You are making too much sense...I don't like Memphis, but this feels pretty unfair. As far as I know, the NCAA doesn't have jurisdiction to ban a player from moving to play for a high school coach. Penny had no association with Memphis at the time other than it being his alma mater and doing what many of us have done, that being donating money to their school.
What's to stop the NCAA from coming after the Vols on something trumped up? I'd be shocked if none of our players in football or basketball had something similar happen to what happened with that Ohio State player this morning. I'm all for Memphis going down, but not like this.
Kentucky makes more sense than anyone else. Did Barnes waste any time recruiting Wiseman at all? I don't think so.I've heard from 2 people associated with the program that they suspect someone from UK is responsible...
Some hurt feelings over the DJ Jeffries decommitment and it was only UK/Mem involved with Wiseman so UK has knowledge of the Wiseman situation
I’m hopeful it’s both.Memphis is on trouble. Given the TSSAA issues, his history with Penny, Penny's booster status, and Wiseman's high profile status, Wiseman was subjected to joint standard eligibility review in the Spring of 2019. With that level of review, either Memphis's compliance office rubber stamped their review (lack of institutional control) or Penny lied (show cause).
I guess someone is finally saying **** you NCAA. There is a court date 11/18 I think.
There is a hearing scheduled for November 18th to determine Wiseman's eligibility. Anyone else involved in a situation like this, would have waited until after that hearing to play Wiseman. Playing him tonight, when they didn't even need him to win, was not very smart.Memphis is on trouble. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t love the NCAA.....but this just sounds strange.
If you own a business and you don’t hire someone (say for lack of knowledge or something). Can a judge now simply say......hold on a minute?
I understand sometimes things happen, but From what I read, Memphis has acknowledged the player (or family) has received impermissible benefits. Per the rules.....it don’t matter if Penny was the coach at the time or not.

That is exactly right. It only matters that Penny had done enough to be considered a Memphis booster.Don’t get me wrong, I don’t love the NCAA.....but this just sounds strange.
