Worley is one tough sonofabutch

That name (Rick Clausen) should be banned from this board

Why? Because you cannot remember Rick Clausen leading Tennessee to a win in Baton Rouge, one of the greatest comeback victories in my lifetime? Will the Legion of the Miserable ever pour itself a nice tall glass of STFU?

He did something Bray never did. Win a meaningful game

Bray would be almost perfect this year if he stayed. We would already be in a bowl game if we had him. Worley didn't win the game, his defense held up instead of folding.

Worley made key throws in EVERY drive that led to points.

So...does Dobbs start against Bama...or is Riley still the favorite on this board?

Though this Clausen didn't have as much talent I would take him over Bray any day! Shoot, he wasn't as good as his brother but he is more liked than him! Say what you want (and I personally didn't care for him) Casey Clausen was a good college QB.

How about all the worm bruisers he threw to that lead to 3 and outs. I like Worley because he's our qb, but our kicker won the whole game for us. Palardy helped prevent SC's offense from scoring.

To the other poster, had Bray had this defense they never would've lost a game last year.

I have thought about that a million times. That would mean that we would not have Butch right now. I like this outcome.

Something else to think about...
All of the offensive pieces were in place last year. As a Head Coach you know that it is put up or shut up time. The decision was made not to tune up the defensive side of the ball with minor changes but to completely change philosophy.

for you to say that Casey Clausen was 'serviceable' is absurd. He was 34-10 as a starting QB for the Vols...He started 44 of the 47 games he played in., including starting as a freshman in some very unfriendly locales..he was 14-1 on the road in the SEC....and he gave his all every time he went on the filed.

Heck even comparing Rick to Casey is a gross error...IMHO

You're exactly right, double-d :). Those 34 career wins you mentioned makes Casey the 2nd most winningest QB in Vols history, 5 wins behind the GOAT. Casey also became just the 2nd player in Vols history to surpass 9,000 career yards.

Casey might not have been All-American quality, but he was far more than "serviceable". Go back and watch some games if you disagree. He threw some dimes.

Weird. I would've sworn that the Offense & Defense had something to do with that win. Maybe even the coaches, just a bit.

LSU agrees...transfers from there and then beats them with an amazing come back. Also beat Texas A&M in the cotton bowl game and was MVP. So what's your problem with him exactly?

Weren't those like his only 2 good games?

I loved Casey! His bro Rick, not so much

No. If Bray had stayed, the Vols would be scrambling to get Worley ready w/o the benefit of spring practice and fall camp preparing him as the starter.

Why? Because Bray was a knucklehead who apparently put himself above the team and took improper benefits. He would be ineligible. Once again, embarrassing the program and leaving his teammates in a lurch because of his selfish actions.

I've got to hand it to Butch---he stuck with Worley when all the Monday Morning Quarterbacks wanted him gone. Kid hung in there and made some tough throws---got smacked on more then a few plays but he didn't have any turnovers. He showed great poise and toughness.

Today is a beautiful day, but let's not rewrite history. Butch benched him when all the Monday Morning Quarterbacks wanted him gone and we lost to Florida as a result.

Bray would have only lost to Oregon this year.

Last year our offense and bray won us every game that we got alone with no help. This year our defense, special teams, and running game are getting it done. If we had a good qb we beat Fl and Ga.

Worley has improved and I'm proud of his effort but he did not do something bray didn't do, the team as a whole did something the others didn't. In fact if your honest and some won't be (those looking for likes) he's the weakest link in our offense if not the team right now.

3 weeks ago the volsnation is calling for his head... This week he beats the #11 team in the country of the united states against the coach that didn't recruit him from his home state.

All the while putting his team on his back with a long bomb setting up the game winning FG, not to mention earlier running 15+ yards and lowering his shoulder into a Cock.

Proud of Worley for dealing with all the criticizement earlier this year and coming up with the win, proud of all our fans for continuing supporting him. I consider him an upgrade from Taylor bray and look forward to seeing him continue to improve week in and week out.

Go vols next up Alabama the debate about Worley is here!!!!!!!!!!!!

0Star is the best poster on this forum by a looooooooooooooooonnnnggg shot.

Every post is gold.

1. Reword one of your sentences.

2. I really hope you didn't mean Taylor.

3. Worley has a looong way to go to be considered an upgrade from Bray.

To the other poster, had Bray had this defense they never would've lost a game last year.

If Bray would have been a leader like a QB is supposed to be, instead of whining on the sideline, acting like a child in the game, maybe the team would've had confidence to win a few. Bray is talented, no doubt, but he never helped the team when it came to support, Bray was there for Bray.

I agree Worley has improved. But to Bray's defense he put up 30-40 pts in losses to GA, Miss St, Mizzou, S.Carol. All 4 of those games we would have won with this staff. And honestly we most likely beat FLA and GA with Bray's lateral ability and our improved D. But truth be told last yr got Dooley out of here so those heartbreaking losses were worth it. Still doesnt hurt to think of where we sit with this staff if we have Bray and one or both of Patterson and Hunter ruturning for their SR yrs. Would liked to have seen the maturity difference in Bray with this staff and their ability to Coach but also holding players accountable over that $hit they called Coaching and discipline during Dooley's 3 yrs.

Haha. What makes this funny and spot on is that 98% of the guys, and gals, on here still despise Worley after the biggest win in years and want either freshmen at any cost. Nice Butch!
