Who Has Their Carry A Concealed Weapon Permit?

I have mine and carry a Sig P228 in 9mm.

The Mrs. carries a .38 snub and has deadly aim. I feel safer when she's around, hahaha...

On an aside from the thread title, I learned from the training that here in TN it does not have to be concealed, although I prefer the concealed approach.

I have seen a couple of old farmers with revolvers sticking out of their overalls bib pocket.

I just don't like to advertise to a perp that I should be his/her first target...

Yes in TN it does not have to be concealed.

Of course it would be ignorant to have it exposed.

That H&K is an awesome weapon system. Its a little heavy, but I like that. Helps manage the muzzle flip. I consistently shot 100% with that weapon. I love the double action /single action of the H&K compared to the DAO of the Glock.

Yeah it is heavy.
I go back and forth between it and a Sig 40, I think it's a P229, as my favorite.

I've wondered how often that happens if you're carrying one in your pocket during the summer .... is it just a matter of being careless and leaving the safety off?

Don't just stuff a gun in your pocket. Use a holster made for pocket carry. Personally I like the Desantis Nemesis. It sheaths the weapon which greatly reduces the chance of accidentally tripping the trigger fumbling around in your pocket.

Honestly lots of people have a nasty habit of "gripping" a pistol with their finger in the trigger guard anyway. I've threatened bodily harm at my nephews if I see their fingers inside the trigger guard even if I know the weapon's unloaded.

Nearly all newer model handguns now have automatic safeties on the back of the handle and the trigger. Both have to be pressed down in order to fire a round. You can find videos on youtube of people throwing loaded glocks and springfields around and bouncing them on concrete to see if they will fire, and they never do. I always keep the chamber of my gun clear when I am carrying, however. People shooting themselves in the leg while carrying is probably a case of them improperly unholstering their gun.

He didn't have it in his pocket.
Took it out of the glove box to show some people, didn't clear it, bam.

Stupid.

I know a man who lost his hand cleaning his Glock 22. Thought it was clear and went to dry fire it.

His wife fainted when she heard the shot and came in the room.

Happens a lot.
I knew he wasn't too bright when I met him to buy it.
He took it out of the holster, ejected the mag and started waving it around like it was a toy.

I grabbed it, and guess what?
Yep, round in the chamber.

Think he would have learned.

By the way, he's now a tank commander in the NG.

Tank commander? Wow, considering his thorough mastery of safe gun handling, that should work out really well...

I always drop out the mag, pull the slide back and lock it in the open position before handing my gun to someone. That way, they can look right down into it and know that it is unloaded.

I do carry my P228 with a round in the chamber and it doesn't have a safety (the safety is your trigger finger), but the holster covers the entire trigger and guard, and I always practice drawing without putting my finger into the trigger guard. My finger doesn't go into the trigger guard until I am ready to fire. If I ever have to defend myself with it (and I pray the Lord I never do), I don't want to have to rack a round into the chamber first.
