Which USC players can we get?

Will someone start this as a new thread? I don't have enough posts yet.

Rivals

Their 2nd string center, a prior 4* DE - Would be an IMMEDIATE starter and allow and make our gaurd depth +1. He would not hinder the development of any of our young players IMO.

We should launch a fan-based campaign for him ... CHH has put EVERY SINGLE LINEMAN HE COACHED IN THE NFL!!

I say we go after Ambles and get him in on a visit and then lead him to believe via ustream that we are going to offer him, and then through various morning news shows put on a d Rodgers hat... Before you fun Nazis go off, I know it is only juniors and seniors... But would be funny!

I would be very surprised if we were able to get anyone from their team. When Alabama was hit with probation awhile back, they gave the same option to their upperclassmen, don't recall a bunch of them leaving...it is unlikely that they lose many and of those that leave I doubt any come here.

Wishful thinking.

No. It is 20 for the football program. The 30 scholarship restriction is for all athletics including the 20 for football.

People saying none of these guys will transfer are positively nuts. Why the hell would these guys stay at USC at this point if they want any chance at playing time? Kiffin and crew have even more incentive to favor playing younger players at every position now. I don't know that UT is a huge beneficiary but I can't think of another major program with the scholarship space that we have and the relative lack of talent at several positions.

30 football scholl.

Reminds me of Kelly Washington who CPF would not reign in and ended up destroying team chemistry for a few seasons. Tennessee has put a lot of people in the pros and his BS [me/me attitude] was not wanted or appreciated by many of his teamates. Happens in the pros too.

you might be the only person on the planet that blames Washington's attitude on Fulmer.... some of you anti-Fulmer folks are f'n ridiculous

I don't blame CPF for his attitude...just for not recognizing its' adverse effects, not correcting it through disciplinary action, and ultimately allowing it to eat into the team chemistry. Hey, I get that there's a new breed out there. Look at Rodman and the Bulls...they were able to deal with it...and that was through senior leadership, coaching, and acceptance. But some teams find it disruptive...e.g. TO/Eagles; Keyshawn Johnson/ Buccaneers; Brandon Warren/UT; etc. etc. ad nauseum.

I will say that, late in his career, Keyshawn was a stabilizing influence and provided senior leadership in his last stint with the Panthers.

"not recognizing its adverse effects." Look at Washington's senior year stats, including the "injury".... I think Fulmer knew very well the adverse effects Washington had on the team.

You could say the same thing about TO and Keyshawn but there is a reason teams shipped them off...that's because someone in the organization recognizes at some point that team chemistry and focus is being affected through constant distractions and ship them off at whatever threshold they determine is no longer acceptable.

BTW, I'm sure Farmer fits in with the Trogs culture. Each team has it own chemistry and that chemistry is a moving target and has its' own dynamic.

Look at what CDD is trying to do. In the mold of the bell curve, he is trying to find a majority of players that fit in with Vol culture and traditions...and yet he is obviously willing to take quality players at the edge as evidenced by his/LT's late recruitment of Markeith Ambles the weekend before NSD last year. There will always be characters on a football team and that's what makes it interesting and fun. At the same time he has implemented programs and structure aimed at keeping players within the boundaries of acceptable team behaviour and on the field and in the classroom.

That's all I've got to say and sorry to other posters if this thread has been hijacked.
