In 2017 Germany got 9% of its total energy consumption from Russian gas and 40 percent of its total gas consumption. Germany's energy mix for power production is about 40% coal, more than 30% renewables, less than 20% gas and 10% nuclear.
White House on John Kellys reaction at NATO breakfast: He was expecting a full breakfast and there were only pastries and cheese - The Washington Post
You just cannot make this up.
Trump is a disaster. Come on! Get his azz out of there now! What an embarrassment he and the entire administration are to this country. Its pathetic.
Trump's handling of this situation reminds me more of some drama queen taking what should be private conversations and instead talking $hit to her friends on Facebook for all to see.
And like the drama queen I'm sure he loves the attention he's getting.
It has everything to do with it.
Whatever criticism Trump had to levy against Germany (and he should be able to differentiate between trade and national security), should have been kept out of the public realm. You don't bash an ally in front of cameras like that. It was uncalled for and not diplomatic at all. He is a bull in a China shop.
The Left isnt ok with disparaging our allies but has no problem when their political leaders criticize nearly half of the American people every chance they get? You know: deplorables, bitter people clinging to their guns and religion, angry white people, police are inherently racist, etc.
I think the threat of pulling out of NATO is something the media is making up (shocking, I know) but the overall question he asks is largely ignored by the media.
That Reuters report said 35% of German oil and gas come from Russia. With that likely to go up in the future. How exactly can you defend yourself (in Germany's case) if Russia really wanted to apply the screws to them? I'm talking economically and militarily.
Trump is correct in bringing this up. NATO and Germany wants to talk about the possible threat from Russia. But they put themselves in a position to be beholden to the same nation that's threatening them.
There is nothing wrong with addressing that situation either. The way he did addressed it wasn't constructive.

I do question the "why" of the cameras in that meeting.
Plenty of times for that to come up behind closed doors. Of course, now that it's in the public, perhaps some will ask that question like I did.
Or screech like LG.

It wasn't necessarily that he brought it up in public (although an issue in its own right), but how he went about it. As in life, it's not necessarily what you say, but how you say it. It just compounds an already unnecessary situation.
You never answered mine. Id like to know how anyone think Trump doesnt have resolve. If he has anything its resolve.
