Why is it taking so long to turn around?

why not compare Sabans SEC record Vs Dolleys ? Truth hurts ? He took a 6-6 Bama team his 2nd year to 12-0 ... We will even scratch those 12 wins out and still We could count Sec wins on one Limb! Now you Facepalm and try to atleast be truthful p.s. Beating what you called a over rated Ohio State team at number 1with Toledo is much more impressive than pulling out a 4th quarter win to Akron with Tennessee!

Saban didn't have Tennessee's dire lack of talent to work with. He had a very capable Bama squad.

I'm sorry Dolley hired a baseball Coach his first season to coach DB's, I'm sorry he Hired an unproven DC that has yet to put our players in the correct Spots to make plays. I'm sorry he has lost this team many times in games, and I'm sorry Dolley said the loosing to Kentucky would turn out to be a good thing....is that better?

While your posts have gotten progressively dumber, my compassion for you has grown. It will be ok.

Maybe you can also be sorry that CDD made the hired he did because most quality coaches are still jittery about coming to the UT. You clearly have no idea of the depth of the mess the program was in and how it impacts anyone's decision to come here or stay clear.
Compounding this is the departure or nearly every coach we had last season which implies the UT is still not a desired place of employment. What's left to hire with that kind of mess? I'm sorry there's no herbal tea or pill for that.
I'm sorry ...i must have missed something. I saw a post stating Sabans record at MSU to hint that Dolley would turn things around like Saban ..I just posted some facts Dolley would not even come close to Saban record if you leave out Alabam..sorry it's the truth. The slimy Kiff took walk on and beat Georgia and South Carolina and almost upset Alabama. Now.. Dolley seems to be trying hard but if you are gonna judge a Coach on wins ,then don't cry when the facts come out.

Did not say Saban took over an Alabama team that was tops on the west. Asked who was on top in the west when Saban got tnere. The answer is of course LSU. 26-23 under Shula meant all they needed was a few playmakers and they were ready to go. Enter Ingram and Jones and Richardson et al. UT was not nearly as sound when Dooley got here. We needed players. And playmakers. We really needed everything.

That's my point exactly! Dooley has us to the Pre Saban status at Bama. Now it's time to bring someone in to finish the job like Bama did.

I have a guy that doesn't even have Tennessee in his top 3 teams located on his Avatar telling me how good a coach Dolleys is, why am i arguing with him? lol

We had a big name coach in Fulmer and once Saban locked down Louisiana when he coached LSU, Miles has carried that torch since. GA picks who they want from that state, Florida same as well. When Saban took over Bama, he secured the top in state talent.

Until we start to prove we are on the rise recruiting is going to be difficult, having all these threads about replacing DD is not going to help us out in recruiting as well. It took 7 years for HOF Spurrier to turn Carolina around and to start securing the top talent there as well. I know Carolina does not have the tradition in football that we do but the kids we are recruiting do not remember how we use to be at the top of the conference either.

I see you found Google.. our cupboards were bare. I will be nice... Coach Fulmer grossly started miss managing the program... But he did have help!

Tennessee is not my favorite pro basketball team. Or my favorite baseball team. Or my favorite football team. But, as college's go, UT is where it's at. You are arguing because you are childlike and.impetulant and really have NO knowledge of football or.anything else of consequence apparently. :hi:

I must disagree with part of your post. That part being that these threads are hurting. Have you looked at the LSU threads? They have been calling for Les Myles head for years now. UGA has been trying to run off Richt for 5-6 years now. And both fanbases has went on a rampage on Internet threads wanting to do so. Yet they recruit top 5 classes every year. Tennessee needs to WIN. That's the bottom line. So I disagree, but respectfully do so....

We had dropped to the middle of the pack a few years before Dooley arrived. The Fulmer exit was ugly, and while Kiffin's one year of football seemed even or maybe a bit better his year left us in even worse shape. Dooley was a last minute hire and his staff was scrambled together, ie chaos. Loss of almost an entire class left us young across the board. And a fan base that seems divided. The road back is going to be tougher. When both Majors and certainly Fulmer took over the SEC did not have 5 Top-10 teams to climb over to get back to the top. I hate losing as much as anyone and I do expect more than what we are getting, but I do believe we are getting better. Dooley was not my first choice for coach, but he is our coach and he and the team deserve our support. Let Dave Hart do his job.

Much as I love the Vols, I almost wish CDD would leave so Dooley haters are faced with the results. Results? Yep, what quality coach would want to come here even now? When you see we would be down to offering, excuse me, begging some high school or community college coach to come here, you'd realize CDD was a pretty good deal.

Was google ever lost? Why for do I need google? Now you are Fulmer bashing too? Be nice for what? Do what you feel. I ain't worried about you. It is fun smacking you around. You bring nothing to this board. We had plenty of ne'er do well punks complaining about everything already. You are nothing if not redundant. Carry on polluting out board.

These teams recruit well because of the abundance of talent located in their state. As long as these programs are top 10 in polls, recruits are still going to sign there. As far as you not thinking it hurts recruiting, talk to some parents of players on here and see what they tell you.

I don't even blame DD. I just want to know why it takes us 5 years and we're still in the bottom half of the east. I don't get it.

I think you know the answer and it is not rocket science.. We are rebuilding in the SEC against programs which have been established for a few years, the same years when our program was deteriorating. We live in an area where high schools do not produce the quantity or quality football players that are produced in SC, GA, FL, Al, TX, and La. It took Majors much longer than 5 years to rebuild the program that Battle left. Football is a sport which requires a minimum of two talented players at every position to be competitive if you suffer no injuries. A successful programs also requires talent and experience at every position. If you look at the most successful programs, you will find many of them have a number of fifth year, talented players. None of us are satisfied with our teams which have taken the field during the past 7-8 years, but we are improving. We are recruiting better players. We have a much better coaching staff than we have had in the last few years. We are going to win a lot of football games in the future if we continue on the current path. To abandon the current staff, we will delay our return to a competitive program another 4-5 years. I do not want that and I hope the rest of our fans don't either.

I agree with a normal cycle. But it is obvious this is OJT for Dooley. Firing the staff last year gave him some relief, but he is still in charge.
One example, ask any recruit ( I have spoke with 2 in state and 2 out of state) and to a man they ALL say UTs camps under Dooley are total Jokes when compared to other SEC schools. They work little and learn nothing.
In the end............that is the end!! Dooley will not last.
You can do it this year or 5 years, choose your pain!!
