Why Is Everyone Turning On Heupel?

No one is turning on Heupel that has at least 2 brain cells that are still colliding allowing for some type of thought. Now, if they come out Saturday and lay a complete egg against Vandy then I'll at least have a bit of concerns going forward. Elite coaches figure out a way to turn things around and bounce back. And any successful UT tenured coach can't lose to Candy. Shouldn't lose to USCjr but just can't lose to Candy.

This game on Saturday will help paint a picture. And then what Heupel does in the offseason to correct the defensive ineptitude will say a lot about his ceiling here. He is a good dude, an offensive mastermind, and seems to be very level-headed but knows when to step on throats when he needs to. Unfortunately it's time to step on the throats of Banks and Martinez. Do what needs to be done. Move on after one of the most costly losses in program history from terms of what they potentially lost out on. But the earth keeps spinning and life goes on.

Just bounce back and smack Vanderbilt around like UT is supposed to do. Then make the necessary changes in the offseason to continue on an upward trajectory. I fully expect next season to be more like an 8-4 or 9-3 team. We sure don't need to be 9-3 going into the bowl season this year after the start they had. Anyone that starts making excuses on why we should lose to Vanderbilt - those are the people that blow my mind.

Right now people can be very mad about what happened against USCjr and they should be upset. But it's not time to throw Heupel under the bus and honestly I haven't seen many people that are doing that.

Some believe because they go to games and pay XYZ to sit in the stadium they are supposed/entitled to be given a detail of what went on.
Im one of those that paid to sit in the stadium.... However IDGa flat flying fluck what went on in the SC game. When a man is bad at his job with evidence of such.... they should be replaced asap. Looking directly at Banks..... Martinez is the next in line. Love Heupel, like the progress in the front 4 of the D. However scheme is terrible and Banks is behind that completely. It screams incompetence

My response was more to those that believe because they buy a ticket the need answers on why Banks was not dressed at SC. Coaching issues take care of themselves at the end of the year, especially one that is 9-2, not 2-9.

I cannot believe the comments I’m reading in some of the threads. This season has been a success and not one logical person thought we’d beat Bama and be ranked in the Top 10 at this point in the season. Remember the god awful mess Heupel inherited with all the drama surrounded with the NCAA and numerous players transferring? I don’t know about you but I don’t miss having a boring offense who struggled to score against Vandy and Georgia St. Whoever is complaining about Heupel at this point should just stop watching sports all together.

This was NOT going to be an easy rebuild.
More zero sum mentality. This is a myth, a boogie man. This is a windmill you’ve made this up in your mind.

It’s either Sheepishly and blindly support the team, or fire everybody?? Nope, that’s not the case. You can be very happy and supportive for the improvement in this team and still be critical. Those two positions aren’t mutually exclusive.

I’d argue if your thinking sensibly you should be upset about things like SC but also incredibly happy with a lot of things.

That’s not what your post conveys. I’ve not seen anyone say fire Heupel. I’ve offered plenty of criticism, but I’d rather have Heupel, who is still learning the league and finding his way, than anyone else.

Which one? Pretty sure I have said the opposite of fire Heupel also we should be disappointed with SC like at least 10 times.

Edit to add: Probably too may times really, haha

I am gonna keep rage posting until Martinez is fired. The Football Gods demand blood for the abomination that happened Saturday.

Some on here think they no everything and they wait to pounce on anything to make them feel big. It’s sad! GBO 9-2!

Because, as one Douglas Adair Dickey remarked to yours truly, "The two most popular men on campus are the backup quarterback and the next head coach."

If Vol fans held themselves to the same standards they hold coaches, Tennessee would boast more millionaires and billionaires than the rest of the country combined.
Our fans have worshipped a slew of idiot hires. This is an insane take.

One positive going into the Vandy game is it's a home game. Should make a huge difference. Looking forward to a smackdown.

CBJ certainly took too long. I thought CDD was a good dude, and I was on board with giving him that third season, which now I think was a season too much. I appreciate our options were limited when he took over and suspect he is valuable to an organization in many positive ways, as an analyst or maybe offensive position guy, but putting all of the pieces together as HC in the SEC at that time, he could not.

No one is turning on Heupel. He’s the guy for the job. We need to upgrade our defensive staff. We need to upgrade our talent. But Heupel has far surpassed what we’ve seen in year 1 and year 2 from Dooley, Kiffin, Butch and Pruitt.

In most categories he has surpassed their entire body of work or close to it. I made a big long post earlier with a lot of stats. This is not the same old rebuild. Sure he could still mess it up, but right now he is doing most things very well.

I don't think anyone is turning on him, but I do think fans want him to be as concerned with what he is seeing on defense as the fans are. If he doesn't address the issue, he will not be successful. That said, I believe that he will.

There is a part of me that is content with what happened Saturday night. It was the perfect storm of what many knew could happen. I'm kinda glad SC didn't just hand the game over, because they often do. If we would have taken this team into the CFP, OSU may have beaten us by 50-60.
