The facts you are using to support your theory is that the UK coach has never won an NCAAT game. The variables also depend on matchups. It's not just in a vacuum. So right now, today. You'd bet big money that we will go further in March than KY will? And as the saying goes, bet like someone has a gun to your head.
Scoring offense is ranked 182, id say us playing well 9 out of 10 on offense is a stretch. I hate it but our struggles on offense are what they are.3 times out of 25 games - that’s 12%. So we play well on offense 9 out of every 10 games to go with the #1 defense in the country. That’s national title contender territory. I’ll take that all day long.
Last year?Rick will always be a coach that never gets over the hump. He enjoys getting to the hump and climbing it, but just doesn't have what it takes, unfortunately, to climb over the hump. Not saying the team is not without blame for last nights predictable game vs the cats, but he gets to the hump often and failed once again. Love the team but if we make it to the 16, just don't see how Rick Barnes gets us any further.
I can't vouch for all the replies, but I 110% stand behind today what I said in making this thread yesterday.I really think we need to install a 24 hour wait period after a loss to post![]()
. Some of these takes are utterly ridiculous...SMH!
I don't know about "carry" our offense ( I do agree a ot of people expected that) but the guy has to get more than 10 in a big game.I think we expected Lanier to carry our offense more than he is capable of. He feasted on weaker opponents. In 5 losses he is shooting 26% from 3 and averaging 12 points per game. His 3 high scoring games in the SEC came against Arkansas, Miss St. and Okl. When the competition goes up, he struggles.
Nether did Barnes his first year here. In fact Barnes didn't get there his first 2 years and only won his first game in his third....Now comes the old excuse. He took over a dumpster fire. Like nobody else ever takes over one except UT....Well. Maybe KY that just thumped us twice with a new coach.....and thrown together players. The original statement is still true. Beard didn't get out of the first weekend in that one year.
So what you are saying and avoiding admitting is....You wouldn't bet on it. GotchaThe facts you are using to support your theory is that the UK coach has never won an NCAAT game. The variables also depend on matchups. It's not just in a vacuum.
It doesn't matter what I would bet or not. It's a weak assertion.
You kind of cherry-picked those to stop at 3 games. He had 19 (over his average) at home against UF. He had 17 (at his average) at Vandy. He had 15 at home against UK. It's clear that we need him to contribute when we play a high level team.I think we expected Lanier to carry our offense more than he is capable of. He feasted on weaker opponents. In 5 losses he is shooting 26% from 3 and averaging 12 points per game. His 3 high scoring games in the SEC came against Arkansas, Miss St. and Okl. When the competition goes up, he struggles.
First of all go ahead and bet the farm. Second, we can't shoot outside or inside a lot of the times. When you get to March you will play folks that has shooters and length...Like the team last night that thumped us twice.I'd bet on it. KY HAS to shoot a very high percentage to make a run. A bad night shooting from 3 and they go home.
If you are comparing 2017 NCAA environment to the 2024 NCAA environment, then I will refrain from saying what you are. Purposely obtuse or don't have a clue.Nether did Barnes his first year here. In fact Barnes didn't get there his first 2 years and only won his first game in his third....Now comes the old excuse. He took over a dumpster fire. Like nobody else ever takes over one except UT....Well. Maybe KY that just thumped us twice with a new coach.....and thrown together players.
So you are saying UT will go further in the tournament than KY...but you would not bet on it and pass up a surething. That's dumber.I'm not avoiding jack squat. I do not expect UK to go far in the NCAAT, but you have trouble deciphering the issues if you just want to throw out a "bet on it." That's dumb.
