Why Tennessee will have a good season this year

I'll tell ya, that Notre Dame defense looked horrible against USC. How much did USC beat them by? Oh, that's right..

So, he should have told the coaches to keep him out or not tried because the teams he faced were not up to snuff? This is kooky talk. The kid ran against the teams he got to face. That's it plain and simple.

Arian may have caught some teams by surprise, but he is no pushover. He had 2 0r 3 50+ runs after the catch called back b/c of holding. He reminds me of Titans RB Chris Brown. He had pretty much one bad play last year and that was the fumble against USC. Why are we questioning his play at all??
I'm simply saying he's not as talented as the guys who came before him. Not sure how that's being negative.

Not as talented means jack. Riggs showed us how far talent takes you. Cedric Houston and Jabari Davis too. Heart is a big factor in football, if you dont have that or work ethic then talent means absolutely nothing

How many total yards did SC have in the game? How many times did ND stop them? SC did whatever they wanted offensively. How did the great Notre Dame defense do against the vaunted Michigan State offense?

I consider myself a realist, and there are very few realists on this board.

No, I'd say you stating that we have no chance of going 9-3 or better is being pretty negative. I think we coud easily do it.

None of the three guys you mention have great talent. Why would anyone who ever watched them have expected them to be great players?

Isnt that the fun of rooting for your team though? I mean Vandy fans know that they suck but the real fans show up every week to root their team on. Realist to me, arent real fans. You need to show some homerism and have a little faith sometimes.

Riggs has no talent? He was the most talented running back in high school. His work ethic just wasnt their. Travis stephens wasnt really talented, but he owns the single season rushing record.

i think that's quite a negative way of looking at it.

I guess it's a good thing then that I'm not really concerned about what you or anyone else here thinks. I have my opinion, and given the fact that I accurately predicted last season's implosion for UT, I'd say that it's at least as valid as the opinions of anyone else here.

Note to moderators: Note that I'm not taking a shot at anyone here, but I'm entitled to state my opinion without be called negative. Perhaps I'm not negative. Perhaps I'm just correct.

Well congratulations. We have a psychic on the Nation now. Hey predict all the scores for this year for us. I need to get paid.

Nobdy stopped USC for 3 years except Texas. And that was just for one half and one drive in the 4th quarter. Notre Dame's D is awful. It will cost them 2 or 3 games this year.

75 cents and all of Riggs high school press clippings will buy you a USA Today. He was neither exceptionally fast nor elusive. Travis Stephens only holds the single season rushing record because the two guys who kept himon the bench were gone by his senior season. He had to redshirt to get past those guys or he would have never seen the field.

But he didn't play more games did he?

talking about us having a good season, it depens on what is good.

i say 7 wins in the regular season or less is a dissapointment.

8-4 i would find averaged and the bowl could swing it either way.

9-3 is good imo and a bowl win would also improve that.

10 wins would be great. i would be happy for sure winning the east, and if we win the sec, obviously it would be great.

any bcs bowl would also be great.

sorry, just had to get that out.

Syracuse played in a BCS bowl in '98 and won at Michigan.
Big deal. Did you miss the point completely? They allowed 300 ppg and that in the Big East for goodness sake. They were not a good defensive football team.

Exactly who did Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Memphis beat? Which major bowl did those teams play in?
You conveniently left out ND and USC, huh? FTR, neither of them allowed 300 points and played much better schedules than SU did in 98.

In fact, ND took a USC team down to the wire... That's who Foster ran against....
Foster didn't even face a defense as good as the '97 Georgia D. Take a look at Jam's numbers against them.
So when you were comparing Foster 05 to Lewis 98... Lewis was a Sophomore, right?

I'm not saying that Foster will or will not be better than anyone to include Lewis. I am saying that your comparison is ridiculously unreasonable. You are trying to compare what a guy might do to what a guy did.

Just WHERE exactly did I state that we have no chance of going 9-3 or better?

Let me help you. Here was my statement:

"I see little to no shot for UT to finish at 9-3 or better this season."

That's right! NOWHERE did I state that we have no chance of going 9-3 or better. I stated that I see little or no shot for UT to finish at 9-3 or better this season. That's called an opinion, and it's a valid one.

Then why were they so highly recruited? If it was so easy to see?
In Jabari Davis' case, anyone who thought he was anything more than a decent short yardage back should be barred from ever evaluating football players again. Cedric Houston was a decent college player. Riggs was the same thing. College teams have to project when recruiting. Thy obviously thought thsoe players would improve from high school. None of them got any better. Not one of them would have gotten significant carries on the UT teams from '95-'01.
