Where do we go from here, and does this loss effect recruiting?? (Merged)

Time to stop the guessing games. We will in no way take another 3 star (if it was up to me we could drop Pair as well) but I am going ALL VOL for the rest of the season (even if crompton is the QB during the AU and UGA game).
How do you have as our final 7/8 if we get a decommit.

I think it will be :

Luc
Riley
Robinson
Arie K
Bernard
Moses
L. Joyner (Janzen was all LSU last year, we have a way with our coaching staff, and we did put him on TV and accept the violation just to get him on )

no way that happens

Why would you drop Pair? I have enough trust in our staff to make the right evaluation. He came to camp the staff liked him and they offered. This staff doesn't take commits just to take them and just because he's a 3* doesn't mean anything. Remember Montori Hughs was a 2* and now he's one of our starting DTs.

IMO...this is our new priority list and the people we sign at these priority positions:

#1: OL...we sign 3...Cullen and James for sure with the 3rd spot going to Robinson or Stone

#2: DB...we sign 2...Riley at safety and Riggs at CB

#3: LB..we sign 1...we shoot for Luc we more than likely end up with Shirley

#4: RB..we sign 1...take your pick from Dyer, Bernard...maybe even Seastrunk...I'll say Dyer

Per Rivals that's one 5* and six 4*'s...with the Luc for Shirley switch making it a possible two 5*'s and five 4*'s

Bump Miller and Ambles to 5*'s and Fulton toa 4* and our final numbers are:

5*: 3-4
4*: 17-18
3*: 7

Top 3 class per Rivals hands down...with a great shot at the #1 spot

I agree with this list but i think we get Bernard instead of Dyer

RB: Bernard
OL: James and Stone, maybe 1 more if they can get someone like Cullen
DT: Quarles
LB: Travis Williams (Shirley will stay out west, UCLA or wherever)
CB: Best bet is Hampton is they choose to take him.
S: Riley

So two things come out from the replies so far.

1) I said we would get a list of 2 five stars and 5 4 stars and everyone said I am dreaming or too optimistic. Thunder says we get the same amouth and he had a list that is agreeable?

I can vouch for everyone of my recruits picked. I also have no problem with Moses or James.....but I think it is realistic to have a guy coming from Prep School to be our LT.

2) Anyone who thinks it is a pipe dream, just remember what you felt like around 8pm on Saturday night....(besides hungover). We had a young coach who may have made a mistake or two in the game. We had a good recruiting class, but still had some questions about where things were going to finish up. People had 3 star DBs, RBs and possibly a few others.

Sunday you sign on to Volnation and what happens. Corey Miller and Brandon Willis are signed up and ready to gear up. Apparently the O has been working magic similar to last season and we had minimal idea. This staff will not settle for mediocrity anymore and we as VOL Fans need to get on board.

My list:

Moses - easily a person who can anchor this line for the next 3 years. He wants to go to UVA (hell I wanted to go to Princeton) but I can't make dog mess look like gold. He missed the grades to get into a Div 1 school and now he thinks in 1 year of prep school he will make the grade to get into UVA, which has higher academic standards than a normal D1 school. Latrell Scott will be gone this year, as they struggle to win 1 game, and we will establish a relationship that will pull him into knoxville.
Riley- You like hott girls. Go ask for a location to your first chemistry class and when that good looking southern belle with a draw tells you where it is, your heart will melt as will your signature on a LOI. Trust me if he is interested in girls and playing time, welcome to heaven.
Robinson - easy, playing time
Arie K- looking for a family environment. Go ahead and just look at Cobbs commitment video from the news. He said he was looking for a family atmosphere. By the way, Arie in 2 years, we have plenty of room for your little brother to come aboard.
Bernard- How would you like this for an OL when you come into school. Moses,Robinson, Fulton, Jose and Arie K. Welcome to the Hill
Luc- Would be humbled to play for a Top 3 Defensive Coordinator of all time in the NFL. Would like to be evaluated and told what would make him play on Sunday. Would love to be able to blitz and tackle.....check check check
Joyner- Let's be frank. Last year we had a suprise. I mean a real suprise when Janzen came aboard. This year we have a similar suprise, but this guy owes us one. Every person (not just UT fans) googled that recruit after Outside the Lines did a special on Kiffin and he happend to be in that room. Every fan wanted even more to know what was going on, once Bob Ley said "it was a minor recruiting violation" for showing him on national TV. He was the only 5 star (other than Seantrel, who was known before he was on TV for the ESPNU game )

The thing about Moses is that we would prefer to fill the spot he would take in our recruiting class with Cullen...

What I mean is...that particular OL spot is for a guy that can come in and play immediately...and from what I'm reading our coaches fill Cullen fits that role better than anyone out there short of Sentrell Henderson...

Don't let Moses' rating fool you...he's a project...from all I've read it would take at least a year in our system and S&C program for him to be ready...

Now...if our remaining OL haul is Cullen, James and fill the remaining OL spot with Stone/Robinson/Moses then Moses could be a real possibility...but the truth is I haven't seen anything about us recruiting Moses except on here...so as of right now I don't even know how much our staff is interested in him

The staff from what I hear is not as high on Moses as you are.

Cullen they love, then J James, then Stone and/or D Robinson.

Arie K, his brother and JR Ferguson all end up at Miami. Thank God they did not go to an SEC school.

I agree with you on Riley.

I think you may well be right on Bernard. I do not think Palardy has any influence on him though. We get Dyer, or Bernard. I do not think Dyer demands Mosely also, but if so he will be at Auburn.
Luc I want so bad my stomach hurts. If we get Luc, we get Joyner.

This year we have a surprise already, he just decommited from FSU and came to UT. Quarles is a much more likely surprise than Joyner.

After swinging Willis and Miller and pulling Cobbs, I think anyone that is still interested in Tennessee is a candidate to become a Vol. These guys can recruit like crazy.

They are making a push for Keenan Allen but I still think he heads to Bama. They are making a push for prep stud Morgan Moses, the top prep prospect in the country, and I think they will be a factor for Chris Dunkley until the end although I think he ends up at Florida. Dominique Easley, James Stone, Jakhari Gore, Cody Riggs, JuJuan James, TJ Leifheit and others will all take a longer look at Tennessee after they made this recent splash.

This staff never gives up on anyone and will crop up on someone's list quickly so don't count them out on anyone. OL is the biggest need now.

Anyone think we can get back in the picture for Henderson?

I posted this is another thread, but I'm going to post it here, too.

Thank You 391.....I don't think you know that the staff is high on Moses. It is almost like them saying they are not big on Henderson. They are absolutely high on a STUD left tackle. He will be somewhat more mature on size and playing since going to prep school. He will protect the blindside for the next 3 years.

BY the way Quarles, UKO, and King .....I just don't see it. Unless they tell us they want to come aboard and we feel we can make room soon rather than on national signing day.

Henderson to me is coming from the same high school as Michael Floyd, that was the sweepstakes. If you got Floyd, and he can tell the Henderson how great the experience and academics are, he will be sold.

Jose is one of those "Ignore the stars" prospects.

Look at his offer sheet and you'll see why the coaches are not going to tell him to look elsewhere.

Listed in order of desire and (chance I think we'll get him)

1. LB, Luc and/or Fortt (35% we'll get 1)
2. OL, Stone and/or James (75% we'll get 1)
3. S, Riley (65%)
4. OL, Leifheit (30%)
5. RB, Dyer (50%)
6. CB, Riggs and/or Joyner (25% we'll get 1)
7. CB, Hampton and/or Payne (75% we'll get 1)

Bonus pick.....
QB, Scroggins (50%)

If we close with 4-5 of any of the guys listed above..... wow, just wow....

Okay guys, we have 7 scholarships left for the '10 class (barring any decommitments). Here's my dream 7:

George Uko
Cody Riggs
Dietrich Riley
Jawaun James
T.J. Leifheit
Marcus Lattimore
Jeff Luc

While the possibilities are slim, I think the universe would explode if all signed with Tennessee.

Luc is a heavy FSU lean, but with this staff's ability I wouldn't be surprised if we became a Vol.

We are not even "in it" with Lattimore, but I think Miller and Willis might be able to sway him.

Oh the possibilities...

RB Giovanni Bernard or Michael Dyer or WR Kenny Stills
OL John Cullen
OL Juwan James
OL Morgan Moses
LB Jeff Luc or Josh Shirley
DB Demetrius Wright or Coddy Riggs
DB Dietrich Riley

I just want to see more OL right now. I know JJ is expected but I would really like to see at least 1 other highly touted guy like Leifheit get in here and Cullen. Personally I would like to see at least 4 OL out of the remaining spots. Never too much depth especially on the line.

Forgot Leifheit. Swap him with any of those o linemen and I am happy. Or even Stone.

in my opinion we need :
1- qb
1- rb
1- te
2- ol
1- lb
1- cb

that would give us:
2- qb
1- rb
1- fb
2- te
5- ol
1- k
4- de
3-dt
4- lb
1- db
4- wr

total 28 that would make me very happy
