Worley is one tough sonofabutch

Nothing to argue there, though Blanc should catch that every time.

damn...we don't get to argue.

My main concern is Worley though. Any win this team gets will probably be by razor thin margins, like yesterday. they will need him to play better than what he did yesterday against the likes of Mizzou, Vandy, UK, and Auburn.

still has much work of course. Timing and confidence should continue to grow. My main concern is that I still want a mobile qb, or at least one that will use his feet more to extend drives.
As average or mediocre as he is, to be objective, you have to say we may have beaten fla with him starting, he did enough to beat Ga/didn't lose the game, and led his team to a W against a more talented qb and team yesterday.

Ha. We are agreeing too much. I agree on the UF thing for sure. Bad decision by Butch.

For the life of me I cannot figure why Worley never keeps the ball. The are 6-10 yards for him if he keeps it until teams believe they need to defend him keeping it.

let's get realistic on Worley.

NOTE: I LOVE THAT WE WON...but we can still realize there are issues.

Worley's stats are very average and if you take away the 2 incredible catches by North, they are downright pathetic.

Yeah, you hate to talk about bad things after a loss, but Worley just wasn't very good. He misses way too many easy, stick throws that an SEC QB just has to be able to make.

the coach the last 3 years made everybody frustrated so a lot of people, including me at times, would take out frustration on other posters and arguments ensued. I hold no grudges.
As far as him keeping it, imo, it's because he has always been a pocket passer and never even scrambled, even in HS. He's 21 now, so breaking habits he's had since he started playing qb a decade ago are hard to do. Plus, it's his first go at the read option and I'm pretty sure he is scared Clowney or another nfl DE is going to knock his ass out when he reads one poorly, which will happen if he ran too many.

I am not sure that I would be bold enough to hang this win on Worley. I think that our OL (especially second half), our defense, North and Palardy get the credit for this win. I appreciate Worley's resilience and his grit in playing through a bruised (or worse) thumb injury...but he was mediocre as usual. I am not complaining...I am happy we have him for now...but I would not give HIM the win.

not give him the win? Don't know what that means. He was the qb that led the team to the biggest W in years. That's not debatable.

It's good to root for a team that has a QB who knows the offense, is coachable, is respected by his teammates, doesn't turn the ball over, and makes a positive play at the end of a game against a good opponent to get the WIN.

Worley shows up and works hard every day, doesn't complain, hasn't been in the news for being a knucklehead and gets the most out of his ability.

Perhaps if he was able to capitalize on the many defensive turnovers. So frustrating...I will admit that our receivers dropped a few that were placed well within their reach. However, there were other vols who stood out as game changers. Worley executed just enough to win but he was not the reason we won. Not being a negavol...just think it is lame to always hang a win on a QB when there were more impressive players. Palardy gets the ball, IMO.

I still don't understand "hanging" the win on Worley. I don't believe anyone here has said Worley carried the team on his shoulders and won the game by himself. It was a team effort.
However, being that he makes every play call in the huddle, gets everyone lined up, every check, every handoff, and every throw after getting every snap, to take away what he did as far as leading and game management is a slight. If we have a more talented, rocket arm qb that turns it over a couple of times, or maybe even once yesterday, we lose, and Palardy and North don't get to be heroes.

Considering he has started only 6 games in the SEC, I think he ms doing alright.

Some of you, I swear...

I'd like to know a % of posters that have the slightest idea of what it takes to be a qb. I also assume some watch no other football because there are terrible passes and plays by almost every qb in every football game played this weekend.

Not sure if you are referring to my comments....but my point is that we so often jump to hang a win on the QB and forget other stand out players. This game was a team effort...but if anyone deserves the ball it's Palardy, North...and the collective Defense. There really is no way around that. I am fine with Worley, glad he is a Vol...just being honest about his performance.

That being said...6 games is practically a lifetime in the SEC. I can think of a handful of QB's that have done better with less starts.

3 weeks ago the volsnation is calling for his head... This week he beats the #11 team in the country of the united states against the coach that didn't recruit him from his home state.

All the while putting his team on his back with a long bomb setting up the game winning FG, not to mention earlier running 15+ yards and lowering his shoulder into a Cock.

Proud of Worley for dealing with all the criticizement earlier this year and coming up with the win, proud of all our fans for continuing supporting him. I consider him an upgrade from Taylor bray and look forward to seeing him continue to improve week in and week out.

Go vols next up Alabama the debate about Worley is here!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is it?
Who is it?

Had North not made that catch, we lose because of Worley and his awful second half. WellMike Davis too, but still. The previous throw would have been first down to Croom but he made an awful throw.

Great throw. Nice job of protecting the ball. But he stills needs to improve big time.

no doubt he has improved. I remember when he could barely make passes at all

I personally believe the receivers have improved more than Worley has. I think he looked worse because he couldn't trust them. Now he's getting to a point where he has at least 3 guys he can go to and expect them to make a play.

I don't really get the feeling that people are complaining or questioning. More like being honest. It's great to celebrate the win and I am pretty sure that 99% of "complainers" that you refer to would choose Worley over any other option that we have on the team. I like the guy! I do, but, you are delusional if you are not the least bit concerned about the Offense and their lack of execution and the ability to convert. We Won!!! Hooray! Awesome! That rocks...but trust me, CBJ will be preparing for Alabama and he won't be assuming that Worely has arrived. We have a long long way to go. I am thrilled with turning the corner but it is still an uphill climb. Buckling up for the ride...VFL!

This! He stepped up in the pocket and took the shot on those long balls down field. He reminds me of both Clausens. He's a servicible college qb. He's not gonna beat you with his legs and why should he? He keeps us in games by making the smart play and not turning it over which is a huge improvement over Tyler Bray choke jobs.

Its both, but your timing and trust inclination is correct. Hopefully, more trust is there and more passes can be made with confidence as to where the wr is going to break.
Young wrs are an issue just to get them lined up, much less them learning a new system, much less learning the checks, much less reading a route, all while not going at full, instinctive speed because of the information overhaul and lack of confidence. That leads to poor timing of course.

I hear what you're saying....but at least we beat a ranked SEC team!! Let's be happy with that....and Worley is getting better. He's not Peyton, Casey, or Heath.....but he's our QB. Let's back him and the team!

GO VOLS!!! Great win for the program yesterday!

I put Him in the Steve Alatorre territory. He doesn't have the greatest skills but He puts 100% effort in every game.
