You have made it apparent that it is not possible to impress you with the hire. I am interested in your thoughts on a previous post I responded to:

This was no surprise, he addressed it in his 1st press conference. Did I miss you complaining about it then? Did you not watch or hear it or is this just another thing to "Troll" about?

he's not 10 x smarter than "each person", but as a whole...yea!

he's 1000 x smarter than you and many others. 10,000 x smarter than some, and a 1,000,000 x smarter than some. so......based on avgs .....he's atleast 10 x smarter than the whole site combined!

I think anyone who thinks Stan Drayton was in the right is way off base. I get that you want him to be honest with recruits, but there are different ways to go about that. By Drayton telling Giles to look elsewhere since he may not be retained, he is basically saying that whoever else gets brought in to replace him will be incapable of developing talent anywhere near the level of the great Stan Drayton.

Kiffin said, "You're style is different from ours, but you can give it a shot if you want."

Drayton said, "I may not be there, so it's not a good place for you to be anymore."

As said before, Drayton also didn't have any information whatsoever about who the next head coach would be, not to mention what style of offense would be run. This was irresponsible and vindictive on his part. Kiffin was recruiting by his plan of attack. Drayton didn't even know who was going to be making the plan.

WTF had Fulmer EVER done before he came to UT? Spurrior before UF? Richt at UGA? Stoops at OU?

right now,as i type he is on his own recruiting (besides the top rc guru from sc-his bro n law).i see top recruits decommitting as well as top recruits being told they do not fit his system.

this is bad in two parts:

a.you may be a top athlete but you also may not get a chance to prove yourself because i dont know how to use your talent but one way. Recruiting athletes to fit a system is something that we've sorely needed at UT. Lane Kiffin will give guys who legitimately have a shot at the NFL a chance. He obviously thinks that Boyd and Petty have no shot at being an NFL QB. That's not a bad thing.
b.other recruits have now had two weeks to hear thru the grapevine that the new coach is not pulling recruits as quickly as some thought he would.(buying in) :no:
I'm not understanding this point but recruits are excited to hear about the new blood at UT and the staff LK is brining in. Have you seen the comments that recruits are making about the staff? LK is building a recruiting foundation like he did at USC. That foundation should not be built on lies to get talent he doesn't want. Ed Orgeron is know to be a tremendous recruiter and has the utmost respect for LK's recruiting abilities. That's good enough for me.

maybe we will get a splash staff to save the day :)

ACC championship.....in football........at Duke.

richt and stoops also won NC's as coord's.

I said we didn't hire Woody, but if we did that people would be justified in assuming the worst.

Spurrier won a conf. title at freaking Duke. Richt had been the best OC in the country at FSU. Stoops had been the DC at NC winning UF, where he clearly had free reign. Phil is the one that doesn't fit the picture. He was a good recruiter and uber conservative coach. Nothing more and wouldn't have been hired without some extraordinary circumstances.

I have no idea what your third line is about.

I have a conf. championship ring, a gigantic class ring and wedding band. I wouldn't trade any of them for Woody's SB ring. Ditto freaking Chuck Weis' SB rings. As you might have noticed, those SB rings helped neither man at the helm of a college program.

Most people don't believe he was the man behind USC's success.

I think he was brought in to hopefully bring what he learned working with Pete Carroll, Norm Chow and his father to UT. He's worked with some top coaches and everyone is hoping it rubbed off on him. Otherwise UT is in trouble.

I'm having a hard time finding all this pro-Kiffin drivel. Maybe it's such a shock that most of the board is positive about the future. People are praising his recruiting ability but that is a known fact(unless you're PosiVol or 5150.) Most of the rest of the pro-Kiffin stuff is in regards to Monte/staff and I think that even Posi and 5150 would have a hard time finding reason to complain about Monte.

I, too have a College Conf Champ ring, class ring and a wedding ring! WE must be equal!!!!

My point was that they had never done anything as a HEAD COACH until they got a college job. Kiffin needs a chance...to fail or succeed, before anyone belittles him.

He could have still sold UT without lying. He could have sold recruits on the fact that we are UT, we will bring in a great staff, and if I'm such a great recruiter/coach then they will keep me.. He chose to tell Giles that UT might not be the best situation and encouraged him to explore other options. At that point, how would Drayton have know what would be the best for Giles without knowing who we're brining in? He was looking to use a highly touted recruit as leverage for a job and that's not particularly honest.

But Duke was so bad on a relative basis that it didn't matter how sorry the conference. It was still littered with schools that viewed beating Duke the way we view beating UTC.
