuff is who he is combined with the philosophy of sun tzu, which he happens to agree with.
Basically, he runs his mouth every now and then because he believes it does effect the opponent. The more he thinks it works and the more he wins, the more he runs his mouth.
So, when he took jabs at tennessee back in the 90's, it was mainly because he thought he got into tennessee's head.....not because of some long suppressed hatred he had for tennessee.
personnally, i usually think he knows his opponent pretty well and his instincts are correct. i do think he got into tennessee's head back in the day and i believe he is in clemson's head now.

Spurrier is a shi$$y person, if there was a "I win" button he could push to win a game. He would push it to win every game. He doesn't care about fairness or competion.
Watch his games, when a player gets hurt bad or somthing emotional happens( lets say a players family member dies) he will pick on that player the whole game.
Remember when Lattimore got hurt last year? What was the next play he called? A 50 yard bomb. He try's to take advantage of emotion.
Perhaps but more pressing was the fact that TN and FL were all but playing for the Championship in September and the SEC wanted and needed to make us rivals fast.
We'd met only 21 times from 1916-1991 and after expansion we were in the same division from 1992 onward. Both schools were playing outstanding football that was getting better by the day and the SEC. Before Fulmer and Spurrier there was no rivalry. Spurrier and Fulmer were more than happy to do their parts to make it not only a rivalry game but absolutely must see tv for even casual college football fans.
The rivalry on and off the field was good for both programs, the SEC, and college football and ultimately good for both universities bottom lines.
That is absolutely idiotic.Spurrier is a shi$$y person, if there was a "I win" button he could push to win a game. He would push it to win every game. He doesn't care about fairness or competion.
