Will Muschamp to UF

This actually might be a worse hire than the Dooley hire because of the timing of it. Florida had ample time to find a coach; Tennessee had 3 days to find theirs.

UT also had a depleted roster and two coaches the two years before it. UT didn't look like a destination job.

It all depends on what kind of staff he brings in and how he manages that staff.

Randy Shannon was a great DC, but couldnt manage the team or game.

Just sayin

And Muschamp's not the most stable guy around.

We'll see.

I don't know if Muschamp has the temperament to be a HC.

He's a phenomenal DC though.

He's a tough coach no UF players will be taking it easy, the Texas players loved him, and he can recruit.

My Grandma could recruit at Texas. Thats not a very good indicator of someones recruiting ability. 95% of your classes are Texas kids that line up to play for the team.

Anyone who says they would of been happier with Dooley than Muschamp last year is the biggest liar in the world.

I was thinking the exact same thing. There was a huge amount of people on here a year ago (and two years ago for that matter) that wanted to see Muschamp coaching the Vols.

Will Muschamp is already on the hot seat, imo. If they have another 7-8 win season next year, Foley may have another decision to make next December.

i thinkfoley sees the spread can only work in the sec if you have tebow or a cam newton. you can't base your team for the next 5-7 years on that. you have to be able to function and replace players and not have to have percy harvins and tebows or the offense won't work. with a basic offense you can still be affective.

I disagree with you on this. The spread can work in the SEC, and it's not just contingent on having a QB that can run. With Tebow, he was 80% of their offense, minimum, regardless of whether we're talking run or pass. Meyer had a piss poor record of recruiting RBs and/or "coaching them up" once they got on campus, so the burden of carrying the ball fell on Tebow. If Florida had a Lattimore or a Richardson or an Ingram, they could still run the spread, or some variation of it, and be successful. If you have nobody, OB or otherwise, that can consistently run the ball, the spread will struggle. Hard to spread the D out and run the ball when there is minimal to no concern for your ability to run it. And, nobody bother throwing Demps and Rainey out there. These two are athletes more than RBs IMO and are most effective when getting the ball on the edge and/or in space where they can make plays. Not suited to be featured ballcarriers.

I never wanted Muschamp and was relieved when I heard he turned UT down. Hamilton would have received some epic hate mail from me if that's who we had ended up with.

Thats probably why he got the job. No other coach wanted to come in faced with the unrealistic expectations of the Florida fanbase

word around the campfire is that kirby smart will be d-coord.
