Wiseman ineligible

This is a pretty good article and why the NCAA is crap.
Doyel: Do the right thing, NCAA, and free Memphis' James Wiseman

What a crock of BS. "Yes, technically (meaning actually) they broke the rules, but let's let it slide anyway.". Hardaway paid for the kid to play for him in high school and now he has him in college, too. I coach high school sports and would be burned for doing much less.

I mean, I don't know how much more blatant of a rules violation there is than this and Memphis simply got an alum judge to give them a stay, then gave the finger to the NCAA. If he gets to play, what's the point of the NCAA anyway?

What's the point of the NCAA? Great question.

For as much flak as it gets, it does serve some purpose and this is one area in which it should. Penny, basically, bought the services of the kid when he was 16. It's highly unethical, in my opinion, and a distinctly unfair advantage.

What about the other kids he has helped who aren't athletes?

He pay another family $12,000 for their moving expenses to study at Memphis East?

I don't think he paid for Wiseman out of the goodness of his heart. This was a basketball deal, clearly. Perhaps if he could prove this was done to improve the life of Wiseman, but I doubt he could prove simply moving did this.

I am not sure. I was legitimately asking a question. Would it change your opinion if he did help.other families who weren't athletes?

Some, but not much. He still paid Wiseman's family for a specific reason, to play ball for him. I mean, the kid wasn't suffering in Nashville. He went to one of the most exclusive and expensive private schools in the state.

Lie.

I can name dozens of people that Penny has financially supported that had nothing to do with basketball. The list is as follows:

<eom>

And Calipari (VaCATe 2 FF)
And Pastner (On probation now)
And Tic Price (Banging coeds)

Larry Finch had the keys to the Tiger High Fieldhouse (original MSU BB court) and would collect players from S. Memphis to go and play whenever they wanted. The players would be picked up and returned home by student volunteers, player personnel or assistant coaches.

i agree 100% if the ncaa lets this slide{just like LSU got away with in BB} Then it is anything goes!

Apparently Wisemen is suing the NCAA which is laughable. This would be the crown jewel of NCAA ineptitude if they reversed this. If Penny literally paid Wisemen to move to Memphis to play for him in high school and has been deemed a "Memphis Booster" then on what grounds does Wisemen hope this gets over-turned? If that's the case just tear the whole system down and abolish the sport because that would set a terrible precedent.

P.S. I am dying laughing at Memphis saying "**** it" and playing Wisemen tonight anyway. Hilarious.
How could Penny not be considered a Booster ?
