Why Barnes!?!?!

Yeah EJ hasn't had the year any of us were hoping for, but he played one of his better games tonight and was one of the 2 or 3 best players on the team (both low bars, I admit). It's weird the criticism is most fierce tonight
I’m done with our big men patchwork strategy. Anosike is just the 3rd charm in Barnes Pandora bracelet of failure. I love our team...I want some REAL players inside!!! HE IS NOT A D1 SEC caliber player. NOR is Plavy. NOR is nkum.

Not saying we can't upgrade there, just saying he was far from our worst player on the court tonight

You do realize Anosike only missed one shot, right? And only had 1 turnover, right? And had 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal, right? In only 15 minutes. That's not terrible. Is it world beating? Absolutely not, but it's not as bad as you're making it out to be.
Yes he is. Go watch his 15 minutes again. And couple that with his other minutes this year. He is ANOTHER wasted post player quick fix scholarship.

No doubt it was just a bad night. It happens. That said, no way this UT team is a top 10 team. No way they’re even close to the Williams, Bone, Schofield team. They all look like they’re scared to death they’re gonna make a mistake on offense.
That is coaching. That is one reason I always liked Pearl. Teams always played relaxed. You can't play basketball tight.

I mean the "Williams, Bone, Schofield team" was also coached by Barnes
i quoted someone who said they looked tight. That is coaching. I did not say Barnes was not a good coach. Besides Barnes record against Pearl is not good. Pearl's teams always play loose.

Again, for literally the 6th time....THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!

It’s weird for you to go this far overboard criticizing him right after one of his best games of the year. It makes people think you don’t know what you’re talking about and are just venting about the loss and blaming a player you were already unhappy with.

Barnes was as sick about this performance as most of us. Said there will be changes to the line up. Fulky (imagine that) took a large part of the distain. And guard play was atrocius. Anisoke was hardly mentioned.

It's almost like the OP has found his scapegoat. Weird that this is the hill he's choosing to die on.

It's just fascinating that you've chosen this game as the one to all of the sudden complain about his other performances. Why is that? Based on all the stats of that game, and especially compared to Bailey's, he had a solid game for what he is. So why now? Need a scapegoat? Took your sister out on a date and didn't call her? What? It makes zero sense to single him out after the performance of everyone else.

I’m not going overboard. Our lack of inside post play is one of the main reasons we lost this game. I have already singled out the other two patchwork big man failures so this is the third time I’m complaining about it. The irony is that if I complained about him after his worst game people would say I just waited until his worst performance. Even at his best, he’s not a division one SEC caliber scholarship player. You DO see that, right!?

See above reply... And again, this has nothing to do with Bailey. Bailey is clearly a division one SEC caliber scholarship type of player. Anosike...no.

Anosike is microcosm for an ongoing issue of patchwork big man. If you can’t see it, you don’t need to take part in the conversation. I’m not saying he is our only problem, and I’m not comparing his game tonight to anyone else’s game tonight. I’m simply saying is that he is not the kind of player that we need to bring in here as a graduate transfer type player.

Of course he’s not gonna blast Anosikei! It was his choice to bring him in and waste a scholarship on him. This is the third time he has attempted that strategy and failed every time. His failure at the post play is just not acceptable. What kind of a coach would come out and say that he has failed to recruit a solid SEC division one post player? He’s not gonna do that because it makes him look bad.

Anosike is a role player. If you think that's what cost us this game or the Bama game not sure what you've been watching. It's our starters and 5 stars that are leaving it in the locker room.

Actually, played like they had tired legs. 12 of 25 or some such at the line is usually legs; tired looking rotations on defense. Shot 29% for goodness sakes, that can't be on Anosike (an aside to the OP); and while we aren't a great shooting team, we're certainly better than that. Springer is very important to the offense.

Barnes has no problem calling out the guards he "chose to bring in", so don't act like Barnes wouldn't call Anosike out last night if he was a problem.

He brought in all these kids. Every one of them came in on his watch, now.. If you think Barnes is afraid to call out any of his players, then you haven't been paying attention. He pulls no punches regardless of who you are. He bagged on Grant Williams on several occasions. Your accusation that he is coddling EJA is baseless and ignorant because you don't want to admit that your witchhunt is unjustified.

There have been signs that we weren't as good as our ranking all season, we just got caught up in the announcers glowing statements regarding our team. What hurt the most is we saw it while playing the Gators but make no mistake, signs were there for all to see.

I actually thought Anosike looked decent tonight. He was crashing the boards and playing really hard in a game where it looked like effort was lacking. Besides his botched layup and untimely turnover, I thought he was one of the best off the bench. Also Another thing, which is very Elementary, you NEVER leave a big man by himself in the back court if you’re a guard. I saw Anosike take it up the floor at least twice and Fulky do it a couple times. My MS basketball coach would run us until we puked if we ever did that in a game.
