3-5 years? Not a good option in the SEC. If he's not winning big time in 3, he sure won't get 5.

Yes he will. He signed a 6 year contract and UT cannot afford to buy another coaches contract out. It won't matter though because there will be major improvement by year 3.

No, he won't unless there are some major improvements that equate to major wins. He will be gone if he doesn't produce in 3. In the era of instant gratification, 3 years is a long time.

Welcome to BigOrangeTrain's ignore list.

My pleasure. I've never put anyone on ignore. I feel it's a weakness, to me. I like to read other's opinions. Just me, though.

Wrong Pigturd. Slydell is a quality poster. Just because I disagree with someone doesn't mean they go on ignore.

This post was not meant for you Slydell sorry.

Well. That wasn't nice.

My apologies for my hasty assumption. Can I offer a slab of bacon as token of goodwill? Everybody loves bacon. Except vegans, & I don't trust vegans anyway.

I wander how many Bama fans wanted Saban gone after his first year when he went 6-6?

Saban won NC at LSU before that so it was easier for their fans to wait when it was likely he knew what he was doing. Coming from Cincy and Central Michigan does not give Butch that type of credibility in SEC, and bringing bearcat staff with him only further raises doubts - combine that with multiple blowouts and losing season and you get nervous fan base - and you can't blame fans for that.

It's also economics. Everybody thinks you can't afford to fire a coach. Sometimes you can't afford to keep a coach due to lost revenue. People give up their season tickets, quit donating, quit buying merchandise.

Somebody (star) what I'm finna' post because I want to be able to say I told you so before everyone else does. Butch will bebgone by the end of his fourth year. To those who understand building a football program he just doesn't have enough of "it" to get it done!

Hart - dissed Pat, dissed Gruden; in August I thought he was the blind squirrel who picked up Butch Jones; now, I'm worried he's the guy who hired Jones and the best staff in America; he kept Dooley after KY; he would have kept Dooley if Franklin hadn't kicked the ****e out of us; there is a general AD malaise at UT that he has failed to clear. His only saving grace is that he is in the shadow of Mike Hambone Hamilton.

Cheek - after several years, he has failed to progress one iota his flagship program at UT; he has imparted and progressed no vision for the university; he is no friend of the one true global UT brand. He eats boogers.

don't forget, that he was the one that ran Wilcox and company off too,by not offering a contract extension for over a year, and then Sal was hired with a good contract

4-5 years at least. I'm sick of playing musical coaches... We should be in this for the long haul.

your right he needs that much time, will he get it ? who knows, the incoming freshmen will need a couple of years to develop into SEC players and next years class will need that much time also,to provide depth and take over spots and then the next class, which means 4 years to me

should there be marked improvement along the way ? hell yes, will there be assistant coaching changes along the way ?i would think so,but i don't see no coaching changes coming next year, unless somebody decides to go on there own

it is going to be on CBJ to decide on that and we will see how they do,i wish him and the staff the best, but it is a big jump for a lot of them to the SEC and some were let go from there before

as long as they keep the recruiting classes in the top 5,good things will happen,i know it sucks, but it is going to take time

Actually the whole staff needs to be fired. Butch Jones is a COWARD for the way he called today's game. Complete embarrassment to play scared like this against Vanderbilt.
TOTAL JOKE OF A COACHING STAFF.

Hope you were drunk when you wrote this one. I'll admit I was pretty PO after watching that game too. I was wishing it wasn't 10 am on Sunday morning here so I could drink. Thought we looked like a FCS school.

I get what you are saying, but let's say he wins 8 and loses the bowl game in year three. Does that qualify as winning big or do we tear it apart and start this process all over again?

with 8 wins,it will seem like progress and it will be progress,i would have to go with who was beat and what did they look like when they lost and did they play there asses off on every play

I agree...however IMO he doesn't have to win a SEC championship or even compete in one by year 3. I think if he can get us to 9 wins by year 3 he's still golden.

I say 7 wins next year (including bowl) and 9 wins in year 3 (including bowl). Now year 4 he better be competing for a SEC Championship and with this amazing recruiting class most of them will be RS Sophomores or Juniors he should be. 10 wins year 4 (including bowl). We'll officially be back.

Year 5 playing in SEC Championship. 11 win season (including bowl)
