Would CBJ ever go to Michigan?

COULD CBJ leave for another school? Of course. WILL he? Highly doubt it. He's building from the bottom and that takes an insane amount of work. His recruiting is showing all of us that his dedication isn't fake. Once all that work translates to wins on the field, UT will up his salary and lock him in for years to come.

Here's to CBJ!!

Jones needs to win more to get the kind of looks that'd take him back north.

As far as the Michigan job-keep a sharp eye on the ongoing snit out in San Francisco between Jim Harbaugh and 49er's management.

I don't like it, but the reality is if Butch can turnover TN to become a SEC Championship contender, he will get looks from other schools.

I see Michigan or Michigan State, the only schools he would bolt too.

Michigan may be looking for a new coach in 2015.

Am I delusional or do other Vol fans fear the same thing?

This reminds me of a time when some fans feared that UGA would hire Dooley away from us :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

It's been a whole lot of moments since UT was able to stay within 3 TDs of Alabama. And the last time UT managed it required the guy you knocked Bama for hiring. Moments...

And yet here you are........a frequent visitor and poster on a UT message board.

Haha yep. Butch Jones is no different than all the other head coaches in NCAA football.

Everything is great, they are committed, they say all the right things, it is their dream school, etc. --- until those no longer apply due to seeking more money, better environment, another challenge, etc.

Column: Butch Jones commitment to Cincy was pretense

And there is nothing wrong with wanting a better job, making more money, etc. I just find it hilarious how some people hang on the coach speak. They are all paid mercenaries. Imagine if the Dallas Cowboys came after Butch and said they want to give him 8 million a year (assuming he desires an NFL job at some point), does anyone really think he'd give one rat's ass about brick by brick?

I remember reading that article and you're correct that they're all paid mercenaries.

The article didn't bother me because it is what it is. If UF has another bad season and UT turns in a 7-5 season I wouldn't be surprised if UF showed interest and a large checkbook.

All of these coaches say similar things no matter where they are. At Cincy, no one listened or cared. At UT, fans hang on every word. Does he mean what he says? Maybe.

He is, however, killing it on the recruiting trail. So while he's here, he's doing the right things. Is it to build a solid foundation in Knoxville and hang around for 10+ years or is he looking to take a step up and bolt at the next bigger thing? Again, I don't know. I'm not too worried about it. It's just what happens in today's sports landscape.

Just can't leave well enough alone. Do yo need drama. Plenty other place to find it. Qiit stirring up the masses of those that would want confusion and chaos. I laugh at most that have nothing better to do than stir the pot

If he does leave it will not be before year 5 anyway. By then we will be a much stronger position. My opinion is that he will be here until fans like you try to run him off for no reason.

Do us a favor and live in the moment.

It takes talent to pull off the double feat of being incredibly optimistic (Butch turning UT into a conference title contender) and apocalyptically pessimistic (Butch would leave UT in the lurch).

I'm impressed, OP.

How about this? I saw your post, loved it, saw that it was you and then hated that I loved it.

Lots of ties in Michigan. If the money is right, yes I think he would. But it would be after a long tenure at UT.

Let's hope UT has that problem. We are a long way from them wanting to hire him away. Let's get to 6-6 and a bowl game before you start this kind of meaningless speculation.

Wow, just wow. Not at the OP, but wow at how delusional virtually everyone on this board is about how these things work. If Butch wins big here, he most certainly will be a candidate for other top jobs in the country. And if you simpletons think he wouldn't listen and entertain more money or a job in his home state simply because he said this was his "dream job" at his first press conference, then you are truly in la la land.

1000% agreed. If CBJ turns UT into a champion, he will be one of the most sought after coaches in the country, if not the most, given he is still young. I do believe he genuinely loves UT, though. If he does leave, at least he will leave a loaded roster so the next cheap hire the AD makes will have some talent to work with.

There was "NO CHANCE" Kiffin would go to USC.

NO CHANCE! - so sayeth VolNation at the time.

(You deserved a like for the post above, fade, but I didn't give you one)

Going to Michigan or Michigan State and the Big 10 AFTER UT and the SEC would be like being with the NY Yankees and saying, "naw I need a bigger and better challenge so I'm announcing I'm leaving for the Toledo Mudhens." OP is an obvious troll.

As Brady Hoke's seat gets hotter, as was discussed on sirius xm college sports radio yesterday. The UT AD better be developing a plan for how they will keep a great coach like CBJ. IF CBJ's momentum continues, he will be one of the hottest names in coaching from 2015-2017. UMich (a natural fit) and many others will make CBJ offers that no man with a family can refuse. I will be very disappointed in UT if that scenario plays out and we lose him. For the record, I do not question CBJ's commitment to UT. But very handsome offers are coming in his future. I believe UT should extent/increase his contract if we win 8+ games in 2015.
I was bashed for making a similar post a few weeks ago. But I, like the OP, think this is a justified concern in the future of UT football.

Well I would like to think that Kiffin was an exception and the fact he used UT as a stepping stone to get the USC job just highlights how bad a hire that was.

I don't believe the UT coaching job should ever be viewed as a stepping stone. The only way I see CBJ leaving for another job is if we are not paying the man what he is worth.
