I don't understand why so many people don't understand that recruiting at Tennessee isn't easy. The reason the SEC has been so dominant isn't really because of our coaches, but because of the tons of elite talent found in the south east. For us to be dominant one of the powers with a strong base has to be down.

Just something to think about. UT has fewer FR & SO's starting than Bama, UGA, and UF. These kids have started 20-30 games or more in some cases. The excuses are getting old. I figured the defense would struggle a LITTLE while installing the 3-4. Not being able to tackle has nothing to do with installing a defense. Quitting has nothing to do with rebuilding.

Last year, 1 senior drafted and he was a transfer, and no jrs.
This year, we will have 1 Sr drafted.
Excuses nothing. If you don't know the importance of upperclassmen depth, talent and leadership on a team, you need another hobby.

And "quitting" has a lot to do with rebuilding. No UT players have been shown how to win in many years by srs. Then, when it gets tough, they don't respond. That's sports and team makeup. People like you call it quitting. Well, go tell Randolph he quit when he tore his knee up.
I cannot stand posters on here that call the kids quitters, yet will stand in line and get their autograph with a smile and a pic.

The last few years of Fulmer recruiting. Rict,Meyer,Saban,Spurrier,(insert name here) was beating us bad. Then those teams win and recruits want to go there. It is not like basketball where you can get 2 or 3 great players and turn it around. Then Kiffin's class was a BUST. They are the seniors now. Every good team in the SEC has senior leadership. We do not. I think Dooley and his coaches are doing a great job recruiting in getting the players we have now. When we do get back on top of the SEC we will be turning players away. You will see.

Sr leadership that also had senior leadership mentoring them. Don't think many see this as an issue. For goodness sake cdd had no QB on his roster when he got here. Just to EEs. That hurts in the terms of devolopment. This isn't an excuse but an issue. Good post bud :good!:

This is his third class. Oh I forgot, 2nd cause year zero didn't happen. I'm looking long term. And I'll tell you this...if we don't start winning some big games our recruiting will go down. You can be as big a smart ass as you want, but you wait and see. He out recruited Les Myles in one year. Kudos. When he does it year in and year out I'll gladly tip my hat to both him and you. Bottom line, win and our class will jump. Look at LSU's class over a period of time. And if they start losing watch what happens.

He did it in his 1st/2nd yr so give him time to start doing it back to back. See where some of us have problem with the negavols impatience?? The guy gets bashed for not being able to recruit yet he had our hat in the #2 spot for the #1 athlete in the country and one of the top RBs. Cdd had Henry thinking about us and we lost out to Bama, and UGA had no shot IMO. We r in on some really good recruits and yes we have to win(that's a no brainer), but he's in on some good ones cause he is showing them the plan and where they fit in. He's not riding a false success/foundation like Chisik or Hoke.

uninformed. i believe everybody on the planet has seen enough to know he can't coach. he can't gameplan, he can't recruit on the SEC level, he can barely beat anybody from the SEC, so why is he a coach in the SEC. simple we got screwed by kiffin at the end of recruiting and nobody wanted the job. now is the time to hire a better coach since everybody knows dooley is not going to get it done. i don't know of one person outside of a volfan that thinks he is the answer.

The SEC is unlike any conference in the country by a long shot. So needs to be looked at as such. There's a thread on here about how some guy heard some UGA fans wonder if they could get cdd at UGA. So there are some non volfans that think he is one to watch develop out there. I watched the games this past sat at a UGA buddy of mines house and it was like the UN of SEC fans there. Mostly UGA folks but some LSU, Bama, etc folks and all of them i spoke to, as the only UT guy, thought Dooleys Vols were improving and a future threat. There are people on both sides of the aisle.

I know it's been a few yrs but when I was in BR for the LSU game I got "Hey I'll/we'll trade you miles for Dooley!!" everywhere I went prior to the game and after. I heard that more than"tiger bait" and I only got one guy talk actual trash to me and my party. Even his friends told him to shut up and asked if i was up for the trade. I was on the fence in regard to him before that game, but I started to see him as the guy that was going to rebuild the foundation that had been destroyed over many yrs. Takes time which sux but is we r at right now.

i agree OSU fans are horrible, but doesn't mean they are wrong. heard the samething from people in arizona, kentucky arkansas florida and pennsylvania. i do believe dooley is like by his peers, but they are the only ones who will defend him and i believe it is out of friendship. most AP and media writers will tell you what everybody in the USA thinks and that is he sucks. he hasn't proven anything.

I don't think some people watch football outside of UT. Delay penalties, too many men, illegal motion, sub issues, missed tackles, blown coverages,...are happening in every football game played on the highest level with the best ever coaching and playing.

The difference is when our players miss tackles, have blown assignments and look lost out on the field. Our coach keeps sending them out there week after week as they do the same BS. He has no idea how to fix it. It's year 3 and they are still trying to get Bray to understand that the 40 yard fade route may not be the best throw when he has a RB doing jumping jacks out in the flat with no defenders within 15 yards. Just keep sending him out there though. When the players do not fear being yanked for screwing up, they can just keep on keeping on.

No. A win over a ranked team is the point. A win over 19th ranked State is as valid as a win over 19th ranked UF. Maybe not emotionally, but literally...

We can beat Bama and USCe, but should not be expected to do so. IMO, we should beat State, Missouri, Vandy and Ky.

Be who you are. That is respectable. -- Next years team will be tougher as well. All that NFL talk for our offensive players is a joke. -- Beating Bama will be a very big deal. South Carolina will be the clincher though. But even if we lose both I am not inclined to fire Dooley. The only way I would is for a Gruden or Cowher or someone of that ilk. Not for another neophyte. We are a better team and we can still have a very good year, this year. Not interested in giving up on this team or coach. Not at this point (the midpoint of the season).
