Who is the better Manning?

I wonder how everyone's perceptions of both Brady and Eli would be different if one of the Patriots made a diving catch on the Hail Mary yesterday. Would Brady be a better quarterback? Would Eli be worse?

I still think Brady is the best QB in football, last night didnt change that. Eli brought his team back in position to win again, and he has been doing that a lot in the last 7 years. Head to head I think Peyton is the better overall QB, but when the game is on the line late and I have to have a GW drive, the numbers are in Eli's favor and it isnt even close.

So this is Eli's first come from behind last minute game-winning drive?

No, not at all. But if welker makes a catch or Bradshaw's fumble is an unlucky bounce... this isn't even a thread/conversation. Or if that ball randomly falls into Gronk's hands at the end... it isn't even a conversation. There are a trillion factors, yet everyone tries to take one game and end every argument.

They're both great... took eli a little longer but he has come into his own this season

I agree with you, but Eli has shown that he has a knack for putting his team in a position to win when the game is on the line.

Eli has more hardware you play to win rings so im going with Eli he seems to be more clutch than Peyton who has choked alot in big games.

I hear ya. the main part of this argument... or the manning/brady argument... is that saying you favor one doesn't mean the other one sucks. Too many people act like only ONE can be good.

To be fair with the "what ifs" from last night, if the officiating had been half way decent (speaking of the two pats interference no calls deep in their zone) I dont think this game would have been anywhere as close as it was. Am I the only one that though those two calls were absolutely terrible?

Peyton is better cerebrally, but Eli is better in the clutch in big games. His playoff stats and record proves it.

I can agree with this. I'm simply pointing out how silly it is to just count up super bowl rings and just assume certain quarterbacks are better than others.

Using Super Bowl rings to say Montana is better than Marino is understandable. Using it to say Eli is better than Peyton is certainly a reach.

Rings alone doesn't determine how great a QB is. And if you say Peyton has chocked what would you call what Brady has done his last 2 SB appearances? The last one some said was the best team ever. How many SBs has Brady won since he has not had those great Ds?

I wouldnt say that Brady choked in his last two SB appearances.

Choked may be a strong word, but the Patriots only put up 14 points in their first loss. That's not really putting your team in good position to win, even if he did lead a late drive to take the lead.

For the record, I do think Tom Brady is a great quarterback, and maybe the best in the league.

Agreed, but his receivers really screwed him.....which I was happy to see because I hate Brady and the Pats, but brady wasnt the reason they lost last night.

So when they win it's because of Brady, but when they lose it's not his fault? What about the safety or the Int? If any other QB had lost 2 straight loses in the SB he would be called a choker but since it's Brady he gets a pass.

Again Brady has 0 SB wins without those dominant Ds and without Adam V.

I have learned to not argue this with you......you have proven to be an irrational homer when it comes to this subject, so lets just say we agree to disagree.

Peyton has never had the type of supporting cast that Eli has. That's the difference. Peyton is the better QB, and I don't think it's close.

This, and anybody who see's it differently, must not know football all that well..

Peyton...multiple league MVP's.....2 Super Bowl appearances with a victory....carried a team with no defensive help for mostly his entire career.

Eli and the Giants got hot in time for the playoffs...that is what it is.

If the TRUTH hurts say ouch!

Give Peyton the Giants defense and we would be talking best qb ever.

Only 7 teams allowed more points than the Giants D during the regular season though. They allowed 400 points on the season and 25 points a game. That's horrible.

This years playoff run was easily more about Eli. In the the playoffs(including the Cowboys game) he averaged 313yds(61.2%) 313yds 2.4tds .2ints per game.

I'm not sure I agree with you that Peyton would have won a Super Bowl with this defense. I doubt Eli could even put together another Super Bowl run with this years defense. What he did was pretty amazing and unlikely to be duplicated. The team was 9-7 for a reason. That reason was allowing 25 points a game. That's not a good defense.

Eli carried the team in the regular season, no doubt. But the Giants' D held the Packers (35 ppg) to 20, the Patriots (32 ppg) to 17, the 49ers (24 ppg) to 17, and the Falcons (25 ppg) to 2 points.

In 4 playoff games the Giants' D held their opponents to an average of 15 points below their average score total. THAT'S INSANE! Peyton has always carried bad D's to the playoffs. If they could've somehow managed playoff runs like that, Peyton would have more titles.

Good points. I think the difference is that the Pats had no significant run game and the heart of the Giants' D was the pass rush. Giants may not have won against a more well-rounded team.
