Who is the worst/most over rated football coach to win a national championship?

Not saying Tressel is bad. He has been impressive. But people forget he inherited a strong program beforehand with (i think) Cooper. They fired him because he couldn't beat Michigan and Carr (and viceversa for Carr).

Question: If McCoy doesn't get hurt and Texas wins the National Title against Bama, does your opinion change? Just curious. And like I said, I have been impressed the last few years with Brown. Before Vince Young's great performance, I would have put him overrated.
Not really, to be honest. My assessment of him has been more based on Stoops domination of the Big 12.

Sorry, but Fulmer had superior talent to Spurrier's Florida teams throughout the majority of the 90's, and Spurrier beat the crap out of Fulmer on a regular basis.

there was not enough talent separation between those two porgrams at the time for there to be enough difference so i disagree on your superior talent statement.

Beating the crap out is based on opinions.. majority of games from 92-01 were competitive games in my opinion...

Florida had a really good team that year, and Nebraska put the worst beatdown on them that I've ever seen in major college bowl game. They absolutely abused Florida on both offense and defense. While Miami's 2001 team was great, they never faced any team that entire season that was as physically dominant as the 1995 Nebraska squad.
I'm pretty sure you could make the same claim about the 1995 Nebraska team.

I really wished we could have seen a better NC game in '01. I don't think UT or UF would have had a chance to win that game, but both would have put up a better fight than Nebraska.

Too bad Foolmore was such a great coach that he didn't see any need of placing any emphasis on the SECCG to make that happen.

Ridiculous statement. Please list the 1995 games you remember seeing.
I'm just talking about a talent perspective. Who could they Nebraska played that had comparable talent to Miami on the defensive side of the ball?

The talent argument is overplayed IMO. Best team. Alabama wasn't remotely close to the most talented team last year, but they were the best.

it doesn't matter if you actually saw them play. List players all day but to say that 95 team wasn't even close is ridiculous IMO.

I would bet the 97 Vols had more NFL players on that roster and ask the guys who played in that game how Neb's OL treated them

Let's put it this way: The 2001 Hurricanes were a truly great team, but they would not have thoroughly humiliated the 1995 Florida team the way that Nebraska did.

That Florida team was great, and their defense was great. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

That's not what I meant. I was responding to the post about how no one could defend the option, and I said that none of the teams Nebraska played would have had the talent that Miami did defensively. My original response wasn't clear enough.

Not even the most talented in the conference. Florida with LSU right on their toes.
But other than that, there's not much more around the country. Maybe a couple teams, but not many. Alabama had plenty of talent, just not at receiver and quarterback, IMO. They had great lines and a running game, and a very talented defense.

They wouldn't have scored 62, but I'd also be stunned to see them give up 24.
