I thought you started this to honor your tanning bed lord. Now I see you've switched to arguing points of morality.

You must have a really sad life day in and day out.

So if you were below the legal limit why did you even bring your worthless anecdote into the conversation?

Mostly because you are a fanatic and I figured it would make you hyperventilate. But also to make the point that this "legal limit" is a totally arbitrary standard, yet you're ascribing immense importance to it. I can have three beers, feel completely sober, and be absolutely confident that I would blow under .08. My 130 pound female friend can have three beers, feel equally sober, and yet she goes to jail for moving her car. Mine's a "worthless anecdote" because I was under the legal limit; she's an "idiot" and a "drunk" because she wasn't. Even though our perceived level of sobriety was the same. You don't see a problem with that -- either the legalities of it or the broad condemnation you're making about it?

Yes, it's hard to keep a thread on track with the likes of lofton, lawvol, etc

It's a fight I'm willing to fight.

Actually it was your fellow Slurper IA who went down this path. You were fine with it until people who disagreed with you got involved.

Don't let facts get in the way, though.

yours is worthless because you were doing nothing wrong, therefor it has no place in the conversation. You friend on the other hand is an idiot for knowingly driving her car above the legal limit. 3 beers or 300 beers, 150 yards or 150 miles, it doesn't really matter.

These people are not drunk in any meaningful sense of the word, and yet by your definition they're suddenly the taint of society.

Lost in this discussion has been a respectful appreciation of the clever integration of this word. Until now.

How far will you guys go to defend bob huggins? haha

I wonder what you would say if it came out that he was a kiddie diddler? That's A.O.K too?

And it is equally amazing how far you will go to paint someone who gets a DUI as a lifetime drunkard.

nice point, but integration is a bit strong. I like seamless introduction better.

I've never said that. Welcome to the conversation though. Feel free to go back and read it all before posting again.

Already read it all. Everything you said implies that somebody with a DUI is a lifetime drunkard. And don't forget that one post where you said something about someone is the "taint of society" if they get a DUI. Absolute gem right there.

Yet we both did the same thing. What does it feel like to abdicate your whole sense of morality to an arbitrary standard established by some legislature?

I don't know what me calling your friend an idiot for knowingly breaking a well-publicized law, risking her freedom and reputation has to do with morality. But keep fighting the good fight big man.

I am no longer surprised by any of the useless drivel that you post. This is just another in a long line of examples.

The argument is simply that morality and law are absolutely independent of one another.

Just because I think his friend is a moron for getting a DUI doesn't mean I think shes done something immoral. You guys are adding all of those implications, not me.

Reread your posts, then get back to us on how come these "implications" keep coming up.

I know what I've posted and my position hasn't changed. Feel free to quote something I've said that you're taking issue with, and I'll be glad to address it.
