My own theory is that they're coming from a place of anger and bitterness. And it just falls flat. Humor can't mask the underlying anger and hatred. The punching down theory also seems to have some plausibility. Gutfeld is a perfect example of how bad conservatives suck at humor.
I think Tim Allen's shows were funny about his conservatism but that was in large part because he poked fun at everything and didn't use the humor to preach.
Guttfield and those like him are rather obviously disguising their bitterness as humor and the sarcasm effort is just too thinly veiled, especially looking into the camera so smugly.
And yet Gutfeld is the number one rated late night show and blowing the rest off the map. Seems a lot of people are in on the joke (which is no, it isnt conservatives who are uber pious zealots of their demanding social religion).
Frankly, Gutfelds show is not my cup of tea though. I would prefer if Adam Corolla would have a show again. He never will, since he is secure in his podcast but the Man Show days were really funny.
My dream team of comedians just sitting around completely adlibbing the whole show would be Adam Corolla, Dave Chappelle, Drew Carey, Ricky Gervais, Nick Offerman and John Leguizamo. Throw in Bill Maher and Jeff Foxworthy as offsets. Give them real creative license and there would be no other show that would even compete. Primetime, nothing would compete.

Not posting it here. Too many potential "he was a quiet man" types on here.
Yet you elected Brandon. Now that's damn funny.1: Because they think they are holier than thou.
2: Their fighting style is to bring you down to their level.
3: They are constantly being used and lied to by their leaders from Frumpy to murdoch, all the way down to thier local leaders like mayors and priests. EVERYONE is ALWAYS playing them.
Like, they SAY they are conservative, but then get convinced they want a strong dictator in power ruling over everyone's life by faux news.
It's a poisonous cocktail, and they have lost their faith.
There's nothing funny about gonorrhea. I mean, other than the name itself. That's kind of funny. There's a difference between a clap and a laugh.

Now that's some good humor right there.1: Because they think they are holier than thou.
2: Their fighting style is to bring you down to their level.

Oh but they used to be so funny. Remember Jay Leno Headlines? Those used to leave me in stitches. Biggest mistake NBC ever made was letting Leno go.Liberal or conservative, if you think any of the late night shows are particularly funny, you're probably looking for something that tells you what you want to hear.
Oh look, the same dead horse being beaten for the 6th year straight.
A huge part of topical humor when satirizing culture is timing. BB can be funny sometimes, but this ain't one of them. Would have been funny half a decade ago.

Pete Buttigieg Promises To Investigate Ohio Railway Chemical Spill For Signs Of Racism
U.S.·Feb 13, 2023 · BabylonBee.com
EAST PALESTINE, OH — Residents of a small Ohio town have been forced to evacuate after a deadly spill of vinyl chloride and butyl acrylate chemicals from a train derailment caught fire and destroyed surrounding farmland, waterways, and livestock. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was quick to respond, promising to investigate the tragedy for signs of racism.
"First of all, I want to reassure the citizens of East Palestine that I am still very gay," said the Transportation Secretary. "Also, I will do everything in my power to uncover the possible racist source of this deadly environmental disaster. Yes, East Palestine is a small Ohio Town full of white people, but we need to know how this may affect BIPOCS. I will leave no stone unturned."
Buttigieg has also not ruled out the possibility of foreign governments behind the incident. "Considering this happened in East Palestine, we shouldn't rule out a possible war crime perpetrated by the state of Israel," he said.
At publishing time, sources had confirmed Bill Gates had purchased all the land around East Palestine for a great price.
Well, conservatives generally aren't that funny because they're hard-working and serious and dignified, so there's not that much to make fun of, unlike their counterparts.
Oh...you meant humorous, and specifically were referring to professional comedians? Well, setting aside the subjectivity of humor, it seems that more "comedians" who work comedy clubs tend to do what was once referred to as "blue" material, which appeals more to the narcissistic, substance-addled, promiscuous, neurotic crowd. Same reason that more of those types get tv and movie work. Birds of a feather and all that.
I dunno about that.
I still find Biden's stratospherically-racist endorsement of Obama to be hilarious, and that was back in 2007.
And for the encore, Obama picks Biden as his running mate. It doesn't get much funnier than that.
Still kept on giving in 2020.

But why do they call it "the clap"? Probably a question best answered by @McDad .
