Will the real Trayvon Martin please stand up?

That does seem to be the case, and if the story he's telling is true then the thing he is most guilty of is profiling. Which isn't a huge deal normally but in this case may have contributed to the death of a person.

Exactly. And that's what people are missing.

I'm not going to deny the media has dramatized this thing and so many different issues have come out of it. But we are missing the point. While not 100% sure, there's a good chance someone died because of profiling. That's a tragedy in of itself.

Can't tell if sarcasm or not, but actually I think it really hurts. It's getting better, but everyone sees Lil Wayne on the TV, not Kendrick Lamar.

60/40 sarcasm. Mainstream rap doesn't help anyone except the fake thugs spitting that BS.

Don't get me started on mainstream rap. As a lover of rap and hip-hop, the current radio play is disgusting and ridiculous. What's crazier is that it's actually better than where it was.

Thank you Notorious BIG.

Channeling Ras V: fake thug.

In my uneducated guess: GZ listened to rap music at some in his life.

How old is Zimmerman? Early 30's I believe?

So about ten years ago, he probably listened to some rap. Ten years ago, rap music was definitely in the "Thug Life" part of it's growth. Possible he heard those songs and made those assumptions.

I won't make assumptions as to what his prejudices or beliefs are but him following a teenager when advised not to is suspicious.

Not trying to make assumptions, just a hypothetical.

Following a teenager in of itself is suspicious.

Anyone paying attention knows that's not Trayvon in the bottom picture.

Rap music is not helping at all, but we still have a choice. I've said it all along it starts at home. Until we start teaching our kids that "being hard" leads to destruction, then the only ones raising them are the rappers bragging about dope money and guns.

I heard my godson's daddy playing a song on his car stereo , the song "I'm a real n word"
The child is 3 and he is being subjected to race crap already.
Yes I'm white and have a black godson .

Aren't you stereotyping? Since he is Hispanic he listened to thug music? Nice.

They take anything they can and turn it into how repressed black people are and how white people are just racist. I take that pretty offensively. But b/c I'm white it doesn't matter right.

I have recently gotten into the late 1800's- early 1900 german philosophers. Husserl, Heidegger and such with the phenomenological movement. Cannot say I really "get it" yet but I like what I know can get so far haha.

Just read some Husserl a couple days ago. I like his philosophy of boiling everything down to mathematics. I know he is bias being a mathematician by training, but it fits into my metaphysical beliefs (pantheism).

Didn't he contribute to the concept of a clockwork universe?

Oh crap, this is hilarious. Congresswoman Corrine Brown claiming she would care as much if a white person had been killed. She points to a case where she cared when a white girl got murdered, and she could not provide the name of the deceased. Very awkward moment. Kudos to the journalist for asking that question.
