Why is it taking so long to turn around?

You call it seeking out a reason for losing?

Should I call you a fan that has quit on this team? Or a fan that doesn't see how truly bad we were talent-wise? Or a fan with silly, unrealistic expectations?

Agree to disagree, but don't call me a dumba$$ and I won't call you one. How's that sound?

I have not quit on this team. I support this team no matter what. I quit on this coaching staff long ago. I quit on their lack of abilty to prepare a competitive team. I quit on their lack of knowledge how to fix much of ANYTHING that has went wrong. We just fall further and further behind.

As for the name calling, I think you have mistaken me for someone else. This, or maybe you are just calling me a dumba$$. Either way, do what you gotta do.

Maybe he could switch to a rugby style punting game later on this year that way he can buy himself another couple years to "teach the new system". Fans who seek out a reason for losing are just hard to understand. Tennessee should not be in this position.
Maybe you could switch teams to one who is on top now. You and your entitled fan brethren don't deserve to be in this position. I am personally sorry for all of you guys being put out. Truly.

We could go 0-12 and I would not switch teams. I am not actually being "put out" at all. As a matter of fact I am actually in the plus right now. I usually send an annual donation of 25,000.00 on top of my regular season ticket money to UT. I have done this since 2001. I had decided to stop doing it in 2010 when I noted the HC we had hired was a losing coach with little to feel good about. I did not support the idea that Tennessee had settled for a budget fix to coach this tradition rich program. I am letting the money sit for now. If and when Hart decides winning is important again, that money will be on it's way to UT. I know my cash hardly makes a dent, but there is alot of talk and I am not the only one who has stopped sending a check.

Be who you are. That is respectable. -- Next years team will be tougher as well. All that NFL talk for our offensive players is a joke. -- Beating Bama will be a very big deal. South Carolina will be the clincher though. But even if we lose both I am not inclined to fire Dooley. The only way I would is for a Gruden or Cowher or someone of that ilk. Not for another neophyte. We are a better team and we can still have a very good year, this year. Not interested in giving up on this team or coach. Not at this point (the midpoint of the season).

If we end up losing to both Bama and USCe that means all the teams we have beat is the bottom half of the SEC and that's if we actually beat them. That's the kind of season that the likes of Vandy,Ky,Ole MIss look forward to. I just don't see how Dooley can remain as coach beating the Vandys and KY of the SEC. IMO he has to win 2 of the next 3 to have any chance of coming back next year, plus not losing anymore games this year.

in my 30 yrs of life experience, the guys that always talk about how much they make or how much they give, make and/or give the least

No real argument, but guarantee me a coach that will have 4.7 speed dbs and beat teams like #1 Bama, soon to be top 5 Fla, top 5 SC and #5 at the time GA on the road and you got a deal. We are picking a helluva hard time to make a comeback in this league.

I said don't call me a dumba$$ because I think that is the equivalent to seeking out a reason for losing.

I did not say you quit on the team. I was comparing your statement that anybody that doesn't want to go ahead and fire Dooley is seeking out a reason for losing to me accusing you of quitting on the team. It was a comparison. I haven't...never mind....

The problem with that is there is not a DB on our roster that shows a 4.7 40 next to their name. 4.4-4.5 is what is listed for most everyone. There are ALOT of very productive DB's with that speed playing for every team in the country. Just because our coaches can't get them to play up to speed, does not mean it's not there.

yeah, you gotta think Teague would have caught Fla's TE running down the sideline, if only DD would have taught him how to run faster while chasing a runner with the ball.

He is putting a true freshman at safety over a sr, and has already benched teague, yet he isn't trying to change? He's tried a walking kicker over the #1 recruited kicker in the country. We looked terrible running the ball last year, but are near 180 yds a game this year, after hiring a rb coach, changing technique, changing ol coach, and putting a wr from last year at #1 rb this year, yet he's not trying to change anything?

I don't think making needed changes are what brings on his demise, but rather not having any other options.

Speaking of changes.
Most people on here did not buy into Sal's D stumping its toe like it has. Most bought into the fiery Youtube practice videos and he had to be great because he worked for Saban.

Fair or unfair he needed the D to be better than it has. Im sure he didn't expect it to be UF, USCe, LSU or Bama but better than it is none the less.

Yeah I caught that too. Earlier it was 4.6, now 4.7. But when them dudes committed to UT folks were happy. Now we need more players. Our DBs were highly coveted players.

There are 7 teams in the East. If we win this week and beat Missouri, Vandy and Ky, we will be 4-4 in the conference and should be 4th in the East behind GA, FL, and USCe. Not where I want us to be, but a hell of an improvement over 1-7 and dead last. Guess Dooley gets no credit for improvement, eh?

Much the same way alot of fans have quit on Dooley, it would not shock me to see some players have as well. Teague is listed as a 4.5 and Burton a 4.6 for what it's worth.

You are talking about opinions from random people, many of whom can barely function through a day, and a collective group that not only elected the current prez, but may reelect as well. Who cares what some clown in Arizona says.

AP and media are not random people.

No doubt. When we know the fla qb is going to run the ball, and he goes untouched for 80, it's crazy. When teams go off tackle for 75 over and over, any coach assumes you are going to make the tackle at the first or second level. When a guy like Teague is having a terrible game, and you all out blitz on 3rd and 9 to leave him on an island, there have to be frustrations.

HA HA, that's funny. My uncle from Cleveland who now resides in Chicago is an NCAA hoops ref. when I asked him what were the worst places to call a game, he replied....1)South Carolina 2) Tennessee. He said when they were going to the locker room someone threw a battery at his buddy/fellow ref. and he too thinks Dooley is in over his head. In reality, they can say what they want. But those having confidence in Dooley are in the minority.

roger that

I see, so Teague quit on Dooley, which is why his non pad 40 speed kept him from catching a slower runner.

That's full of awesome.

Sr leadership that also had senior leadership mentoring them. Don't think many see this as an issue. For goodness sake cdd had no QB on his roster when he got here. Just to EEs. That hurts in the terms of devolopment. This isn't an excuse but an issue. Good post bud :good!:

He did it in his 1st/2nd yr so give him time to start doing it back to back. See where some of us have problem with the negavols impatience?? The guy gets bashed for not being able to recruit yet he had our hat in the #2 spot for the #1 athlete in the country and one of the top RBs. Cdd had Henry thinking about us and we lost out to Bama, and UGA had no shot IMO. We r in on some really good recruits and yes we have to win(that's a no brainer), but he's in on some good ones cause he is showing them the plan and where they fit in. He's not riding a false success/foundation like Chisik or Hoke.

The SEC is unlike any conference in the country by a long shot. So needs to be looked at as such. There's a thread on here about how some guy heard some UGA fans wonder if they could get cdd at UGA. So there are some non volfans that think he is one to watch develop out there. I watched the games this past sat at a UGA buddy of mines house and it was like the UN of SEC fans there. Mostly UGA folks but some LSU, Bama, etc folks and all of them i spoke to, as the only UT guy, thought Dooleys Vols were improving and a future threat. There are people on both sides of the aisle.

I know it's been a few yrs but when I was in BR for the LSU game I got "Hey I'll/we'll trade you miles for Dooley!!" everywhere I went prior to the game and after. I heard that more than"tiger bait" and I only got one guy talk actual trash to me and my party. Even his friends told him to shut up and asked if i was up for the trade. I was on the fence in regard to him before that game, but I started to see him as the guy that was going to rebuild the foundation that had been destroyed over many yrs. Takes time which sux but is we r at right now.

haven't heard much of anybody outside tennessee fans defending dooley. have heard florida fans say they hope he stays at tennessee, but it was in a negative light. they enjoyed beating us. still doesn't change much that he has 3 weeks to show us something.

Im not here to say no improvement has been made but lets put some context behind the 1-7 and 4-4

LSU, Arky vs. Mizzou, MSU has a lot to do with that.

That leaves Vandy and UK as the constants. Which we should sweep no matter the situation.

While improvements have been made 1-7 vs. 4-4 doesn't really show what you would think it does.

who are you talking about. The amount of respect for any comment depends from where it came.

And the media are very random. George plaster is huge with many vandy people in town and my 12 yr old knows more about sports than him.

Media from other cities don't even know or care about UT. They just rewrite what they read from local yahoos.
