Why is it taking so long to turn around?

Condensed version=Not Dooley's fault.
Right?

Actually I didn't even mention Dooley in my post. Just answered the original question as to why it is taking so long to rebuild.
Condensed Version=Kiffin leaving after 1 year and leaving us with no players from that class.

Good think people in Ohio that put bags of dog **** on Herbstreits front door for saying OSU would lose on gameday are not only in tune with the UT program, but are also looked upon for advice and discussion.

Dooley is highly regarded by his peers in college football. Anything else stated is made up bs to support the hate. And who gives a rats ass what some shmuck in Ohio thinks about a program he knows little about.

i agree OSU fans are horrible, but doesn't mean they are wrong. heard the samething from people in arizona, kentucky arkansas florida and pennsylvania. i do believe dooley is like by his peers, but they are the only ones who will defend him and i believe it is out of friendship. most AP and media writers will tell you what everybody in the USA thinks and that is he sucks. he hasn't proven anything.

Will one if you Dooley Haters cough up $5000000 so we can fire him and hire another coach. That way the new coach can get all the credit and there will also be another name for you to bash if they don't win A championship in 2 or 3 years. It is nice tho to not cringe every day when you pick up a paper thinking one or more of the players got arrested for something.

hell championship. i would just like to beat somebody good.

I have 3 family members in Cleveland Ohio who played pro sports. And none of them went to OSU but did play major D-1 football. Along with others who didn't go pro but played D-1. Point is, these dudes know football and are not OSU homers. They think Dooley is a joke. But I'm sure they are uninformed and just making up BS. What do you expect Dooley's peers to say to the media? That he sucks.

They are informed about all things UT? The fall under Fulmer? The kiffin debacle? Basically losing a full recruiting class? 2 draft picks combined in the last 2 years and probably no seniors taken again this year? That's on Dooley? How we have to recruit? Where D1 players are where we have to recruit? TN HS football skill? Do they know we haven't had a Sr class in years that learned to win as underclassmen from upperclassmen who won? How about speed? Do they know our dbs that were here prior to Dooley run @ a 4.6, if that?
I could go on, but those will be called excuses, instead of reality. I doubt they know much at all of the total picture. It's easier just to look at the whole picture and say Dooley sucks. I don't know how its going to turn out or if he will be successful anywhere, but dismissing everything involved shows little knowledge.

You are talking about opinions from random people, many of whom can barely function through a day, and a collective group that not only elected the current prez, but may reelect as well. Who cares what some clown in Arizona says.

HA HA, that's funny. My uncle from Cleveland who now resides in Chicago is an NCAA hoops ref. when I asked him what were the worst places to call a game, he replied....1)South Carolina 2) Tennessee. He said when they were going to the locker room someone threw a battery at his buddy/fellow ref. and he too thinks Dooley is in over his head. In reality, they can say what they want. But those having confidence in Dooley are in the minority.

So a new coach is hired and gets all the credit ? So it will be the new coaches fault that someone else had to take Dooleys players and do something that Dooley couldn't do and that's win ? That will be a good problem to have.

These dudes are far more informed than you are giving them credit for. You can say what you want but I know the truth. These dudes know what is going on. They don't deny that Tennessee is struck on hard times. They like Tennessee, they like SEC football because it's like pro football. These dudes are not OSU homers, they grew up in a pro sports cities, plus they didn't go to OSU. And hell, half my family in WV are actually UT grads. They grew up WVU fans but many came to UT. Laugh all you want but it's true. And the opinions of Dooley are similar to how I feel. Good stop gap coach.

Gotta run, been good debating. Although it might get heated and we might sling poo at each other, we all really want the same thing in the end....WINS! We just have different opinions on how to get there. We in the same building with different views so to speak. Lots of passion on here and both sides prove good points. Negas and sunshine pumpers be safe and have a good day.

Yeah you know it all. Let's just give up, you're the man. I never said anything about judging him on his 3rd class that isn't finished. That's a FACT! You're using that as a pathetic attempt to strengthen your argument. I actually think this could be a good class, but it won't continue if we don't start beating people. That's what I'm saying.

You're trying to convince me that a coach without a winning track record is the man, then trying to down my intelligence while doing so. I've been down this road, I'll call a spade a spade. I've never seen someone with Dooley's track record mysteriously become a great coach.

You see, as a Bears fan I've sat through the mediocre years with the Dave Wandstadts and Dick Jarauns of the world. I cheered for them just like I did Tennessee, but knew deep down when going against the elite we would probably get our teeth kicked in as we did. Check those dudes track records. Mediocre to decent head coaches everywhere they've been. When I look at Dooley I see the same. And that's just how I feel. Been there done that.

I also heard a similar argument amongst the WVU fanbase. Many felt Bill Stewart needed more time because he was changing from a spread to pro style. Many felt they were making a mistake firing him after 3 years when in reality letting him hang around would have seriously set the program back. Especially with them moving to the Big 12. And like Dooley he was a great guy (RIP BILL!) but an average coach. So perhaps I AM an uninformed fan as you say. Or perhaps I've sat through these situations more times than I can count, and I see the same trend with the current situation that I've seen in the past. Time will tell, but history sides with my view on things.

We're both passionate, that's pretty obvious. And you seem to be a pretty intelligent guy from reading yours posts in the past. You have your take and I have mine. The future shall reveal who is uninformed. Until then.....

Wow...agreeing to disagree...such civility...

I like it!

When you have a losing coach at the controls, count on it taking ALOT more time. We may be having this same discussion the next 5 years if Hart decides saving money budget wise is worth losing ball games. If we lose to MSU, you can be sure Hart gets the message when 41,000 show up to see the Troy game.

:good!:

Pimp's carrying the fight to the Negavols.

I like it!

Then after he is done carrying the fight ,your the one that's bragging to your friends saying WE told the negavols off. He is saying everything you were going to say ? Sad

Yeah, after engaging in the riot I called a truce, LOL. But it's true. The passion can cause things to get out of hand. Gotta step back and take a deep breath at times. Dude's straight. He bring good stuff.

I hope Tn beats MSU by 100 but its MIss St. I have seen who they have played and if Dooley had that schedule he would be 5-0.
I guess if Tn wins that's Dooleys signature win ?

What was Florida ranked when we played them? Had we won that one, that would have been a signature win, right?

We were favored by 3 to beat UF. Whoops!

Miss State is not a a win that would save Dooleys job IMO. UF is a team in the East we have to compete with AND beat to play for championships. Will it give people a false sense of hope if we beat MSU, sure it will. When your grabbing for anything positive you can find in year 3, you know times ahead are going to be tough.

Lack of depth, less talent than the big boys and a lack of leadership. The last falls heavily on our staff and quarterback. Thankfully last week showed us something.. Maybe our boys are tired of gettin pushed around and disrespected.

It's about time. At some point the players have to respond. You ask any NFL guy, they'll all tell you coaching can only do so much. The players have to get to a point to where mentally they are letting it all hang out and I still don't think they are at that point yet. Close. But not there. I'm hoping that this off week may have given them a chance to mentally slow down and regroup. We'll see how the rest of the year works out.

Dude, I have pumped more than my share of sunshine on this board...

I have seen so many posts that are so over the top by the NegaDools that I have started ignoring the ones that I believe are just stirring the pot. I am all for debating the future, but a few folks are either so stupid that I don't need to hear what they have to say or they are just flaming for their own entertainment.

Ole pl3 here RR. No poo coming your way from me. Your assessment is fair and I don't dog anyone for the same opinion. I am wait and see.

we are in the third year of a major rebuild,a lack of quality depth and most of our starters are still jrs and sophs learning how to compete in the toughest conference in the ncaa.we are also installing a new defense.

Just something to think about. UT has fewer FR & SO's starting than Bama, UGA, and UF. These kids have started 20-30 games or more in some cases. The excuses are getting old. I figured the defense would struggle a LITTLE while installing the 3-4. Not being able to tackle has nothing to do with installing a defense. Quitting has nothing to do with rebuilding.
