Where do we go from here, and does this loss effect recruiting?? (Merged)

Our best shot is Gio. Lattimore may reconsider with two of his teammates coming here, but he doesn't like our depth chart.

When I heard the news about both Miller and Willis committing to UT this was the first question that came to mind. Although I would be happy with Gio or Dyer.

I see Riggs going to Florida. That spot has opened up some due to the issues with Victor Hampton and I think they were saving a spot for Riggs anyway. He'd be a tough pull, but I think he is giving us a legitimate shot. He had nothing but glowing praise for the Vols' staff after this weekend's visit and is delaying his announcement because he wants to give his parents a chance to meet Kiffin.

To me that is a big deal if he wants his parents to meet Kiffin. IMO he is really considering UT hard.

I think that if we don't go after another QB, then aside from a spectacular 2011 class, it tells us that the staff has faith in Stephens/Lamaison. Bray's early enrollment is a gift from above for us too.

This if from the WBIR article on Willis and Miller...

"It felt like home. I met all the coaches and we clicked. I like the living quarters and they have engineering there. They have top of the line coaches and I got along with both of them, " Willis told Rivals.com. "They are just a quarterback away."

:cray:

I want to get:

DB Riley, LB Luc, and 2 really good O-linemen (don't really care who...maybe Stone and James).

If we just got those 4 guys, I'd be very satisfied!

7 Spots Left? I say:

Garrett Grayson (yeah, it'd be good to have a second QB)
Giovanni Bernard (just cause I think Lattimore is scared of competition)
Cody Riggs (assuming we don't get Victor Hampton, which we may)
James Stone
JaJuan James (I do think we get him)
Jeff Luc (this would be the cornerstone of the recruiting class, and would further our intensity image)
Damien Robinson (I keep saying this guy, though on Rivals, I don't think it shows him even interested in us)

That's hoping nobody goes. If the class gets full, I still see us getting OL, and telling Jose Jose goodbye. He is our lowest rated player. But now, I see no reason why we can't have a number 1 class. It's very possible.

Give me O=LINEMEN, That is all!
+1. We badly need some Clysdales up front, to carry this wagon.

One more QB, like Grayson, Rettig, Cam Newton (may be the most capable to come in and start next fall), or Brunetti. I like Bray, but after seeing what a bust Crompton has turned out to be, we have to hedge our bets instead of putting all our eggs in one guys basket.

I think it also will force both QB's to work their rear bumpers off this Spring, in practice, in the the playbook, in the offseason and in fall camp. Without it, Bray may slack a bit, thinking he's a lock. I can't see Stephens being the guy...if he hasn't shown the staff that he's a better option than Crompton this season, then he's not going to get the keys to the Ferrari next fall.

We will have a number of early enrollees who will be back counted, so we have no reason to drop anyone. I think the staff has shown that they truly don't give a damn about recruiting rankings, as it applies to their evaluations. Nevertheless, a number of those low-ranked commits have seen their rankings go up since. That won't stop.
I think Bray will be a 5* by seasons end...and so will Cobbs

Cullen, Stone, James, Luc, Riggs, Riley, and Quarles. Might pull a scholly or 2 for Dyer or Robinson.

OT - James
OG - Stone
DT - Quarles
CB - 1
LB - 1
S - Riley
RB - 1

Wouldn't turn down another OL like Robinson for example if he wanted to commit.

Do early enrollees count towards the 28-people signing limit THIS year? If not, we will still take 10+ kids this year

Yes they count.

This will be the most early enrollees I've ever seen Tennessee have. I've heard as many as 8-10 of the current commits will be EE's. Amazing.

Time to stop the guessing games. We will in no way take another 3 star (if it was up to me we could drop Pair as well) but I am going ALL VOL for the rest of the season (even if crompton is the QB during the AU and UGA game).

How do you have as our final 7/8 if we get a decommit.

I think it will be :

Luc
Riley
Robinson
Arie K
Bernard
Moses
L. Joyner (Janzen was all LSU last year, we have a way with our coaching staff, and we did put him on TV and accept the violation just to get him on )

IMO...this is our new priority list and the people we sign at these priority positions:

#1: OL...we sign 3...Cullen and James for sure with the 3rd spot going to Robinson or Stone

#2: DB...we sign 2...Riley at safety and Riggs at CB

#3: LB..we sign 1...we shoot for Luc we more than likely end up with Shirley

#4: RB..we sign 1...take your pick from Dyer, Bernard...maybe even Seastrunk...I'll say Dyer

Per Rivals that's one 5* and six 4*'s...with the Luc for Shirley switch making it a possible two 5*'s and five 4*'s

Bump Miller and Ambles to 5*'s and Fulton to a 4* and our final numbers are:

5*: 3-4
4*: 17-18
3*: 7

Top 3 class per Rivals hands down...with a great shot at the #1 spot
