Woke companies are crazy

I don't know, but there was no backlash regarding the comments. The mouth breathing bud light fans didn't revolt until their beer went gay.
Ok. It's irrelevant. Budlight messed up. They have those comments combined by action. It was stupid on Bud light and this is the consequence. It is what it is.

The fact mouth breathers knew nothing of the comments makes this strictly them revolting against the inclusion of the gays.

Anecdotal at best, but I haven't noticed a drop off in empty Bud Light cans in the ditches on the back roads.

If she had put it in a quote on the can, there would've been backlash. You think people are paying that much attention to statements by the marketing directors of corporations? The only reason that quote resurfaced was because of the Mulvaney backlash and it proved that this lady was very much keyed in to attempting to change the Bud Light demo.

Obviously. They've survived far bigger hits in the past 3 years. As usual, social conservatives are limpdicks when it comes to boycotts.
Boycotts are idiotic in general. I find all this corporate bowing before an extreme minority offensive and I personally choose to not support that. That's all I can do. If that is 'limpdick', so be it. But I know that none of my money goes to AB.

"Bud Light had been kind of a brand of fratty, kind of out-of-touch humor, and it was really important that we had another approach"

That's attacking the customer base. The easiest thing to learn when getting a marketing degree was that PR was crucial. She could say something that includes a separate customer base, no problem. But to tag an approach in a negative light is poking a segment of the base and has potential to harm the brand.

Who the hell cares? 0.1% of the people with their panties in a twist about the campaign were offended without knowing this bit.

It's the craziest thing that this is being turned into an insult against their customer base. They're saying they did it one way before and now they want to change their image, and you are saying customers are supposed to be taking their self-reflection as a personal insult, for some reason. It's taking sensitivity to all new levels, TBH.

I boycotted Anheuser-Busch products back in the early 90's when, even as a lowly college student, I realized their beer sucked. Of course, since they were bought out by In-Bev and then merged with SAB/Miller, they have a lot of additional brands under the corporate umbrella now - a total of about 400 brands.

Be mad about it all you want. It's the situation at hand and they should have known. It was a negative comment. A dumb one.

I'm not the customer base of bud light. I'm a guy who got his degree in marketing and understand what they did was risky and now they are paying the price. If you switch a customer base by declaring that you are looking to ditch one, it better be the right play, this wasn't. Clearly.

They weren't "looking to ditch one." What in God's name are you talking about.

Obviously it was a mistake because of the reaction, but that's playing the results. who knew bud light drinkers had such a problem with LGBTQ? It's nuts.

Coors has had pride cans, so why shouldn't bud light have felt OK about this Mr. Marketing Degree?

Cringy as all get out. Best comment was "excuse me I am a woman and have had to fake it many times. So have you Governor." Ha

Pride isn't polarizing on it's own. Proof being that plenty of beers have had supporting causes without boycott. This year though, it's become a little more polarizing coming from the trans side. Dylan Mulvaney was and has been polarizing. The trans agenda is undeniably a divisive topic right now. Bud Light was late to that and plenty were outspoken about it. All it takes are a few truth seeking, agenda free FGs to get the real opinion.

Polarizing = bad for brand management.

I'm not explaining the comments by the VP. However, the totality of the situation certainly compounded to support an agenda the base wasn't in agreement with. I take the philosophy to not get political. Ever. It avoids issues like this. Same goes for right wing statements.

Boycotting just the Bud Light brand is ridiculous. Since they have about 400 brands worldwide, there is a decent chance you’ll switch to another one of their brands if you’re not paying attention.

These days, I’m not a big beer drinker. However, there are two brands in the Inbev portfolio that I will miss: Four Peaks was a local Arizona brewery that Inbev purchased probably about 12 years ago. The other one is Hoegaarden. That’s a damn fine Belgian white ale.

I think enough people have gone the whole AB brand. They effectively sacked two folks for it and trying to stop the bleeding. Paid leave is another way of saying negotiating severance.

It's made no change in my daily life (don't drink often at all). If I do drink it's not AB products. No reason except preference for me

For argument’s sake I disagree with your first sentence. If you work for KFC and revenue drop 30% for the year, you’re not celebrating if YUM Brands overall revenue is up 5%.

See my edit that shows the 2 Inbev beers that I do actually like. However, I drink very little beer these days. I’m mostly a wine drinker/collector. I drink beer mainly when I’m out at a restaurant because wine selections in restaurants are usually poor and the pricing is obscene.

You may not be celebrating, but the company as a whole doesn’t take a huge hit. I’m generally not into boycotting companies. However, I think if you’re going to actually do it, you may as well actually make it count.
